Day 1 DQs Chapters 1 - 4 (for October 2nd)
1. Our setting for this book is the world of Greek mythology. What is your background with Greek mythology? How do you think your knowledge and opinions of Greek mythology will influence your reading of this book?

2. In the first few chapters, we are introduced to Circe's family. I found myself having many different feelings about the characters presented. Which relationship has caused you the most emotion? What is it about that relationship that causes those emotions?

3. Why does Circe approach Prometheus? How do you think this will affect her later in the book?

4. How does Glaucos's position affect what he sees in Circe? If Gaucos was invited to a family reunion of Circe's, how do you think he would compare her to others in her family?

Thank you for the answers for the cookbooks! I can't find information about regular nonfiction though. If I am reading a biography, can I use words from it? (I have the The Monk of Mokha which probably has a lot of coffee references...) Can I use people from the biography as characters? Same with other nonfiction history books? Can I use generals or other historical figures in spell outs? I do like non-fiction :) and fiction, and everything...

For other non-fiction books, what can I use in this challenge?

I have to read a cookbook for another challenge. I am wondering if I read it during this time can I use any of the words in the cookbook for scavenger items?

I need teammates :) I can read 3 books a week for about 12 a month. Once I get going on these challenges though, I usually read more :)

It looks like it is too long ago for me to remember Pachinko easily enough to answer all the questions today! Sorry about that!

Thank you all for a great reading challenge. I really enjoyed hearing about what you all were reading, and I have several more books on my TBR because of it :) I wish you all well, and I hope to see you in a reading challenge to come!!

I just remembered I also have a Carl Hiaasen book with an Orli as a character - and the second Naomi Novik's book is available on audio from my library - Uprooted - I really liked her first book.

Perfect. It’s on hold for a while on audio, but I can pick it up in print tomorrow. I’ll scroll for other Os on Our library’s audio. Thanks for the recommendation!

I'm finishing a biography that will only work for an A, but I'm pretty free for the rest of the week to read another - and listen to one more that that. I have a Y book handy, but I'm up for any letter, I think!
