The male MC is a thief and the female MC is a princess.
Someone let me know if it works."
But the male MC is not really protecting the princess, right? I'm not familiar with the trope but I thought it was the rogue protecting the princess...
I just got this book -
which may work for this. I was saving it for the rainbow tower as it's a yellow cover. Can somebody familiar with this trope comment?
I can't do 1000 page but I've lined up 500 pagers. I'm really having fun with you all and just want to see how far we go.

Have a great vacation Leslie Ann. Switzerland is a beautiful country and you are going at such a good time. The challenge will wait for you. :)

I agree Nanci! It adds another layer of fun to the book.
😂😂😂😂😂😂OMG. Best discussion ever. Keli, I just LOVE your post. I love your mental images. I agree with Suzanne, it's the best thing I've read today.
@Nanci: "HE. FUCKING. WINKED." 😂😂 Gems of sentences both of you.
Omg, I'm looking forward to the book - if it's going to be a trainwreck, then I wanna see it to the end. It's mostly books like these that are so loved by everyone and I'm left with a wth reaction. Now if I do feel like that, I'm so glad I have you all. (I felt the same way with City of Brass too. But then it probably had a lot of dissenters compared to this)
Thank you everyone for the wishes.
Lol, all your comments about Fourth Wing.. Maybe I'm being perverse but I'm waiting for the eye-roll to begin.@Suzanne, @Keli: Ooh that makes me want to read it even more. I have loved her other works - one of her standalone fantasy is one of my favourites ever. I'm gonna see if I can get it.
@Suzanne: Thanks, that's what I'm going to do. I'm really looking forward to the vacation.
Lol @Keli - yours is the first non-glowing review that I've heard of. I got the audiobook in addition to the e-book as I'll be traveling (yay vacation!) in about a week or so and I'm not sure if I can take the whining on audio. But, I'm fully with you hotness not registering before killing. Thanks for the laugh.. I'm going in with the mindset of malarkey over full-on serious reading.@Keli: I do want to start the Murderbot series soon. I've only heard good things about it.
@Elinor: Honestly, almost 140 books in a month is just amazing - especially since they are sometimes very strict and weird categories too.
My first July book has become my last June book as I couldn't sleep from 2 am. I've started a longer book that I'll finish tomorrow and then start on the Wheel prompts books. They are short(er) books so I hope to finish them soon. I'll be going on vacation after a week (school summer holidays start) so my reading is going to be spotty. I have a rough 10 books planned but with everything going on, I cannot be sure.
Kirsten wrote: "Just to be clear, I am dissing TJ Klune, because his books didn't work for me, not because I think they're objectively bad. And I'm certainly not dissing anyone's taste. My new obsession is Thomas ..."Yeah, that was clear. I admit I wasn't sold on his writing initially but by the end, it worked for me.
In other news, the DQ volunteering for the BOM is very in demand. Lots of people cashing in their participation for an extra entry (even me!). The DQ volunteer for Fourth Wing is not announced yet.
Keli wrote: "I loved both Lightning-Struck Heart and The House in the Cerulean Sea. They are so sweet and, the latter, wholesome. I saw a headline today about some Missouri man sentenced to life for caging and ..."I liked the House in the Cerulean Sea too. I was thinking about picking up Wolfsong soon.
Good for you Shannon. I've read a short book for X from KU. I've started a couple of longer books that I'll finish probably on July 1. I'm also going to start my re-read of Vorkosigan saga and complete the series this time around. I started it 10 years back but didn't complete the series.
I finished Lowcountry Boil and I really enjoyed it. I didn't expect it at all. Another series for me to enjoy. @Lisa: Thank you indeed for setting up the spreadsheet.
@Kerri: Have fun on your vacation.
In general, I found the BOMs this month meh.. but I enjoyed the King more than City of Brass. Anyway, I actually finished my books earlier than I expected (due to unexpected free time) so now I'm wondering what to read. Maybe start a longer book and finish after 1 July..

Janeylou wrote: "As we cant use these for page count as well , presumining its best to use shorter books ?"I would think so.. The main tower with the page count requirements will work for the big spell-it-outs. Since they are free choice, smaller books may work better but I'm not sure if the points from reading higher page numbers will make a difference. Lisa, Suzanne, what do you think?
Janeylou wrote: "Is this because we are one of the teams at top of standings or is it random"No, they've divided into 3 groups based on the performance (or standings). First group cannot bank books and read book specifically for the task. Second group can bank and it's 1 book per task. 3rd group can bank and use 1 book for multiple tasks (I assume the tasks are only in the Wheel mini-challenge and not across like spell-it-out).
Honestly, it might even out the competition and give the teams in group 3 a very fair chance.
I was looking through the tasks and they're a variety. I'd like to applaud the moderators who came up with these tasks (and the chipmunks of course). It's a fun challenge.
Well, we don't have to wait anymore.. The new mini-challenge is up and... it looks fun certainly. More challenging for us and two other teams (Ti and Jeih) as we cannot bank books. But if we finish the Chipmunks, then it'll be good to do the Spell-outs and the new challenge concurrently.
It was down from yesterday night (Europe time) to about 9ish here? so about 10-11 hours? There was talk that a NYT article could have (in)directly caused it.. They haven't publicly acknowledged or given explanation on what caused the outage.. And generally, after an outage, things remain wonky for a day or two till it get stabilized (either because too many people are accessing at the same time after the outage or just working out the kinks?)@Suzanne, I'm glad my book went through. I've started my other Chipmunk books. Btw, is there a new challenge coming in July? Or is the spell-outs it? It'll be very difficult anyway to finish them off.
Hey everyone, since the 500s are being taken care of, I'll work on chipmunk tasks. I found Lowcountry Boil that will work for 138 with crab on cover. I'm halfway through A Study in Scarlet Women for the China task. In the meantime, if anyone has book that has crab/lobster/shrimp etc on cover, please feel free to take it.
