40148 For me it is rare when the book doesn’t out do the movie. I think I will steer clear of this one, thanks.

40148 I enjoyed your review. I will have to add Zweig to my authors list.

40148 I read this a few years ago, for one of my challenges, and agree it was excellent.

40148 So far this has been a good reading year. I also have had quite a few 5 Star reads, 4 so far, and several more that I marked as 4.5. I hope it keeps up for both of us, congrats on completing two more for your challenge.

40148 Congrats!!

40148 I also read The Red and The Black this year. I thought it was really good. I hope to try Charterhouse of Parma, someday???

40148 With the exception of “A Horseman” these five stories are not the ones I first selected last week. They have already been listed above. I went back to my list and came up these.

The Furnished Room by O’Henry – A sad tale of loss
The Lady or the Tiger? By Frank R. Stockton – Love and Trust, what would you decide.
A Horseman in the Sky by Bierce Ambrose – Duty and the most shocking story ending I’ve ever read.
2BR02B by Kurt Vonnegut – Love and Justice, at least to me.
Love of Life by Jack London – A gritty tale of survival, just how far can a man go in order to live.

Here are a few excellent short story authors Ambrose Bierce, Jeffery Archer, Kate Chopin, Jack London, O’Henry.

40148 Sticking as close as possible to each posts five asked for short stories I am making a list of all the mentioned short stories. As of message 22, errors aside, I have read 22 of the 46 stories so far listed. Lucky me I now have a great list of unread stories. I wonder how many more I’ll have by months end.

Luffy, this was a group read in November 2015, it's only eligible as a revisit nomination.
