4170 A similar one is when they ask if you like what they've done with their hair.

The first thought is if this a trick question 😕
Does it look shorter?
Has the colour changed?
Has she added extensions?
Is it a different style?

All this happens in half a second which is, of course, half a second too long.

So you blurt out "I like it" 😃

"Like what?"
"What you've done with it"
"Which is??"
This is when you commit to a guess and usually get it wrong 😉

Men don't notice small details like hair & fashion.

Don't even get me started on choosing paint colours.

4170 I seem to remember watching that Walter Cronkite film 40+ years ago. Weren't the real homes of 2001 a let down. 😏

Australia is much higher than that. We are one of the least densely populated countries. But we are also one of the most urbanised countries also.

86% of Aussie live in cities. 60% of all Aussies live in just 4 cities.

I an outlier in that I live in a small town of 1,800 people.

and also the classic "Fate v Free Will" debate.

Are we able to make choices or are we Fated to make a decision and only have the illusion of free will?

Has our future been determined at the Big Bang and has every thing that followed been just elements acting on a predictable path via the Laws of Physics from the Quantum level up or does Chaos Theory make everything that happens totally unpredictable and Chaotic.

Do we live in a "Sliding Doors" universe where one small decision can have a massive effect whichever way we choose or do we live in a "Final Destination" universe where everything is predetermined and our future will follow the path is must.

I choose to believe in Free Will, even if it is just the illusion of Free Will.
4170 Geez none of us realised that 🙄

It's all about choice. I prefer eBooks, some prefer audiobooks.

Having it available in both formats in some regions and only eBook in other regions, just because publishers haven't done deals here is ridiculous in the 21st century.

That was tongue in cheek 😉 I think Joe would give me a room inside.

I was hoping to pitch a tent on the lawns of the White House. 😉

4170 Not a direct homage, but the handheld video aspect and the kids being silly definitely reminded me of the Wonder Years opening.

4170 It seems fairly obvious that (view spoiler)

I thought the opening title sequence also paid homage to "The Wonder Years"
4170 You're jealous of those kid's field trips. I'm jealous of yours. I still want to do most of your field trips.

Visiting the Smithsonian Museum(s) is high on my bucket list.

4170 For me a Mary Sue/Marty Stu character is just go gosh darned good at everything and so gosh darned nice and pretty that every other character can't help but love them and every gosh darned thing they do.

They are so gosh darned perfect and have no character flaws and know exactly what to do and say in every situation.

They are the girl/boy that you know you can never have. They are the girl/boy you want your son/daughter to marry.

I laughed when I heard those comments, when he was in office. I liked Obama and "most' of his politics, but he was "at best" a Centrist.

US politics is further to the right of Oz politics. Your Democrats would be Centrist here and the GOP would be far-right (similar to our National Party, the lesser of the 2 coalition parties in power.)

I am a Socialist as are many of the left-wing party I support (Labor Party) which is why I am a fan of AOC. She'd be a moderate in our Labor Party.

4170 To be fair she went a bit further than express conservative views.

I have many right-wing friends/family who aren't into the conspiracy theories and transphobia of the extreme right.

Extremes of any political spectrum (left or right) is unhealthy
4170 It looks cool.

Our 3rd Native American author (all female). Our 1st book from the 2020s.

Our 16th female author in the last 21 books. Which is a good thing. Our early years of S&L was a bit too male dominated.
4170 Yeah despite the guest host Mallory O'Meara's misgivings about The Sparrow last month (which I fully understand) it is one of my favourite books that Sword and Laser have read.

I would have it my Top 5 of "books picked that I hadn't read before" and my top pick of books I wouldn't have read if not for it being picked.

4170 We can only be thankful that people with views like hers are too stupid to edit themselves on social media.

Good riddance.

4170 That is understandable. Even with its bad reviews WW84 is still better that most of the mediocre films released.

It did help that it was released during the school summer holidays. I'd guess a lot of those numbers were from families with kids.
