I don't compare reading totals with anyone. The numbers I choose are merely ballpark goals for my own encouragement, but if I don't meet those goals, no harm done.I do follow the "what have you been reading this month" threads because I often find books that I think I'd like to read.
I occasionally look at the bookshelves of someone who has recommended a book to see what other books they've read and liked.
