Just finished a book... debating whether to read another Stephen King or first read another shorter Netgalley. I feel bad because my book count is rather low

I finished 11.22.63 . I loved the book. It took me a longer time to finish because I had camp to coach at this week so was a bit busy, but I loved everything about it!

I am focusing on finishing 11.22.63. I took a bit of a break from this book to read Paper Towns (which I really struggled with) but excited to get back to something I find interesting... hopefully will have it finished in about 3 days.

I added it to the spreadsheet, but can you add it to your shelf please?
Here's my ideas for the DQs. Definitely not as much as Vi and Elinor had, but that's because they hit a lot of the spots I was thinking! Also, sorry about this late post, I just finished the section...

Obviously you guys don't need to use these if you guys don't want to. Just thought I'd offer up some more ideas, but we already have really great ones :)

       DQs Day 3 - 17 JuneChapters 7 - 8, 26%
10) We find out more about Frank Dunning. He is portrayed as a smooth talker and good looking. Do you find this stereotypical of someone who will go on to murder most of his family? It always seems to be someone no one suspects. Jake's opinion of him obviously isn't very good. Do you think Jake would feel differently if he didn't know what Frank was going to do?
When I read this, I immediately thought of Ted Bundy. I do think that serial killers do tend to be charismatic and hard to detect. The only one of the top of my head that wasn't charismatic would be Jeffrey Dahmer. I do think that Jake is biased against Frank because he knows what he plans to do. If he didn't know, I'm sure that he would be like everyone else during this time period and overlook the small signs.
11) Jake plans how he is going to stop Frank. Would your thought process have been the same as Jake's? How would you plan to change the event?
My thought process would definitely be different. I know that Frank is an awful man, but I don't think I would be able to live with myself if I ever killed someone, no matter what bad deed I knew they would commit. I would probably try to get a police officer near the house right before Frank was walking to the house in a drunken, angry state with a hammer. The police officer would probably arrest him on the spot for public intoxication, no one would have to die in this case and I would be able to sleep at night still.
12) There is something off about Derry. The place itself feels weird and the people act strange. Would you stay somewhere where you don't feel welcome? Would you investigate more into what was going on?
I would not stay at Derry, but the place does seem to have a way of trapping those that live there. It's almost like there's no way to leave once you enter the town. I feel like I would not investigate more into this town after saving the Dunning family because the town seems so dark and almost cursed.
13) Well, stoppping Frank didn't go to plan but he did get stopped. What do you think the cosequences of changing the event will be in the present, if any? Do you think he will go back and try again? If so, what do you think he will do differently?
I don't think that the attempt will fully change history. I suspect that Harry will hurt his leg in another way and his siblings and mom will be killed in a different way. The past is in fact difficult to change. I think he will try to save the brother that still got killed when he goes back.

       Day 2 DQs
       Day 2 DQsChapter 4 - 6 or 18%
#5. How did you feel when you read Harry Dunning's essay? What would you have done if you had the power to enact change in the past?
I felt awful for his family. I mean, his siblings died and they did nothing wrong. His mother as well, although I guess there was a fight there, but it didn't seem like she was in the wrong. I think if I were trying to enact change, I would find a way to lure a police officer towards the house before the murders occurred, maybe when drunk, angry Frank was walking up to the house.
#6. Money is a big deal in any timeline. Would you be able to acclimate to the past in terms of financial transactions as well as Jake? Do you think Jake acclimated TOO quickly?
I think that it helped that inflation occurred over the years. This made getting the money easier (i think). I think that Jake lost out on quite a few deals by just agreeing to the prices a little too quickly, probably because in his time that would be a deal.
#7. Fashion is also an issue in the past. Do you think Jake is having an easier time of it because he is a man? What would be the most challenging fashion change for you to get used to? Is there something you would love to be able to wear?
I think so. Imagine the main character being a women and showing up in a pair of pants! Everyone would know something was weird about her. I think for me, the most challenging thing for me to get used to would be the long skirts. I'm not a very big fan of skirts from the start and they just seem so hot! I may like a few of the dresses from that time, but I also like my dresses to be shorter than this time period...
#8. There are a lot of interesting nods to older Advertising terms and slogans that King uses to help the reader recognize the timeline change of the past. Which one stood out to you the most and why?
I think the older advertising terms and slogans all went over my head...
#9. If you have read any past King novels, some of these chapters have a lot of connections to early books about Derry, Maine, and surrounding locations. Did you find any Easter eggs from previous stories? If you haven't read earlier King novels, what about Derry seemed to stand out as unique to you?
I have not yet read any other books by Stephen King (this will be my first), but something that stands out about Derry is just how unwilling it is to be changed. There were murders there in the past and the murders that Jake was trying to fix seemed to not want to be fixed. Also the people of Derry didn't seem to think the murders were over despite saying that they thought they were. This kind of seems like in IT (from the movie) when people were concerned about the children going missing/dying, but nobody was really doing anything to help. The town in general just seems to have an evil vibe to it which I also saw in IT, the movie.

       Day 1 DQs: ch1- 3
Day 1 DQs: ch1- 31) I have only read a few of Stephen King's books. Is this your first book by the author or are you quite familiar with his storytelling?
I have not yet read a Stephen King book and I've been dying to. I love horror books so realistically, I totally should've read one by now. I have only seen the movie IT. But so far, I'm really liking his writing style.
2) What do you think about the character Jake so far? Would you have gone along with what Al wanted and took the initial step back into the past, or would you have not humoured him and tried to get him help?
I like Jake, but maybe that is more so me liking Stephen King's writing (I am also a lot farther than chapter 3 at this point so I forget my initial impressions). I think I would go along with it, but I also wouldn't have believed Al at first.
3) I am not sure how I would feel if I just stepped back into the past the way Jake and Al have, but I am really curious about how the time travelling works in this story. It seemed that Jake was somewhat calm about it. How do you think you would feel if it was you?
I think I would be terrified at first, but then get really excited and go exploring. It's not everyday you get to travel to a whole new time period.
4) I think it is clear that Jake is going to pick up Al's mission to try and stop the JFK assassination. Would you choose to continue Al's mission? Also how much do you know of the history surrounding this event?
I think I would, but I also think i would be very hesitant like Jake. I don't know much surrounding the JFK assassination because I wasn't alive. All I know, I learned in high school and it was a very brief lesson. I am looking forward to learning more with this book though.
