I am just now on Chapter 5. I had thought I'd be more into the book by now but I am not. Jane Eyre caught me right from the start. This book hasn't grabbed me as much. While I like the narrator fine, I am having a tough time figuring out where she fits in. So far it just seems like we are learning about the people she lives amongst at the time. Does it pick soon? Do we learn her purpose in the story more? I sure hope so. I really did love Jane Eyre.
Just started this last night FINALLY lol I shall join the discussion soon. Right now I'm still not past chapter two.
Shug was an awesome character. I also really enjoyed Sofia. They both had such spunk and didn't let anyone control them.
Loved this book so much. First I saw the movie and was so into it I located my book (had owned it for a while just never got around to starting out)
I'm trying to get through The Arabian Nights. There are quite a few of these stories that I end up skipping because they are boring and ridiculously long. But for the most part I'm enjoying it. I had no idea that Ali Baba & Aladdin were debateable parts of the tales. My copy does include these stories (haven't gotten around to reading them yet) But it has notes that mention their debateability. What does everyone else think that has read this book?
I cried a lot during this book I felt so bad for Jane with how a lot of people treated her & the situations she is thrown into. But she was a trooper through & through. A much stronger woman than I would've been in some of her situations.
The spelling errors didn't bother me because things were spelled differently at the time she wrote the book than they are now. It's historically accurate lol
I will join the Jane Eyre discussion with ya'll since I very recently finished it & it's fresh in my head. =)
Wow I didn't realize she died before she finished it. Didn't Jane Austen do the same when writing Northanger Abbey? I have not read North & South (although the movies/series for these are on my netflix que as well( & I've never heard of Cranford. Maybe I shall finish watching the mini series of Wives & Daughters & decide. Thanks for the info everyone.
