4170 I love HHGTTG, but it has never been a laugh out loud book for me.

Like Scott says above, it makes me smile. Adams humour is pointing out the absurdity of situations and subverting expectations.

4170 Radio play: https://archive.org/details/hitchhike...

The TV series is available from Apple. That 1981 TV series was my introduction to the franchise.

4170 I have no experience of Agatha outside Wandavision and Agatha All Along.

I'm enjoying it very much. Doubly so whenever Aubrey Plaza is on screen.

She needs her own series.

4170 Even though the actual songs are about the human experience and nothing to do with space, I find "The Moody Blues" album - "Long Distance Voyager" evokes Sci-Fi for me.

4170 Darwin is in NT, the territory that keeps rejecting statehood..

Both Perth and Darwin are, effectively, in different countries to the rest of us Aussies. 😉

Brisbane and the rest of Qld is a different planet 😜

and that one is almost always Western Australia. They think they contribute too much taxes to the National economy.

They believe they are supporting the smaller states/Territories (in population) like South Australia, Northern Territory and Tasmania.

They forget the times they were the struggling state propped up by the rest of us.

To be honest W.A is like a different country. It's one huge city in a whole lot of nothing.

It's amazing that the 6 colonies ever finally agreed to join together into 1 country.

We could so easily have become 6 different countries.

Australia was only a country for 3 weeks before Victoria died.

Prior to that it was just a collection of 6 seperate independent British colonies.

4170 The Chapters are too short to do 1 a day.

If I decide to read, I want more than a 2 to 5 minute read.

4170 Aaron, for someone who has been struggling to read, you still have 100+ books read for the year. 😕

I'd be at 20 at most.

4170 I wasn't afraid to delete it 😉

You double posted on your post in the book announcement thread as well. I fixed that as well.

4170 Thanks.

That's the problem with getting old, the memory is not as good as it once was.

I haven't seen that movie in 30 years or more.

4170 I've obviously missed the joke. Is it a meme I somehow missed?

I know it's Marty McFly's parents from BttF

4170 I wouldn't have thought of Kyr as asexual. It just isn't a high priority to her "at that time". She is still young and growing up.

Val, because of her more normal upbringing (Outside the spartan Gaea military life), is definitely aware that she is attracted to women and Kyr does start to notice Lisabel once she is aware of her Val life.

It’s really worth watching."

I'll give it a watch.

Some of the signs they use in AFL (Aussie Rules) are quite amusing. Once you work out what they mean. Some are just downright weird.

I always assume they aren't overly cryptic. Footballers aren't that bright. 😜

Isn't it the job of the opposition to try and guess what all the signs and hand signals etc mean?

I haven't but it has a list of trigger warnings at the front of the book. I don't know how extreme they are but this is what is listed.

They are:
