This summer, we're giving you the chance to revisit subchallenges of past seasons - any subchallenges you choose!
Find them here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group...
Your first subchallenge should be numbered 15.1, 15.2, etc to 15.10.
You may also choose to work on a second subchallenge at the same time (but not more). Tasks for your second subchallenge should be numbered 15.11, 15.12, etc.
After you complete one of these two, you may start a third that will be numbered 15.21, 15.22, etc.
You are free to complete as many different subchallenges as you like, but if you want to repeat a subchallenge, you need to complete a different one between the repeats.
Please include the name of the subchallenge and the original task number and task description in all of your posts.
If the subchallenge required a plan, please post your plan in the planning thread for this season. You're welcome to do other planning there, too.
All tasks are worth 15 points, even if the scoring system in the original subchallenge was different.
Bonuses:
+5 Old: for books published 2000 and earlier
+5 Big: for books whose MPE is 500 pages or more
Completion bonuses:
+50 points for your first subchallenge completion
+100 points for your second subchallenge completion
+150 points for your third and subsequent subchallenge completions.
Note: as stated in the Spring season Styles & Bonuses thread, Spring season winners will pick tasks and group reads for the Fall season.
For the summer season, we will apply the Lexile rule (books listed as YA/YA-Assignment at BPL must have a Lexile score of 700), but we will allow graphic novels for summer posts.

A Love So Dangerous by Jessie Evans
This one did not work for me at all. I know we're supposed to root for these characters and find their Robin-Hood-esque crime okay because their exacting retribution on bad people, but I hated everything about this. First, the male lead is the son of a criminal defense lawyer and he's using access to his father's case files to decide which people to rob because they weren't punished enough by the legal system for their alleged crimes. I hated the idea that the book portrays criminal defense attorneys as bad people working against justice.
Next, the male lead is endangering the whole family that the female lead has worked so hard to hold together. Sure, he thinks they won't get caught. But they totally might. Indeed, the cliffhanger ending shows the risks.
Finally, I just didn't believe the romance at all. Nothing about it felt compelling to this reader.
I will not be continuing with this series.

Deep Cuts by Holly Brickley
I loved reading about people with a skill I'm entirely missing. I don't know why, but I've never been able to hear music in my head if it's not playing right then. I just can't remember songs or melodies AT ALL. Like, it's literally hard for me to remember the tune to Happy Birthday if other people aren't singing. That's not to say I don't like music. I do. I love live music, I enjoy listening to music when it's on. I just can't recreate it when it's not on.
So, it was fascinating to read about characters with encyclopedic knowledge of songs, the ability to play a song, think about it, then replay it with small changes. I loved the way that they were able to come up with the perfect song for any activity or emotion. What an awesome reference point.
These characters also just felt so vividly real. They were messy and young and yearning. It's what I loved in Tomorrow, and Tomorrow, and Tomorrow. But unlike that book, this one didn't try to trace into their future. It only did the early parts. Which is cool, but also felt sort of unfinished or unsatisfying. I don't need everything to always work out in the end for my book characters, but I wanted more next steps from these characters.
The narrator for the audible version was good. The book translates very well to audio format because so much of it is in the protagonist's head anyway.
