What do you say?
The Undead Heart: The Blood Thirst Series

Hi Beth You have written this on every vampire book group, are you selling this book for them?

For the rest of the daylight, I was with Blare at his house. Serena and Lucy were investigating both crime scenes for more clues. All we had so far was the letters and bloodless bodies…and what I’ve seen, I’ve tried to say awake as much as possible. I didn’t feel like having him in my dreams. I was scared of what I might see.
“You are going to wear yourself out,” Blare said.
“Whatever.”
“Aurora, that doesn’t help me.”
“I know.”
“You want to get yourself killed.” Though it didn’t sound like it, it was meant to be a question.
“No, I am just not as scared of him anymore.”
“You are mental.”
“No duh, Sherlock.”
He didn’t say anything else. How nice of him.
I finally decided to go out. I couldn’t stand to be stuck inside for another second. I grabbed what money I had out of my jacket then left.
For once, New York City wasn’t as crowded. Cars were out but not jammed in rows. Music was low and taxi cab horns were soft. I could have wandered into the suburbs for all I know.
I went to Macys, one of the largest department stores. If he were to try and hunt me down, he’d have somewhat of a hard time. I doubt he would try to kill me in public. I looked at different departments, taking my good old time. I observed the shoes they had up, deciding whether if I needed a new pair or not. They had so many choices to choose from.
As I turned around, I saw two guys staring at me. They were smirking, as if something I had done amused them. I glared at them then went the other direction. It didn’t really scare me. I was always getting stares from strangers.
I went out into the mall that was attached to Macys, looking at the different shops. I got a soda and went into the record store. They guy at the cash register smiled and said hello. I said hello back then dived into the sea of music.
The same guys from earlier came through, only to be joined with more. A new, younger guy leads them in. They all looked like a bunch of punks. Really spiked hair, pierces, cocky attitudes and stances. They were all smiling in my direction. I ignored them and continued flipping through the CDs. Their stares burned into my back. I reminded myself they wouldn’t try anything in public.
“Hey Aurora.” One of them said. I did nothing. I moved to the next aisle. Then it hit me. They knew my name.
“Sweetheart, don’t ignore us,” Another one chuckled. I grabbed a CD I liked then hurried up to the register. They followed along.
“Are you ok?” The clerk asked as he rung up the CD.
“Yeah, fine,” I mumbled, handing him a twenty dollar bill, “You can have whatever change there is.”
I grabbed the back and went to go out but instead, ran right into the closest one. He wrapped his fingers around my arms, holding me still. I tried to pull away but he was too strong. “You really should watch where you are going, honey.”
“Let me go!” I growled and tried again. No progress.
“Hey is there a problem here?” The clerk asked cautiously.
“No there isn’t a problem, right guys?” he asked his friends.
“Lady, do you want me to call security?”
I groaned internally. This guy has got to be kidding me. They were harassing me, for Pete’s sake! They were surely not human and he wants to call security? Unreal!
“You want to survive human, I suggest you stay out of this,” Someone said from behind us. My breath caught when my heart stopped. Oh my God, please no…
I didn’t have to look to know whose voice that was. Though he only spoke very few words before, I knew his voice better than I wanted to. It was one I would rather die before I have to heart it again.
“Who do you think you are, buddy?” The boy asked him. I felt afraid for him now. I most certainly did not need to guess what was going to happen now.
After the whimpers stopped, he got up and stood next to me. The tears ran down my cheeks and neck. I knew I couldn’t look at the boy’s body, not when I feel responsible for his death. He died at my hand and there wasn’t anything I could do to stop it.
“Don’t cry for some pathetic weakling. He wasn’t going to live long anyway,” He chuckled. I couldn’t bring myself to asking what he meant. Hatred for him filled my veins, “It is finally nice to meet you again, Aurora.”
“Can’t say the same,” I muttered, wiping away my tears.
“It is a shame on how this will end, Aurora,” He said. He pulled me into the back room with his friends. I knew it was all going to end now. “Sit,” he pointed towards the couch in the back. His friends drug me to it, pushing me down onto the cushions.
“Just skill me already. I’m sure you don’t want to get caught,” I spat. The acid in my voice was horrible and nothing like me. He looked up and smiled brightly at me. If I didn’t know what he truly was, I would have probably fallen completely in love with him.
He looked pretty normal on the outside like an original 19 year old. His blonde hair was combed all to the left, his spiky bangs nearly covering his ice blue eyes. He was a little taller than me and was dressed in a navy sweatshirt and black pants.
“I wish I could keep you alive but I don’t like the things I’ve seen. You are too much trouble now. Perfectly fine as a child but a miracle gone wrong as a young woman. I was really hoping I could keep you but such as life.”
“What?” I asked, completely confused and outraged.
“Aurora, who do you think gave you your gift for seeing the future? Who protected you when you were young?” He inquired. I just stared at him. He decided to continue, “You were suppose to be me. My mate, best friend if you will, for as long as you lived,” His eyes flared with excitement, “I was going to make you strong, give you a life you couldn’t even dream of. I was going to protect you from the world but still make sure you got whatever your heart desired.”
“Why me though?” I just had to ask. It was eating away at me.
“I first saw you when you were at the part with your mom when you were about six. Something about you was different…unique, but I didn’t know what. I couldn’t put my finger on it at the time and I still can’t, believe it or not. But from then on, I knew I’d have you.
“I know that sounds creepy and disgusting but it was my nature to become obsessed. That night, when you were alone, I bit you. Not long enough to change you but just enough to give my gift. I promised myself I would wait to change you until you were old enough, around the age you are now.
“But then I had the vision of you. You were already changed. You were more powerful than I, which just about breaks a record but the real threat was that you were going to try and kill me.
“It hurt me a lot to see all of this. It broke my heart that one day; the girl I loved was going to destroy me. It was horrible but it also didn’t make sense.
“So I came up with this game to see how far advanced you were. I knew you would see things more clearly with the amount of vampire blood in you. of course, I’ve learned you are more powerful than I had expected but you are also helpless. Who ever is changing you is playing it little by little.”
“You know, even if you were the one who had changed me, I still would have killed you.” I played along as well as I could.
“I don’t think so love. You immediately fall head over heels for whoever is willing enough to make the change,” He smirked. I internally kicked myself.
“Fine whatever. Just please get it over with. If I’m going to die, I don’t want to have hours thinking about it before I do,” I sighed, still acting but thinking of ways to get out of here.
“Not so fast Aurora.” I want to have fun before I do what I’ll regret most.” He said, cupping my face in his hand, similar to the way he had done the night before. His eyes were glowing like the glow sticks you get during the fourth of July. He bared his teeth at me, grinning obnoxiously, “One little taste won’t hurt though it won’t be the same since you are tainted.”
I closed my eyes, waiting for his sharp bite to come. His cold breath drifted on my skin, sending shivers down my spine.
A loud explosion filled my ears, His breath caught and his teeth never impaled my skin. I cautiously opened one eyes, then the other. I looked down and saw him just lying on the floor. His buddies were up against the wall, getting frisked for God knows what by a group of much taller and stronger men. I spotted Blare, Serena and Lucy rushing over to me.
“Oh Aurora, are you ok?” Serena gushed as she held onto me.
“Yeah, fine.” I gasped/ Lucy joined the hug from the other side.
“I’m getting you an electric dog collar next time anyone has to watch you,” Lucy threatened, “That way you don’t run off to a place we can’t find you in right away.”
“What were you thinking Aurora?”
“I was bored.”
“Nice excuse.”
“I know,” I smiled as best as I could, “By the way, nice shot.”
“I didn’t make that shot. I couldn’t anyways. That hit the exact center of his heart.” He said.
“Then who…?”
“He did. He’s another vampire aurora. He knew were you where,” Lucy said. I follow her gaze to the vampire that she was talking about.
He was staring back at me with a blank expression. He leaned up against the wall with his hands in his pockets. His hair was like the dead vampire’s, spiky and slanting, but his was black. His eyes were bright emerald, like clovers. He was wearing dark jeans and a green t-shirt. No way did he look harmful.
After a few moments, a smile spread across his mouth. I smiled back, not knowing exactly why. “Later,” He mouthed. I nodded and turned my attention back to Lucy and Serena.
“ok now that you are done flirting telepathically with Mr. Mysterious, why did he try to kill you?” Lucy demanded.
“He gave me my visions when I was little. He wanted me to be his “mate”. He had a vision that someone changed me before he could and then I was going to kill him. Basically, he wanted to beat me to the punch line but that didn’t work out in his favor, as you see,” I watched as they took his body out the back door. I didn’t want to know what they were going to do with it.
“Do he was planning on you being his pet.”
I nodded at Lucy’s statement. She shook her head then wandered after the vampires, probably to torture them.
“Did you ever get his name?” Serena asked. I shook my head, “I’m sorry Aurora.”
“It’s not your fault. I’m glad he’s gone anyway. I don’t think I could take it anymore if another person died for me.”
“No more.” Blare agreed.
“Excuse me; may I please have a word with Aurora?”
I looked up. It was him. I looked at Serena and she knew. “Come on Blare, lets give the girl some space. We’ll be outside.”
I nodded. We waited until they closed the door. “Thank you for saving my life.”
“He wasn’t lying to you.” He said quickly. I just stared at him in confusion. “You are part vampire.”
“How do you know he wasn’t lying?”
Next thing I know, I can’t see him anymore. All I see is him biting my wrists and neck while I’m asleep. It scared me, “How?” I asked when I can see again. My voice was full of pain.
“Same way as him; through your bedroom window.”
“By why?” I demanded.
“Aurora, I wouldn’t have done it if I didn’t have a choice,” He knelt down in front of me, taking my hands into his.
“What didn’t you have a choice in?”
“Listen to me when I say this Aurora. There are much worse creatures in New York then him. Not many of them like the idea of you being alive. They will kill you 100 times more savagely then he was planning. You need to be able to protect yourself,” He explained. I couldn’t say anything. The only thing that was going through my head was ‘So I’m on more hit lists. Great.’
Now the only way to save my life was to take it away. Lovely

I just stared at the letter, totally shocked. It was a trick. Wendy had died because of me. “God what kind of sick person are we sealing with?” Serena gasped.
“I have a guess but you are going to like it,” Lucy muttered. We waited for her to continue. “Though the paramedics have yet to find this out for themselves, I know how Wendy died. Her body is completely drained of blood. There isn’t even one little droplet left.”
“How can you tell that?” Blare asked her, giving her a very curious look.
“I have sensitive senses, just like our killer. I can smell blood and there wasn’t even a tint of it on her skin. I couldn’t see it either,” She explained. Blare’s look toward her went from curious to complete shock.
“We are dealing with a Vampire?” Serena asked kind of distracted by something.
“Looks like it. Wonder why he’s afraid of Aurora though.”
“It said she was a threat to his existence,” Serena answered, examining the letter over, “Somehow, he has information on her and he knows something he doesn’t like.”
“And vampires are very persistent. Great!” Lucy exploded with anger, kicking the side of the ambulance. I wasn’t surprised that it was the vehicle that was damaged and not her foot. “How are we going to keep her safe? Vampires have like a tracking device in their heads!”
“My mother owns a lot of rosaries and Holy Water,” Blare offered. Serena laughed softly.
“Blare, honey, that’s just a myth. They can only be killed if something sharp impales their heart or if you get enough time to chop them into pieces but that isn’t a guarantee,” She giggled. I always thought Serena was an angel in disguise. She was always kind to a person, calling them a sweet name, even if she barely knew them. And even in the worst moments of time, she finds something to laugh about.
“Don’t forget about the guns. One shot to the forehead or heart should do it,” Lucy added, winding at Blare. He frowned.
“Is that my cue to offer up my policeman services?” He asked hesitantly. They all nodded, “I’d do it any day for her,” He added firmly.
At that point, I knew he would. Blare was a brother to me. He knew my strengths and weaknesses, my secrets…but now he knew what my future might turn out to be if I slip up.
“Ok we’ll guard her while you’re working and sleeping.” Serena smiled and squeezed my shoulder. I tried to smile but I knew it turned out pathetic.
“How are you going to protect her? You two can’t use a gun,” Blare stated. They both laughed.
“You really think we don’t know how to use one?” Lucy asked, clearly amused by his claim. He glared at her.
“I am going to pretend I didn’t hear that.”
“We are very fast, Blare. We could move faster with a dagger then a stupid bullet.”
“I’m sure you can Serena,” Blare nodded.
“Serena and Lucy like a cheetah!” Lucy purred. I giggled, “Now we best be getting her home before Mr. Vamp tries to sink his sharp fangs into her neck.” She added in a Romanian accent.
They started to pull me down the street but Blare told us to wait. He reached into his car then ran up to me. “You didn’t get this from me, you understand?”
“He placed something hard and shiny in my hand. I studied it for a few seconds then looked up at him. “Uh, what is it?”
He sighed and pressed a little lever. A small but sharp blade popped out. I grinned at it and said thanks. “It won’t do much good but it could give you a tiny advantage.”
“It’ll help, trust me. Thank you Blare!” I hugged him then ran back to Serena and Lucy. We continued back home.
“Where have you been Aurora?” My mom practically screamed. I explained everything, which didn’t help me. “You could have been killed!”
“But I wasn’t, mom. Stop worrying.” I sighed. She threw her hands up in frustration and surrender, turned her back to me and muttered something about never asking for a daughter that was so daring.
Serena and Lucy stayed over, taking shifts for watch. I felt as if I was in hiding…though there was no place to hide in New York. Of course, the vampire knew that. He was using it, no doubt.
He was watching the window intently. Every thought that entered his mind were different ways to lure her to her death. ‘She was too smart for to fall for any of that,’ He told himself. He smiled as he pictured her face in the window, looking down at him.
It was a shame to have to kill such a beautiful creature. He could use her but he knew she would never agree. She thought vampires, especially him for killing her friends, were evil.
“Hey buddy, what do you think you are doing?” The doorman from her building asked.
“Merely sightseeing.” He answered with a polite smile.
“Sightseeing into a woman’s window is against the law.” The child growled. He frowned.
“Minding your own business will keep you alive longer.”
“Are you threatening” He started to say but was cut off when the vampire sank his teeth into his neck. There wasn’t even time for him to scream.
When he was finished, he took a piece of paper and a pen from the boy, wrote something down, folded it in half then placed it on the boy’s chest. He smiled at his work then looked back up to the window. His grin widened as he watched me. I wanted to look away but I couldn’t. I was hypnotized.
His face was suddenly in front of mine, only a few centimeters between us. He grabbed my chin to pull me closer, our noses slightly crushing.
“Having fun yet?” He asked then was gone.
I woke up screaming, wrestling with air. Lucy restrained my thrashing arms while Serena covered my mouth, muffling my cries. “It’s ok sweeties, you aren’t there anymore,” She soothed/ It took minutes before I calmed.
“What the heck was that about?” Lucy asked, pushing a strand of hair out of her eyes.
“Close the blinds,” I whispered.
“Why?”
“He’s out there, just do it!” That got them moving. Lucy dashed over the bed and in one swift movement, closed the drapes.
“How do you know that?” Serena asked.
“I’m not having visions, Serena,” I whimpered, “He’s in my head…and he’s just committed another murder right beneath my window.”
“Is he dead?” I asked Blare quietly, keeping my eyes down.
“Yes,” He sighed. Tears came again. Another innocent life taken because of me. I was beginning to hate myself.
“Same way. It was him.” Lucy stated.
“Aurora, you probably shouldn’t see this but you need to.” Blare placed a paper in my lap. I opened it up.
Is three your lucky number Aurora?
I crumbled the paper up and threw it onto the ground. Serena picked it up and read it. She looked over it thoughtfully. “For looking like a pro, he isn’t very original,” She mumbled.
“You know what it means, don’t you?” I asked through clenched teeth.
“There is going to be a third and final victim,” She answered. She didn’t get it. “What’s your point?”
“Who do you think is the third?” I asked quietly. Serena’s eyes widened. Lucy looked furious. Blare was horrified.
“Like I said, he’s unoriginal.” Serena grimaced. “But I understand why he is going it. The police are looking for some psychopathic serial killer.”
“What are their theories for the missing blood?” Lucy asked.
“Needles and lots of them,” He replied. “There had been mass robberies at hospitals in the area. The only thing taken was…”
“Needles.” We all said in unison.
“Great, he’s covering up his tracks,” Lucy mumbled. Her eyes flared with annoyance. Serena hugged me while Lucy continued to babble on, “I have to give him props. He is no amateur. He knows what he is doing.”
“That is what I am afraid of.” I sighed.

Life comes with a Deadly Price
chapter 3
For a late summer evening, it was abnormally cold. I guessed it was about fifty-eight degrees but with the breeze, it was much cooler. Surely, this was unusual for New York.
Though, yes, it was cold, I was sweating. I felt flushed, as if I ad just completed a rough workout or a long run. Really, all I had done was take a short walk to and from my local Starbucks, a favorite place I like to hang out at.
I laid on my bed, slowly sipping the nice ice coffee I had gotten. I had my radio blaring, playing a loud Melody by Paramore, hoping the people who lived above me where annoyed. Of course, they could yell and stomp all they wanted but if anybody else made a racket, the cops were called or you got a scolding from them. I really didn’t care though. It’s my music, not theirs. And anyway, if I had to listen to them twenty-four/seven, then they could suffer through some innocent head-banging singing.
Both of my pets were curled up on either side of me. Artemus, my black and gray Maine Coon, was right next to my shoulder while Zeus, my giant German Shepard, was next to my ankles. They were my protectors when I was home alone, which was most of the time. My mom worked so long that the only time I get to see her is when she takes off for vacation. Basically, I’ve raised myself since the time I was eight.
Brrrrring! My cell phone went off, startling me a little. Artemus meowed loudly, making me aware that I had disturbed her.
“Hello?” I asked when I answered the phone. No answer. “Hello?” I hung up and relaxed a little probably wrong number. I checked their number but it wasn’t one I recognize. Oh whatever.
I was awakened by a blood curdling scream. My eyelids fluttered as I regained my sense. I was having a dream…right?
Another scream, much more painful and frightening, filled my ears. I no longer saw the surroundings of my bedroom but instead was in a dark alley. Two figures wrestled and struggled with each other. It was too dark to see their faces or any kind of color detail. What I could tell was that, by both of the figures, one was a man and the other was a woman.
The taller figure, the man, dragged her behind something, my guess was a dumpster. Her cries for help got softer and weaker as time crept by. They were becoming whispers of death.
On the other side of the alley, my eyes focused on a neon sign I had recognized. In bright green letters was Starbucks. It was the one I had just come from a little while ago. Oh my God…
After her whispers were gone, I was back in my room. I flew off my pillow, breathing very heavily. I grabbed my phone and sweatshirt then dashed out the door, leaving it wide open with the radio still on. It didn’t really matter. We had nothing too valuable that couldn’t be replaced.
As I got on the city streets, I pushed past people, ignoring their angry protests. I ran as fast as I could though I knew it wasn’t fast enough. I called Officer Blare, the only cop I knew and trusted well and explained everything. He said he would be there in minutes. He also said that when I get there, and the murderer was still there, that I was to get away as quickly as I could. I agreed and pushed harder through the crowds, probably knocking people down. Oh well. I needed to try to save this woman’s life.
When I went to turn onto the street, I slowed down. It was unusually empty and quiet. The only noises were from the streets before, the distant car horns and night club music. I crept father down, being as quiet as I could. I opened my phone to text Blare.
Aurora: No police sirens. If he is still here, he will suspect.
Blare: No sirens, good idea. Four blocks away. Be careful.
Aurora: Always am.
Starbucks was closed, as were the other stores on this street. The city didn’t bother to put up street lamps here; the only lights were the security lights. Hopefully they will learn now that these streets are just as important.
I peeked down the alleyway from my vision, looking for any signs of life. Nothing. Not even a stupid rat. The wind blew trash around. Nothing else moved. I opened my phone and began to walk down the alley, bravely but carefully. I kept my guard up, poised for anything, whether it was a gun or an ax.
I spotted the bulky object from my vision and sped up my walking towards it. I took a deep breath and gulped. I shined the light from my phone in back of it. I prayed silently that nothing was there. Of course, my prayers are never answered. I gasped when it reveled what was there.
Wendy, the manager from Starbucks, laid there in the dirt and trash in an awkward position. Her eyes were hallowing, showing no signs of life. Her skin was snow white and her lips were blue. She was long gone. There was no chance. “Wendy?” I whispered. My head spun, making me awfully dizzy. I stumbled back, landing in someone’s arms. I screamed, just like she had.
“It’s ok, Aurora. It’s just me,” Blare soothed. Tears flowed from my eyes, clouding my vision. He pulled me out of the alley and towards the ambulance. They gave me a blanket then went to investigate.
I called my friends, Lucy and Serena, telling them to hurry over. It took them less than five minutes. “Oh Aurora, I’m so sorry,” Serena hugged me tightly. Lucy joined the hug but then quickly went off to the cops for details.
“Why Wendy?” I asked, mostly to myself.
“I don’t know honey.”
“I mean, she couldn’t even hurt a stupid fly! She was the sweetest person ever and now she’s gone! What had she done to deserve this?” I broke into a fit of sobs, leaning into Serena and began to cry once again.
“Why was I the only one to see this?”
“I don’t know, Aurora, I don’t know anything anymore.”
“Guys we got a problem.” Lucy and Blare locked nervous and scared as they joined us. Blare handed me an envelope.
Miss Aurora Pierse
My breath caught. My heart raced as I opened it. It was a letter written in the same fancy calligraphy.
Dear Miss Pierse,
I hope you are the only one to see my letter to you but if not, so be it. I am informed you see things, the future, most importantly. I thought I should test his for myself. I will be watching for when you arrive.
If it weren’t for your gift, you wouldn’t have to deal with me. You are a deadly threat to my existence, Aurora/ I don’t like playing games with children but since you are different, I am looking forward to it.
And before I end, I must say your friend was quite adorable while trying to escape.

Renesmee's Highschool years
chapter 2
What do people usually wear on their first day of high school? What do people were on their first day of school ever? My mind spun with these questions as I destroyed my closet. I didn’t know what to look for. I didn’t want to be too bold or too shy looking. I needed help.
I pulled my phone out of my pocket and began to call Aunt Alice. She would know what to wear. She was the expert! I explained my fashion problem to her. She said she’s be down in a second. She hung up without even saying goodbye.
Well, she was down here in a second, alright. She pranced into my room with a wide grin. She laughed when she saw the mess I had made. “Looks like you do need help, Ness.” She giggled.
“I don’t know what is high school material.” I admitted, biting my lip. She immediately started digging through my clothes.
“I heard you need a makeup assistance, Alice.” Aunt Rose leaned against the doorframe and smiled. She winked at me. “So what are we going for?”
“A punkish look. A look that says don’t you dare mess with me.” Alice described.
“Why?” I asked nervously.
“High school can be hell, Ness. It’ll be easier for you since you’re so beautiful and insanely sweet but some girls don’t like that. Giving that kind of appearance could help keep them off your back. Though we’ll be able to help you a little, you need to be able to defend yourself since we are going to be two grades ahead.”
“You make the other kids sound evil.” I laughed. She smiled.
“Honey, we’ve been through high school for so many times, I can’t even count. We know what it is like. It wasn’t so bad time we went but that’s because the humans knew we were different. They didn’t know we were vampires but they knew we were not to be messed with.”
“She’s right Ness. It’s different here than it was in Forks.” Alice agreed.
“But we are only in Portland. How is it so different?”
“It’s the city. Kids in the city aren’t as nice. “
“Oh.” I frowned. Rose had me sit in my computer chair and started doing my makeup. She was lining my eyes thick with whatever liner she was using.
“Purple or black, Ness?” Alice asked.
“What is it?”
“Pants.”
“Black then, please.” I said. She laid them on my lap and began to work again. I felt the material and noticed it was leather. Oh God, what did she have in her mind?
“Ok Ness, your makeup is done. You can open your eyes.” Rose cooed. I opened up and looked in the mirror. My eye shadow was a plum color. The liner was heavy and black. My eyebrows were perfectly in shape and dark. My lips were a pretty cherry red. My cheeks were bright.
“Wow.” I said. I liked the look, actually.
“Ok, here are the rest of your clothes. We’ll be waiting right outside the door. Oh and here, I changed my mind about the pants.” Alice said. She took the leather pants off my lap and gave me a short leather skirt. “It’ll make your legs look better. We’ll be back in when you need your hair done and shoes picked out. ” She added.
“Thanks.” I took the rest of the clothes off my lap and sat them on the chair. They closed the door as I started to get changed. I slid the fishnet stockings on first, then the skirt. Next came the shirt, which was a black blouse with a silver chain around the waist.
Alice and Rose came back in when I opened the door. They observed me, head to toe, smiled, and then nodded. “For hair, we could go with a French braid.” Rose suggested.
“Yeah that will look good. Boots or heels, Ness?”
“Heels. It’s too hot for boots.” I said. She nodded and went deeper in my closet. Rose led me over to my bed and had me sit in front of her.
“Nervous?” She asked.
“A little.”
“You don’t have to worry, Nessie. They’ll like you. You just got to be yourself.” She said softly.
“I know. But it’s not just that.”
“Your mom and dad.”
“Yeah.” I whispered.
“They will be back this weekend honey. They need to be with each other alone for a little. They didn’t get much time with you on the way.” She explained.
“I know. And I’m glad they are getting the chance. I just miss them terribly.”
“I know sweetie. It’s going to be hard to start without them their but you’ll have me and Alice and Emmett and Jasper with you the whole time. Even the moronic dog friend of yours.” She laughed. I knew she and Jacob were starting to get along but I still wish she didn’t call him things like that.
“Ok, I found the perfect shoes!” Alice exclaimed after a few moments of silent hair braiding. She leaped over the clothes pile and ran over to us. She opened the box and pulled out a pair of stilettos.
“Oh Alice, they are just like the ones Bella wore to her first prom. “
“I know Rose, I know but they aren’t the same.” She muttered and started sliding one onto my foot. It felt like I was wearing Cinderella’s glass slipper.
I observed the show. It was white glass, indeed, but held on by three thin black straps. They fit perfectly, which surprised me. They actually felt comfortable.
When Rose finished, they took me to the bathroom to look in the mirror. I couldn’t believe what I was seeing! In front of me was this tall, bronze-haired teenager with glowing skin, sparkling eyes, and very red cheeks. She was in all black, which defined her figure more. Her legs looked longer in the stockings and heels.
I didn’t recognize myself. I was so use to wearing jeans, a t-shirt and sneakers or flip-flops. Now, I looked more like a vampire. I was sure of myself, self-confidence hitting its peak.
Rose and Alice stood behind me, smiling back at me through the mirror. “Now this will knock their socks off.” Alice smirked. I laughed and hoped she was right.
I carefully walked down the stairs, having my hand poised so I could grab the railing if I were to fall. Alice walked in front of me as a precaution while Rose walked behind with a hand on my shoulder.
“Hear ye, hear ye!” Alice called at the bottom of the stairs. Everyone gathered around us, smiling brightly. “We have finished with the candidate! Wish her luck for things to come!”
Everyone laughed at Alice’s medieval announcement. Carlisle and Esme both hugged me and wished me good luck. Esme had managed to fill a container of blood for me for lunch.
“Don’t let any humans drink this, ok?” She said. I nodded and put it in my bag. I sat down in between Emmett and Jasper while Rose and Alice got dressed. They didn’t say anything about my outfit, thank God. They just sat there with me, watching the TV.
When Rose and Alice were finished, we were off. I rode with the guys (Alice’s idea to promote the punk appearance with the jeep) as Alice and Rose followed behind in the convertible. It didn’t take long with how fast they were driving. Basically, I couldn’t wait until I could drive.
When we got there, Emmett and Jasper helped me get out and took me over to meet with Alice and Rose, who were only nanoseconds behind us. Alice wrapped her arm around my shoulder and led me up to the building. “You are nervous?”
“A little,” I answered. She smiled and squeezed my shoulders tightly.
“It’ll be fine, Ness. We’ll be here throughout the day remember that. And the kids are bound to be nice to you. You’re too beautiful.” Rose cooed. I smiled to myself.
We walked into the main office, got our schedules then started heading to our correct buildings. Alice walked me to mine while the others waved goodbye.

If Bella Wasn't Human
chapter 1
Demetri burst through the doors, running right up to Aro and me. He looked worried and scared which was unusual for him. “We have visitors.” He gasped. I straightened up, just as shocked as he was.
Aro held out his hand to him, seeing in his face that there was something he didn’t want to announce to the rest of us. I stared curiously at Aro’s face, watching his expression go from blank to amused. He let go of his hand and looked at Alec and Jane. “Dear ones, will you take Bella to get changed into something fancy? Something that shows her beauty in power? We want to show her off to our strange guests, I’m sure.”
Jane stared at him confusingly but still came up and got me. She pulled me along, though I did not want to leave my master’s side. He nodded in approval so I would give in. Fat chance. “It’s ok young one. This is important.”
I followed Jane up to the dressing corridors. Jane told the maids what Aro had in mind and immediately they got to work. They first dressed me in a purple gown, one that showed a little too much skin but wasn’t overly bearing. I looked kind of sexy in it.
They gave me a pair of black stilettos with a heel that was over a half a foot. I had on my lucky ankle bracelet, which only made my legs look more transparent and luminous with a silver glow. They let my hair fall into my natural red curls that shined under any type of light. My makeup was darker then I usually wear it although it makes my eyes look brighter.
When they were finished with me, I kind of looked like a badass Barbie doll. Alec liked it, of course, but suggested the dress be a little sheerer. I slapped him for that. Jane laughed obnoxiously at her brother.
They dragged me back down to the courtroom quickly, not daring to be a minute late. When we got there, every guard member was alert. They lined the walls like frozen statues of Caesar’s army. Aro waved for us to come over. He told Jane and Alec to stand on opposite sides of each other at the bottom of the stairs. I was to stand next to him, which made me feel better to be close to him.
“Less than a minute. They’ve gotten tired of Felix’s distraction.” One of the maids warned. Aro nodded and told her to step out of the way. He stood, just as the double doors flew open. I gasped when I saw who it was. Jane gave me a sympathetic look. I nodded and tried to smile. It didn’t work.
“Carlisle, my old friend, how are you?” Aro asked in a friendly manner. Carlisle didn’t respond the same tone.
“What have you done with her, Aro?” He demanded.
“What do you mean?” Aro smiled. I had to stop myself from laughing. He knew how to act.
“You know what I mean. Where is Sam? What did you do to her?”
“Oh, Sam? Nothing you would care about.” He chuckled. A loud growl overtook the silence. Alice.
“Don’t give me that crap, Aro, I smell her scent. Where is she?”
“I’m afraid your tone upsets me, dear Alice. But I will not answer.”
“Did you kill her Aro?” Carlisle asked in a desperate voice. Aro didn’t answer.
“Oh my God…” someone wept. Esme. I could identify her voice from anywhere, even miles away. She was the only one I cared about that left heart broken tonight. I still kept my mouth shut.
“I didn’t necessarily kill her, Carlisle. She’s more alive than she ever has been. It would shock you on the change she’s gone through in the past year. She’s matured so much you don’t even recognize her.” Aro laughed. They all looked confused…except for Rosalie, who stared at me with such shock, I didn’t know whether to be offended or flattered.
“You changed her? Aro, how could you?” Carlisle gasped. I laughed silently to myself. This was better than TV.
“Not in the way you are thinking about.” He said. He looked at Cauis, who continued.
“We will give her a choice. She can remain to be hidden or she can come out and show you she’s not the pathetic human you thought she was before you decided to abandon her. I, especially, will not force her to do anything she prefers not to do, since I care for the child. Sam?”
I waited perfectly still, not knowing what to do. If I were to not reveal myself, I might regret it but if I showed myself, would I regret that too?
“Is this your choice, young one? Do you choose to stay unknown?” Cauis asked. I bit my lip for a moment, tasting my own blood them stepped forward. Many gasps filled the air.
I walked up to Aro’s side, placing a hand on his shoulder, and closed my eyes. No going back now. “Sam?” Alice asked with a very uncertain tone. I opened my eyes and glared at her.
“What kind of joke is this, Aro?” Carlisle hissed. Hurt washed through my veins.
“Carlisle, I’d watch what you say. She’s very sensitive. You can see it on her face that she’s upset as it is. I’m sure your one coven member can tell you that too.” Cauis snapped. He came over to my other side and leaned against me protectively. They all looked back at Jasper. He nodded.
“What did they do to you?” Alice stepped forward, too close to me. I leaned forward and hissed, against my own judgment but with my own instincts. She backed up, a scared look overtaking her other emotions. I stepped back, ashamed of what I had done. Alec came over and hugged me.
“It’s ok, angel, they can’t hurt you. I won’t let them.” He whispered.
“That’s not what I’m worried about.” I whispered back. More gasps filled the air, followed by a more powerful growl. I looked back at them and saw that he was now in the front, staring at me with wide eyes. I bared my teeth and growled back, tears streaming down my cheeks. The blood pulsed through my face. Alec held onto my arms, as if I were going to attack them at any minute given the chance. I really don’t blame him.
“What have I done?” Edward through his head back and sighed. He returned his stare back to me. “I’m sorry I did this to you, love.”
“You’re sorry?” I asked through clenched teeth. The heavier tears clouded my vision in less then a second. There went my make-up.
“You’re right. Sorry can’t even make up half of the thing I’ve done.” He said thoughtfully.
“Why should you care, bloodsucker? You never cared.” I snapped. He flinched back.
“I deserved that one. But you are wrong. I have always cared about you.”
I laughed, showing no humor, just mockery. “Yeah you sure have showed it enough.”
“Sam, he’s not lying. You know I’ve always told you the truth and now I’m telling you again.” Alice said. I shook off Alec’s arms and walked down the stairs to stand in front of her. She didn’t move back. She didn’t look the least bit of scared anymore.
“I don’t care whether he is or not Alice. He left. He lied to me and basically told me I was nothing to him. Do you think I’m just going to let that go?” I asked. Her expression went harsh. She turned around to face him.
“You told me you told her the truth that it was for her own safety we leave.”
“If that wasn’t enough, she didn’t come out of those trails for over three days because she was depressed. Her father had to call in police forces and a few of the werewolves just to find her. She was delirious when they found her. After that, it cost her almost all of her friends because of her sadness. Her father nearly sent her back to her mother, away from the place she loved. Don’t tell me that what he told you caused her to go through hell.” Jane snapped.
“I saw her jump off a cliff but she never came out. How are you still alive? Why did you even jump?” Alice turned back to me.
“I got bored. There was nothing else to do. And it’s called swimming. You’ve heard of it.” I smirked. She frowned. Emmett laughed loudly.
“Did you also wrestle a werewolf, too?” he asked.
“Yeah. Wasn’t as fun as the cliff.” I shrugged. He laughed even harder.
“God I’ve missed you.” He smiled and shook his head. I smiled a little. Esme, Carlisle, and him where the only ones I couldn’t be mad at for leaving. They wouldn’t have left if they had a choice.
“Same here buddy.” I whispered. Esme walked in front of her, keeping eye contact with me. I walked forward to her. She looked at me for a moment then wrapped her arms around me. I hugged her tightly, the tears exploding. This was a lot harder then I thought.

One of my favourite characters in the book has to be the 15 (forever) vampire girl Jenna who is very much into pink inc pink fairy lights by her bed, I do hope she will also be in the next book as she is too good for just one book.

Did you notice the loose end with the Blond Male Vampires wife, his wife was raped and killed then he was killed and dumped in a river to be found by Indians (Did the river run up hill for him to end up so far inland!) so the wife could be a vampire to turn up in the future.
