I quite enjoyed the book. The murder plot is simple and straightforward. It becomes the main subject only towards the tail end of the book, the rest of it focused on Lady Julia. Even so, I thoroughly enjoyed the humor in the writing and the characters were entertaining till the very end. I just finished the second book. Same feedback again :) the murder is an afterthought in this series haha

Great, if you have audible escape, the first three are on it. I think the entire series is on Unlimited.

Oh, try secrets of the zodiac. It’s very light, more romance than mystery. Silent in the grave is pretty light too (going off of the first half, I can’t imagine it suddenly taking a dark turn)
I haven’t tried anything by her before, let me go look her up!
EDIT: Oh, vampires and military romance. Not my cup of tea haha

Yeah, I’m roughly 33% through. I’m liking it so far, even though book is set in the 19th century, the characters have a very modern view on life (the widow’s father hints at her to have an affair LOL) and the writing is humorous. The murder has been more on the background than the forefront so far, but I’m hoping that would change soon.
Is there an audio version of the book? I couldn’t find it in any of my libraries :(

I’ll add that to my TBR :) thanks!

Kayaks sound lovely! Hope you have fun :)

Yeah! I'm really enjoying it :)

I'm amazed at the number of books you have read this round. It's totally awesome. Well done everyone.

Oh wow! That's awesome.
Question though - why is it better to read longer books than to read more books? For eg - I would enjoy reading 2 medium length books (~300 pages each ) more than I would enjoy reading one 600 page book because the longer book will definitely have some draggy bits in the middle and I'd just lose interest. And I feel like the longer books take forever to get to the main story LOL. I have read very few long books that have been fast paced start to finish. Any thoughts?

Great! Glad you enjoyed it. I think I loved book 1 t..."
Cool - Jane Eyre has been on my TBR forever! I'll read that :)
Has anyone read it? I feel like the classics are always a hit or miss. You either love it or hate it!
