50920 You're welcome! (And just for the record it was a quick read - I'm making my way steadily through the others too) :)

50920 Always got space for your chapters, Sudhir! I've now got plenty of reading lined up for the next month, thanks all, but Java I don't think I've heard more from you, and your project sounds intriguing! If you don't mind it taking a while, I can add it to the pile if you still want. Might be a bit tight if you're publishing at the end of Jan though.

50920 Haha, thanks J.L. I've replied to those who emailed via my site as requested, looking forward to reading for you.

50920 I'm an experienced beta reader who also provides support for authors by way of editing and proofreading. I offer free betas or a paid option (£25 gives faster turnaround and a discount on final proofread/format, see my website http://www.coinlea.co.uk/indie-author... for further details and testimonials).
I read a variety of genres: mystery, fantasy, historical, memoirs/non-fiction, general literature but not erotica. I prefer to work with authors who are serious about wanting to offer a quality product for publication, and particularly enjoy the sort of work that might struggle to attract betas normally.
If you think I can help you, please use the email link from my website to contact me further. I read either Word or PDF files, adding comments as I go through as well as giving general feedback.
I look forward to hearing from you.

50920 I'm currently free to take on another project - I'm a proofreader/editor by trade, and offer betas and sample edits as part of my service. If you choose to pay £25 for your beta you qualify for 25% discount on a final proofread when your project is ready for publication. More details on my website http://www.coinlea.co.uk/indie-author... - I read most things, including crime, women's lit and science fiction/fantasy but am happy to work on the more unusual projects that otherwise might struggle to find a beta, e.g. memoirs and other non-fiction.
Looking forward to working with you.

50920 I'm a proofreader by trade - my fees are £4 per 1000 words. That way it would be professionally checked. Please let me know if you're interested. Proof reading would normally be done via Word (track changes) or PDF (standard proof reading marks). Difficult to mark up errors on other formats.

50920 I put together some guidance for writers who want to use a beta reader.

50920 Hi folks, I've been helping people out via beta reads for a while, and am now in a position to take on more projects through my business.

I'm in the process of completing training in both editing and proofreading, so while I can offer testimonials from authors I've already helped, until I can provide proof that my work meets industry standards I'm offering discounted prices.

As I'm based in the UK, I will be reading your work to check for use of UK English unless you specify otherwise (I can cope with center, endeavor etc, just warn me you want US spellings).

My rates are £2 per 1000 words for pure proofreading - checking for spelling/word errors, punctuation and grammar - and £3 per 1000 words for editing as well - this means helping out with awkward wording and pointing out issues. These are way lower than normal industry rates, and just as a special offer for goodreads people, so get them while they last!

If you're not sure what level of editing you need, I will of course offer a sample edit (5000 words) to check we can work well together in making your novel the best it can be, and to work out what is needed.

I'm still willing to take on beta reading projects - I've been offering particularly on non-fiction projects, or those that are outside mainstream, but I also do fiction work.

I offer a paid beta reading service too - for £25 you get express service and 25% discount on your final proofread. I will do free beta reads, but just be aware that paid work has to take priority and so while I'll do your read as quickly as I can, it MAY not be as fast as the paid service.

Contact me on lin@coinlea.co.uk, or visit my website at www.coinlea.co.uk to read more about the service and the testimonials - just remember that if you mention goodreads you'll get further discount from the prices quoted on there.

Looking forward to working with you!

50920 I offered over a week ago to look at this but never heard any more. Do I take it you no longer want a beta reader?

50920 I offered to read this a few days ago but didn't hear anything more. Do I take it you no longer want a beta reader?

50920 I can take a look if you like - my website is www.coinlea.co.uk, you'll find my email on there. I offer paid betas with a discount for a final proofread, but I also take projects, particularly unusual or nonfiction ones, for free on the understanding it might take a bit longer :)

50920 After digging around, the only group I can find for finding reviewers seems very formal and complicated, so I've set one up called Looking for reviews - let's see if anyone finds it of any use.
Aug 01, 2013 09:21AM

50920 I've noticed an increasing number of posts lately from people seeking reviews of books already published - my understanding of this group is that it is to offer beta reading services BEFORE a book is published. Beta reading is a completely different process from reviewing - one is advice to the writer, the other advice to possible readers.
Please, writers, be clear on what you're looking for - and make sure your book is as good as you can get it before hitting the publish button. I know it's easy to update a published book these days, but it's also easy to annoy readers by publishing something that's not quite ready.

50920 First impressions are that the wall of text on the book's page is a little overwhelming, but if you don't mind me taking a week or two I can take a look if you want - sounds interesting. My website is www.coinlea.co.uk, you can find an email address on there if you think I could help you. While I'm trying to move into making a living in the editing business I'm offering the occasional free beta read to build up experience and a reputation, and I enjoy taking on projects that are a little different from the normal fiction :)
Jul 30, 2013 03:48AM

50920 It might help if we knew a bit about your book. What genre is it, for a start?
Jul 18, 2013 11:05PM

50920 But this is a group for beta readers, not reviewers...
Jul 18, 2013 11:04PM

50920 Reviews are not the same as beta readers! Reviewers make public comments on the quality of the book. Beta readers give private feedback to the author on what they thought and areas of strength/weakness.
Jul 18, 2013 10:03AM

50920 Coming late to this, but if you're looking for beta readers why have you already published it?
50920 I can take a look if you want - I don't mind just openings. Send me a pm if you want and I'll give you an address to send to. PDF or word best.
