41817 I am finding the story to be slow going. Since I have enjoyed Greene's other novels, I will plod on.
41817 Loved The Quiet American and Our Man in Havana. I have several other books to read, so I'll join later in the month.
41817 The comments below the article are also interesting. The use of witches in the novel appears to be the main stumbling block to those who are Christians.

41817 Any moderator can do it as I just found out.

41817 I think I was able to handle this months nominations and group read discussions and they should be the first ones listed.

41817 Not sure how to do this, so if you can give us some guidance, that would help. Can someone other than the one who set up the thread, 'unpin?'

41817 I have posted a new poll. Unfortunately, I am currently unable to broadcast a message to the whole group. I will do so as soon as the "bug" is fixed.

41817 The poll will be posted later today.

Up the Down Staircase by Bel Kaufman"

Now I really feel like a classic. This was popular when I was in junior high school.

That's been on my TBR list for a while.
41817 Do you agree with the assessment that this was Agatha Christie's greatest novel? If so, why?
41817 I have read the book previously.

Was the murderer justified in doing what he did? Could (s)he have been wrong in their judgments?

41817 Giants in the Earth by O.E. Rølvaag. This is a rare look at the American immigrant experience that was written in a foreign language and later translated into English.
