I have read a couple books set on a different planet/in space. All Systems Red by Martha Wells is hands down my favorite. I wouldn't recommend this one if you're just starting out with Science Fiction. It gets a little complicated with the terminology used. I don't think I have one that I highly recommend other than that. There is Skyward by Brandon Sanderson, but I didn't like it all that much.
I'm continuing on with all of my books that I'm in the middle of. I'm very much enjoying The Most Fun We Ever Had by Claire Lombardo! I'm also thinking about putting down all of my books and reading Wanderers by Chuck Wendig. I'm so excited to read that, and it's a library book so I don't want to wait and it have to go back to the library. It's almost 800 pages long!
Recently finished: Night Boat to Tangier by Kevin Barry.Currently reading:
The Doll Factory by Elizabeth Macneal
The Heart Keeper by Alex Dahl. I haven't picked this one up in a bit.
The Most Fun We Ever Had by Claire Lombardo
The History of Love by Nicole Krauss. I'm still not 100 pages in. I'm on vacation next week so maybe I'll push myself to finish it.
Next:
I'm interested in The Dutch House by Ann Patchett
OR
The Water Dancer by Ta-Nehisi Coates
1. Enemies to lovers (I enjoy that trope most of the time.) 2. Drama between two dysfunctional families.
3. A grumpy elder character who is changed by someone younger than them (child, young adult, etc..)
4. Any trope that takes place in a courtroom.
5. Live in nanny (apparently).
6. Creepy/haunted building that everyone has to visit/stay in.
I'm sure there are more, but I can't think of anymore off of the top of my head.
The Escape Room by Megan GoldinThe Wolf Wants In by Laura McHugh
The Doll Factory by Elizabeth Macneal
I haven't always been fond of reading. I read a ton as a kid, but my middle school years were lacking in the reading department. High school I read a book or two here and there. I'd say Junie B. Jones when I was a kid. The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho got me into reading as an adult.
I plan on continuing with History of Love by Nicole Krauss, and The Most Fun We Ever Had by Claire Lombardo. History of Love is a short book, but it's not very fast paced. I also don't enjoy the writing style. Oh well.
Just finished The Turn of the Key by Ruth Ware, and I absolutely loved it. I recommend it if you are in the mood for a creepy thriller. Currently reading The History of Love by Nicole Krauss. I'm liking it, but it's slow paced. I'm just barely making my way through it.
I am going to read The Most Fun We Ever Had by Claire Lombardo next. I picked it up on a whim, and Krystyna said she had heard good things about it.
On Earth We're Briefly Gorgeous by Ocean Vuong <-- Didn't really enjoy how odd it was. Dig by A.S. King <-- This is a good weird though. I actually really enjoyed this one.
1. Katherine from The Tenth Muse by Catherine Chung2. Hazel from Josh & Hazel's Guide to Not Dating by Christina Lauren
3. Murderbot from All Systems Red by Martha Wells
4. Jules from Lock Every Door by Riley Sager
5. Camila from Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid
6. Martha from Love and Ruin by Paula McLain
7. Greta from The Tea Dragon Society by Katie O'Neill
8. Helen from The Weight of Ink by Rachel Kadish
9. Marie-Laure from All The Light We Cannot See by Anthony Doerr
10. Evelyn Hugo from The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid
*Honorable mention - Sam from One True Loves by Taylor Jenkins Reid :)
The Most Fun We Ever Had by Claire LombardoI've heard great things about this book! It's a chunk, but I'm excited to dive in.
I'm going to read The Turn of the Key by Ruth Ware and The History of Love by Nicole Krauss. I'm loving them both!
