The first book wasn't bad in the MacKinnon series, but as it goes along this series became the scariest I've read other than EIT. I loved it, but it definitely isn't one to read late at night by yourself. LOL

Oh, Annie, that's the best kind of gift for all of us!! LOL Enjoy book shopping, babe!!

I liked Unraveling when I read it, it was pretty good. It was so long ago at this point that I would need a complete re-read to remember anything, though! =/

I finished

Oh you know those are cursed words for me, SO not even going there!!! LOL

This will probably be like the Bloodrose of dystopians for me! LOL Everyone was so pissed at that ending, and depending on how it's handled that will definitely be me! =) It is an interesting theory about the titles, I just wish it wasn't with this series!!

Love anything of Showalter's, but this was my first series read by her and it had me hooked!

Aaaaand, that's why I won't be reading the rest of that series!! I loved Will, Jem did nothing for me. LOL

Okay, so the issue with that would be that those of us who raved about Adam in SM would have had no clue that when she said "shatter me" to Warner (or vice versa, I didn't notice this) that meant they were going to be a couple! Sure, if that was the plan all along, I would have liked to have been clued in. I wouldn't have wasted my time daydreaming about an Adam/Juliette HEA. =/

LOL I know, you just can't mention certain books/characters around here without everyone going apeshit!! =P

I second that one, hun!! I feel so let down by where things are going; regardless of what anyone else says, the first book was clearly setting up this beautiful love story for the two of them, and now it's being swept under the rug.
There are going to be a lot of angry readers either way it goes, apparently. Honestly though, probably 90% of my friends who reviewed this either went on and on about how much they loved Adam with Juliette, or they just oohed and aahed over her as a heroine. Rarely was Warner ever mentioned as being anything other than a great villain (which I agree with 100%), so the idea that he's been planned as the love interest all along just doesn't ring true at all for me. SM was so unbelievably poetic and the connection A&J had came out so strongly for me, like it was their destiny to find each other after all of the crap they both went through. But now, everything he did out of his feelings for HER, not because of some simple fascination like Warner (because, come on, he didn't even KNOW her when he planned all of it, so you can't call that love), essentially means nothing. No one will ever convince me that this was always meant to be a Warner/Juliette relationship, that means SM was just meaningless moments between Adam and Juliette and I loved that book to no end. Okay, I've said my piece. LOL To each his own, though, I know I'm not convincing any Warner fans either!
Annie, you and I can have ourselves a pity party while Warner fans cheer him at the finish line!! ;-) *sobbing*

Wait, in SM you felt Warner belonged with her, or did you mean to say FM? See, my issue is that I can't stand being duped by an author when it comes to the love story, and I feel like that's beginning to happen here. I get that the love triangle angle is exciting and full of twists, but it's not necessary to put something on the table and then have it completely tossed aside. Just like in the Delirium series, which was a huge slap in the face for me (not that I liked that series all that much anyway, but still). We started out with SM where there's a strong love story growing with Adam/Juliette, and nothing else is even really on the radar. Warner at that point was just kind of the obsessive psycho with a violent streak who peaked everyone's curiosity. Then things start to turn his way and we see a complete shift in Adam and Warner in UM and DM, so I feel like I was made to fall for this incredible guy who just isn't going to be what he was made out to be in SM. I don't know, there are a lot of Warner fans out there who disagree, but I just don't like that Adam was put out there as such a clear and present love interest only to be pushed on the back burner.

I feel that way every time I pop in here lately! LOL So many to catch up on and I just can't. =/

Next up for me are

I just don't know if I can. I read a few reviews, and it's making me nervous about the whole series at this point. This was one of those series for me where I NEED things to go a certain way. Yeah, I love Warner (hellooo, he's delish), but between the past pain she and Adam shared and what he does and becomes in order to save her, it would just be wrong on so many levels if he ends up losing her to the (let's face it) psycho-obsessive hottie. Nothing really compares to what they had in my opinion, but that hasn't stopped authors from shattering a love story in the past so...we'll see!

Oh, lord, just reading your post has my stomach in knots. I really hope Adam doesn't get left behind, I'll just be sick.

Wow, I totally missed all of the additional books! Glad you mentioned it, this is an absolute favorite series of mine!!

I had OTE as a group read in another group I was in, and I never got around to it. Glad to hear you loved it!

Ugh, not yet. I know, for shame! LOL I'm SO backlogged on blog reviews it's not even funny, but I'm trying to squeeze in ones I really want or need to read!!
