35559 It seems like Funny Story must be good, it's so well rated!

35559 I liked Book Lovers a lot, and Happy Place was alright, but I didn't really enjoy Beach Read or People We Meet on Vacation. They weren't bad (I still gave them 3 stars), but I can hardly recall what happened in any of them (other than Book Lovers).

35559 I put both on hold at the library, but they have long waits, so I won't sign up for DQs until I have a better idea of if I can get them in time.

I could probably be ok with using an Audible credit for The Berry Pickers, but I am not a huge fan of Emily Henry's writing, so, I might not for that one... I'll think about it.

Laura, was it good? I find her stuff to be just eh.. I know so many people love her! The synopsis is promising though...

Well DANG! I'll still be reading the book though! Do we have a name for the next one yet?

35559 Did you do a post in the First Class Lounge, yet? I know we commented before you had, so I didn't keep checking the thread after. That might help!

35559 Yes, I talked with Bernadette too! I'll send her the link to the thread, so I'm sure she will check in on mobile at some point!

35559 I love a good Night Huntress novel too!
May 11, 2025 10:07AM

35559 or... wait, is that the one where they actually go to Europe, it's been so long, I can't remember!?

35559 Laura! just a heads up! Magic Rises is set in Georgia, the state, not the country! However, that series is phenomenal, so I say read it anyway and use it for something else!!!
May 11, 2025 09:24AM

35559 Oh, here is my "tenative list" for some of the harder countries, most of these I was already able to get from the library, and some are holds!

Zimbabwe – This Mournable Body
Ghana – Homegoing
Sri Lanka – The Seven Moons of Maali Almeida
Georgia – The Eighth Life
Bangladesh – A Golden Age
Cambodia – First They Killed My Father: A Daughter of Cambodia Remembers
Lebanon – An Unnecessary Woman
Tunisia – The Ardent Swarm
Colombia – The Bitch

35559 Hey y’all! I’m Ashley — 39 (but only for a hot minute), reporting in from sweet home Alabama (CST zone, where the tea is sweet, but I’m not). I’ve been doing these challenges forever, usually guiding the chaos as a team captain, but this round I’m giving myself a break! I'm here to vibe, read, and stir up a tiny bit of friendly mischief. 😇

I run a pet-centric small biz, which means my life is a blur of fur, barking, and the occasional emergency "glitter" cleanup. When I’m not wrangling dogs or chasing down missing inventory, I’m probably drinking coffee, sipping wine, and hoarding books like a literary dragon. 🐉📚

Genre-wise, I live for fantasy and romance, but I’ll happily detour into memoirs and historical fiction if there’s drama or feelings or, let’s be honest, a tragic love story.

This round, I’m ridiculously excited about the obscure/underrepresented countries, I'm really hoping it cures my book hangover from Sunrise on the Reaping / general reading slump — I already have a list, a backup list, and probably a backup for my backup. I’m basically on a one-woman mission to take this challenge on a global tour. 🌍✈️

Oh, and did I mention I’m turning the big 4-0 at the end of the month? So let’s make this round a birthday bash! Bring on the books, the shenanigans, and all the chaotic good energy. Let’s gooo! 🎉📖💃

35559 Oh goodie! I just found this! It's been on my shelf for awhile, well both books, so now I just have to decide which to tackle first.

I read a few opinions on the matter, and most agree you should read Priory first if you'd appreciate an easier introduction into the world and a better foundation for the legends, etc.

That being said, I may go in chronological order, since I don't really mind world building or lack of it...

35559 Thanks TEAM! 🎉
Wow, what a wild ride through the most boring parts of life! 😂 Who knew hunting for a lost bill could be so... EXCITING! You guys made it awesome!

35559 1 hour left!

Any other books to add?
Dec 07, 2024 11:50AM

35559 megan, I switched out one of your other books for the "The Only Woman in the Room (Marie Benedict)", so you don't have to rush to finish that by the deadline, you're at your max with the switch.
