Compliments of the festive season.Well I'm interested to see what music what will be used in this video. A friend of mine is a pro musician. His stuff is top draw but smooth and dark, good for film soundtracks. He has kindly said that they can choose a track of his to use. I think the company want to use something uplifting. This will be interesting.
Absolutely. I've got a three volume version of War and Peace so I was able to split it between three books.
BBC radio 4 ( or 4extra) did a good version split into many episodes that helped me to follow the book .
We are going to embrace the digital age and try this instead of producing stationery.Having said that, no one can convince me to read a Kindle in preference to a proper book. How about you?
We are having (very short) video book trailer made for Out on Top by a professional video company.I hope I get to choose the music!
Hi.It surprises me sometimes how some (national) media editors promise you something then let you down at last minute. This happened to me at least twice before.
One of my neighbours is a little bit of a celebrity and is often still heard on BBC national radio. However, he informs me that it still amazes him how many times he's booked to appear on a show and "pumped up" for him to be let down. Also he tells me of the number of times he's made TV and radio recordings that have never been aired.
I got asked to make some recordings for a radio station and spent hours on those! The station then pulled the idea. Thanks!
Next time I'll get someone with a good voice to do it, perhaps my neighbour!
I'd better wait until I see any finished articles before I name names so as not to tempt fate....
Oh , thanks for setting up a Goodreads page . Much appreciated . More info will be added as it becomes available .Well I started writing lots of stories as a young teen perhaps with too many ideas make one good long story out of any of them . There was a file of them which I wrote on a typewriter . They became In All Probability .
I think that short stories suit modern society now that we seem to have less time for everything . I am like yourself, trying to read three novels at once at the moment! I'm barely getting through any of them as work calls come in later and later into the evening , then again in early morning . Modern life! is this progress ? i am sure that life must have been better at a slower pace .
Thank you again for setting up the page.
That is the very idea :-) I'm pleased with the cover particularly the colours. It is due out early 2014 so I will look forward to that .
That's right. The Internet has created a global forum. The WWII veterans (and the generation following them)at today's Remembrance services could have never envisaged this.I wonder if UK English and USA English will now merge to become an International English?
I'm not sure if the apostrophe is only now being taught with more force. I was chatting to two kids (out of school unwell) only this week and asked them what they had been learning in English. Both told me that they had been learning how to use apostrophes . We shall see!
I wish you hadn't told me about he sad ending now. I'll still watch the movie. Darkly , I've been reading some post apocalyptic fiction and non-fiction since I moved to live near a huge Cold War bunker . Fascinating stuff nonetheless. I shall have to read her other works..
Oh yes. I despair for the future of the apostrophe though. Have you noticed how it is now disappearing from street name signs? Mind you, I would rather not see it at all than stuck into every plural word.
The Ed and I will be hoping so! The theme this time will be stories that all end (by fair means or foul)the 'right way up'. No more sad endings. We've all had enough dark times with the world economy.
That is a great list of covers (and some clever titles we shouldn't forget). Thank you so much. What did you think of How I live now? I plan to see the film. The thief has a very tactile cover.
The Republic of Trees has effective colour.
The Nightmare of Drury lane has great colour contrasts which make it stand out.
Uglies is nightmarish!
I ran a few cover ideas by a couple of people this time and came up with a list of possible themes. This I have passed on to the publisher. I think we'll agree on something.
Covers are really important. I admit to buying books purely for their covers.
I think there is more and more crossover, especially with the spellings. To me, USA English comes over as more contemporary. What do you think?
Hello Nicolle! I am hoping so. Christmas is a good reading time. You'll be getting one of the first reviewer copies as soon as it is in print, too so please pencil me a slot in your schedule!
I am especially pleased to have today agreed the contract for the new story book due out at the end of 2013.
