35559 Thoughts and Notes on Part I: Stories of Old

(view spoiler)
35559 I can start anytime in June, since my work schedule is really erratic right now; what works for you?

E, Rosina and I can post our thoughts under spoiler tags, so you can go through them as you read. And I'm definitely up for nerding out even once I'm done reading.
35559 I don't think I can wait till July - a bunch of travelling and religious things will be coming up then 😬
35559 What about starting it on the 9th? That should give us enough days to complete it by 16th
35559 Let's wait so we can read quickly? I really don't want to read slowly - too much action happens for me to want to pace myself out.

35559 My suggestion if you want to get involved in the Maze is to enable notifications on the Maze chat - you'll be able to keep yourself updated that way 😊

35559 I couldn't bring myself to get into A Little Life for a bit, so I spent the morning reading Redshirts because I decided to listen to the part of my brain that's been trying to lust over this. Total Star Trek spoof, and I couldn't stop laughing at some points.

35559 If someone is reading a book with Y and you complete before me, please feel free to take the task over - A Little Life is going a lot slowly than expected...

35559 Just completed And the Mountains Echoed, which is MPG Historical Fiction.

It's a really good look into people - their sadness, their grief, their exasperation, their guilt... it's not really a plot based book, it's more character focused, touching on moments in the lives of characters whose lives all intersect. Highly recommended if you enjoy reflective books.

Once you've completed the books, we (captains & co-captains) check to make sure that it meets requirements, etc. and then add them onto the main spreadsheet. Once that's done, we've taken to hiding the completed books to make the internal spreadsheet less complicated. So the books you've added on the internal sheet are still there, and they've already been added to the main sheet.

35559 Just finished The Starless Sea which fits task 54. I've indicated that I'm reading the other two on the SS.

35559 I have three books/tasks claimed. I will be finishing finishing of them, but if someone finishes books that match those tasks before I'm done, you can take them :)

I have a Y, M, and an MPG Historical Fiction.

35559 I don't have an editions addiction in general, but I could not resist buying the Slytherin edition of Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone. I already have a boxed set of all seven books, but Slytherin!

35559 Why do you have three copies of the same book?
35559 I am so glad that you are!!! This book is on my TBR for a re-read anyways, so I get to Buddy Read it now and that's so exciting!

35559 As far as Erin Morgenstern books go, there seem to be two types of readers - the ones who absolutely LOVE it, and the ones who just don't. Personally I enjoyed both a lot.

The Starless Sea was very confusing at first, but once the plot comes together, it all makes sense.

Keri, I would suggest you start with The Night Circus. It'll familiarize you with Erin Morgenstern's writing.
