532033 Ahhh, I absolutely love this book and hope ya'll do too! ❤️

532033 I've read it and the main pairing is M/F, but the F/F is a strong portion of the book! It's set in the same world as Of Fire and Stars, I believe, and the romance is rather normalized!

Just pulled my copy of the book out so I wouldn't be speaking out of turn, the actual quote is:

(view spoiler)

So I feel the need to amend my statement and point out that these are the 'bad guys' and maybe isn't there SOLEY for a joke. But it's still sadly the only mention through out the series.

(Which as a whole, is very good and one of my favorites; it just fails spectacularly in this aspect)

All of this is so on point.
I just finished Obsidio, and there is a throwaway line that reveals one of Rhys' fellow-soldiers talks about her ex-girlfriend, but it's definitely not representation and seems to only be there so another character can make a joke about how "hot" he finds it (It annoyed me greatly)

It's a super inventive retelling that doesn't go at all like you'd expect! It's primarily character focused (which is what I lean towards, tbh) so some of the plot is a little underdeveloped, but it's still tons of fun and has some really cool themes

532033 I read a ton of contemporary without shame, so I don't have a lot of genre favorites, but the one that immediately comes to mind is:

Girls Made of Snow and Glass by Melissa Bashardoust

It's a retelling of Snow White with a heavy focus on the relationship between Snow White and her 'evil' stepmother, as well as the stepmother's motivations. No prince, and Snow's romance is sapphic!

532033 Why did no one tell me 'Now I Rise' had a f/f couple and why haven't I read it yet

532033 Hello! ☺️ I'm Kaylin and I overuse exclamation points and drink too much coffee. I'm in school for nursing right now and have worked EMS/hospital the last two years (meaning I notice and scream about all the medical inaccuracies books love to slip in)

Some of my favorite sapphic reads are:

-- How to Make A Wish by Ashley Herring Blake

-- The Miseducation of Cameron Post by Emily Danford (this one is really heavy and deals with a lot of triggering topics, so not something I rec for everyone, but it was very personal for me)

-- Girls Made of Snow and Glass by Melissa Bashardoust

-- Everything Leads to You by Nina Lacour

I'm also in the middle of reading Wild Beauty by Anna-Marie McLemore and it's literally so beautiful I want to cry
