36119 Ooops! Sorry! That's Okay, I just need to update my notes ;)
May 19, 2023 03:16PM

36119 Yes, since I am doing that one task for a plan, I will use a different author for each of the 10 posts, so I will need to post the originating author for each task. Which is fine, because it looks like all the people I had chosen using one author are going to crossover anyway, I just need to change the source ;) Thanks!

36119 With Summer 2012 20.4 Literature Map task : Go to Literature Map and type in an author whose work you read this spring (March, April, May). Read a book by another author who comes up on the literature map. While you can repeat this task as many times as you like, you must continue to use the first literature map that you created. Additionally, you must select a different author to read each time you repeat this task. State the author you used to create your Literature Map when claiming points. Can I use the one author, or should I chose different authors, as per the original post? And, if I can use one author, then can it include the originating author?

36119 I am having too much fun planning, I have one 20 point plan covering 20.1-20.10 through various seasons, but I think I have 8 single task plans I have also made.
(I missed the second page of archives initially, so had to go back for more!)

I am not going to post all of the plans here, just register my tasks, because I think I have some questions:

Summer 2015 20.5 - Post-Colonial: In honor of Jean Rhys’ 125th birth anniversary, read a book shelved as " Post Colonial " at least 3 times. From this list https://www.goodreads.com/shelf/show/...

Also Summer 2015, 20.3 - Post-modern: In honor of Saul Bellow’s 100th birth anniversary and Bharati Mukherjee’s 75th birthday and read any work by one of these Post-modern Writers . From this list https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Categor...

Winter 2013-14 20.5 - Disturbing: In honor of Last Exit To Brooklyn, read a book shelved at least five times as "disturbing" . From this list https://www.goodreads.com/shelf/show/...

Spring 2021 20.1 Prize: A Spell of Winter was the inaugural winner of the Bailey's/Orange/Women's Prize for fiction 25 years ago. In honor of this anniversary, read any book that has won or been nominated for this prize (under any name). All Orange Prize winners or nominees from this list https://www.goodreads.com/award/show/...

Winter 2019-2020 20.10 A Winning Decade: Read a book that has received one of the following literary awards during the years 2010-2019. Using Costa, Hugo and Pulitzer prizes

Spring 2018 20.3 Sanctuary: The authors of Sanctuary and Sanctuary each won the Pulitzer Prize in the fiction/novel category. Read a book by any author who has won in the novel or fiction category of the Pulitzer Prize. This is the list of winners we will be using https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...

Spring 2022 20.6 The Color Purple: In honor of the 1983 winner, read one of the top 100 BBBC most inspiring novels. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BBC_lis....

Summer 2012 20.4 - Literature Map (Fall 2010, 10.2):
Go to Literature Map and type in an author whose work you read this spring (March, April, May). Read a book by another author who comes up on the literature map. While you can repeat this task as many times as you like, you must continue to use the first literature map that you created. 36119 Thanks Elizabeth. There are at least 7 of them, and generally there are 2 to 90% of the story, so I feel it counts.

36119 A Kiss of Shadows is the first book in the Merry Gentry series, of which A Shiver of Light isthe 9th book, and appears on the list at #230.

36119 Will A Shiver of Light work here? The lead character, Merry, is part human, part sidhe (the fairy people of Irish folklore), part brownie, and potentially a goddess. Pretty much all the other main characters, the fathers of her children/lovers are either full sidhe, or part sidhe with mixed other fae.

And what determines a main character, is it just the lead character, or ones central to the story, or appearing a certain % of the story?
