10. As we reach the halfway point I am seeing more and more similarities to the Amelia Peabody series. Is anyone else finding this. Does this affect your impression of the book?
I haven't read that series so I have nothing to compare it against.
11. We have been introduced to a number of Characters is there anyone that particularly stands out?
I want to know what's up with Tio Ricardo.
12. We have been introduced to Isadora and her Father. Why do you think he doesn’t let her out of his sight?
There's no chaperone for her which is strange and the fact that he seems to be latched to her 24/7 so strange for this time period.
13. Inez seems to be attuned to Cleopatra and sees some of her memories. If you could choose to see one memory of a historical figure whose memory would it be?
So many people to choose from!

Part One, Chapter 6 - Part One, Chapter 12
6. In this part Inez spends some time with Mr. Hayes. What did you think of their afternoon in Cairo? Did you enjoy their banter?
It was ok and what I would expect between the two of them. Inez is young and somewhat annoying. Actually they are are both somewhat annoying. I'm not really liking their characters so far. I'm also listening to the book so maybe that has something to do with my annoyance.
7. After sensing familiar magic from an old trinket, Inez buys it and later has a vision of Cleopatra. What do you think this vision means? Do you believe Cleopatra’s burial site can only be found with Inez’s help?
I think Inez is going to play a large part in them finding the burial site because why else would we have this story? Also, since she believes in magic and her family is tied to magic it only makes sense for her to have "magical" visions.
8. Every now and then, the point of view shifts briefly to Mr. Hayes. Do you enjoy these moments from his perspective, or would you prefer the story to stay entirely with Inez?
The change of perspective is good as it gives more insight as to what is going on. I actually like his voice better in the audiobook.
9. Inez finds a letter from her mother, in which she suspects that Tío Ricardo is involved in illegal activities. Does this letter, along with the boat conversation Inez overhears, make you suspicious of Tío Ricardo? Or do you think he’s not responsible for Inez’s parents’ murder?
I've been suspicious since the get go. I don't think he killed the parents he seems too tied to them but I have a feeling he was doing something they didn't approve of

Prologue - Part 1 Ch 5
1. The first line is “A letter changed my life.” Would you say this was a good start, cheesy start, or are you indifferent?
I would say it's a good start because it drew me right in. I became curious as to how it changed her life.
2. Why do you think Tio Roberto wanted to immediately send Inez back to Egypt without even seeing her? Do you think he’s hiding something? Or do you think it’s just typical of men at that time to dismiss young women and enforce them being chaperoned and taken care of?
I definitely think he's hiding something. He wants her out of his hair and back in Argentina clueless as to what is going on/has happened with her parents.
3. The ring scene with Thomas Sterling was definitely outrageous; I felt Inez's outrage and all of her shock. Do you expect to see the ring later in the story? Any guesses to its significance?
I do think it will be seen again, I think it has something to do with her parents deaths.
4. What do you think of the writing style and the pacing so far? Are you enjoying the lyrical, rich descriptions or do you prefer a more fast paced story?
It's been ok so far, I'm listening to the book and the pacing seems to be good.
5. In Ch. 5 we see politics at play, and we can tell this is just the beginning. How do you think this will affect your enjoyment of the book? Will it enhance the story for you or will you feel bogged down by the details?
I like politics and I like drama especially in a historical sense as long as it stays mostly factual. I think I'll enjoy it even more so.

I just got home from work and saw that our group had gone live. I generally work evenings to late night so you'll probably find me on here at all hours of the day and night.
I've participated in Tower Teams several times and enjoyed it immensely each time. I did not participate the last time though and I can't seem to remember why-hmmm that's a good question not that it really matters haha
I like to read most anything with the exception being sci-fi but even that I've made some exceptions for.
I look forward to getting to know all of you over the next months.
Happy reading to everyone and GO TEAM BURJ KHALIFA!!!

Thanks for the fun and being a great team! I hope to see all of you around on GR in the future.
An extra big thanks to our captains! 🙌🏻

I'm in the same boat as you lol I'm just finishing my weekend, thank goodness for audiobooks. I have got to get my Christmas tree up or it's not going to happen this year lol

Chinese or wings
-What is your favorite pizza topping(s)?Pineapple, bacon and red onion
-Do you prefer macarons or macaroons?neither really I don't like things that filled usually and I definitely do not like coconut I know I'm strange. I also don't eat pies or filled donuts but oreos or twinkies are ok
-Have you ever gone deer hunting or fishing?Fishing
-Do you have a green thumb?I try to have a garden every year but it always seems to get eaten by some creature
-What movie or series upcoming are you most looking forward to?I have such a backlog of things I want to watch. I would have to say probably Great British Baking Show and Bridgerton
-What did you ask Santa for Christmas? (Insert cultural/religious substitution here as needed.)Since I am Santa for myself I asked for a new mattress, a big tv and an inflatable hot tub and I think Santa may have gotten me all 3 but I'll have to wait and see. I didn't take any trips or really do anything special this year so I decided to treat myself to a few things by using my cat sitting money so really my friends cats are Santa this year lol (And yes I do A LOT of cat/house sitting for them)
-How crazy have you or your neighbors gone on holiday decorations?I'm hoping to go pretty crazy this year. I'm putting lights up this weekend. I have quite a few inflatables. I got a Highland coo and a dinosaur this year for new ones. I have Mickey, Minnie, Santa, Frosty, The Grinch, Snoopy and I think one other one that I can't remember. I still want an inflatable nativity but they are crazy expensive, maybe after Christmas.
-If you could transform into an animal, what animal would you be?One of my cats because they are extremely pampered!!!
-If humanity was as advanced as we bloody well should be by now, and had a resort on the moon, would you go there on vacation? No, thank you
-Would you be a space explorer if you could? No, thank you
-How about an undersea explorer?Nope don't know how to swim
-Have you ever tried a recipe you saw on Bake-Off or the like?I've wanted to but it seems like I'm more inspired by the recipes
-Is there a thing that used to be around that you miss? (VCRs, leg-warmers, or whatever.)I would have to say more foods than anything.
-Since A.S. Byatt just died, and I now need to reread Possession, and I read an obituary about her, am I the only one that didn't know that Margaret Drabble was her sister? Sorry, don't know who they are but I am definitely going to look that up
-Have you seen the movie version of Possession? No, sorry
-Mittens or gloves?Depends on what I am doing
-Vegetable soup or Chili?Chili
-And finally, any books that should be added to our TBR lists?I just listened to Dave Grohl's book The Storyteller and loved it. He's such a normal guy in so many ways and also very humble. I also enjoyed Matthew Perry's book. I remember listening and thinking this man has led a really messed up life and probably won't be live to an old age with all of his medical problems-so sad. I listened to both of these and they were in their voices so that made them even better.
