RELAY READING CHALLENGE TIPSExamples:
Some Tips:
1. Please post the book cover, date read, and page number of your book(s).
If you need help, see Add a Bookcover Link.
2. Please double check your post total.
3. For those newly joining the page count, there is no need to post your backdated books. Just keep a tally from the point you join onward.
4. The original intent was for everyone to post page counts for just one to two books at a time to keep an up-to-date running tally, but a larger page dump for more books is okay. Just please DON’T wait until the end of the year.
5. Remember to click “Refresh,” just in case someone posted at the same time as you did.
6. If you're at the bottom of a page, make sure you don’t need to hit “Next.” Each GRs thread page holds 50 posts. If you see the person above you is at a 50 increment number, make sure you don’t need to go to the next page.
7. Please use the page numbers of the edition you read.![]()
8. There are no page length or genre restrictions.
9. For audiobook conversion, use the most popular page length, or do little math - 1h is about 9000 words and 1 page is about 250 words.
10. Again, please double check your post total.

Since you had fun last year, we decided to do it again. Special thanks to Romance Readers Reading Challenges’ for letting us use their Million Page Run as template. There are quite a few groups that do something similar, but we like theirs the best.
This thread will open soon after we reach Our First Million pages for 2024. Until then, this thread will be frozen.
How It Works:
Anyone may join this challenge. To participate, all you need to have are two things--a book you’ve recently finished reading and the page count of that book.
Begin by posting the number of pages of a book you just finished. To continue, anybody who has finished a book since January 1st (regardless of start date), and has not posted it in our first million thread, may post their book title, and taking the previous total, add the total pages of the books.

FIRST MILLION PAGES RELAY READINGWe are doing it again!. Special thanks to Romance Readers Reading Challenges’ for letting us use their Million Page Run as template. There are quite a few groups that do something similar, but we like theirs the best.
We will be starting ours January 1, 2024. Until then, this thread will be frozen.

This used to be a self-directed team challenge, which has now been retired. But since the work that was put into it was too good not to use anymore and there was so much detail to it, the mods have decided to offer this challenge up as an individual annual reading challenge instead.
How does this work?
◈ Using the spreadsheet below, you are provided with a selection of travel itineraries to take one or several around the world trips.
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/...
◈ Trips will start in a random country/city and you will follow the globe in one direction the same as you would for a round the world fare. If you do not know the destinations, feel free to look them up for your own pleasure.
◈ Trips will consist of 8 stops across a maximum of 6 continents. At each stop, you will need to complete a task before moving on to the next stop in your trip.
(view spoiler)
◈ You can choose itineraries at random and do not have to follow them in order. So you could start with Travel Itinerary #5, then do Travel Itinerary #26 before hopping over to Travel Itinerary #1. It is entirely up to you, in which order you do the trips, or how many of them you complete.
◈ To track your progress, you can do so in this thread. Mods suggest reserving two spots when you sign up, just in case, as it all depends on your method of tracking. You can simply do it in your posts, or you could make a copy of the spreadsheet for yourself and fiddle around that way. Entirely up to you. Whatever works best for you.
◈ This is an annual challenge. It runs from 1st January to 31st December.
◈ Have fun!

GOAL:
Going from A - Z, and using authors’ first or last names, read the alphabet. For "X" and "Z" you may use authors with those hard to find letters in their names. Unless, of course, you're a ‘purist.’
Yes, you may use an author twice, once with their first name, and again with their last. In that case, you still need to read two different books.
Duration: One year from 1 January
You may read in any order, start at any time of the year. You may 'back date' to the 1st of January, if you desire.
* Please Note: There is another challenge that is "open-ended" (not yearly) that is posted here.

Have you noticed the longer you are active on Goodreads, the larger your “to-read” (TBR) shelf becomes?
How do you tackle it? In date order? Alphabetical? Or do you just ignore it and hope to get to the books “one day”?
Rules: For this challenge, you’ll use a randomiser* to randomly pick numbers. Use these corresponding numbers on your “to-read” shelf to challenge yourself to read those books.
❶ Step 1
Go to www.random.org/integers/ to get your random numbers. (Instructions under spoiler.)
(view spoiler)
❷ Step 2
Go to your “to-read” shelf and find the books that match your numbers on your shelf. They are your selected books! (Example continues under spoiler.)
(view spoiler)
*If you prefer not to use the randomiser, you may just choose random numbers yourself by rolling a dice, picking a number out of a hat, just choosing a number in your mind - up to you!!
Duration: One year from start date. (Though to keep with the original challenge each book selected should be read within one month. )
Levels:
Headlock: 1-8 books.
Coathanger: 9-17 books.
Spear Tackle: 18-26 books.
No Suspension: 27 + books

Reoccurring every year, but start fresh from January to December.
(If you start after January, you may back-post from the beginning of the year.)
Rules
Read books by authors that are New 2 U (new to you).
• If an author writes under a pseudonym, you may use that, provided it is a different genre (or sub-genre, writes Historical Romance under one name and Paranormal Romance under another) and you have NOT read any of those books.
• Anthologies are always a wonderful way to try someone new, so as long as one of the stories has been written by a New 2 U author, they are permitted.
• Audiobooks are fine.
• Novellas are fine.
• You can set your goal now, or adjust as the year progresses.
• Feel free to make a special comment, if you found a real winner.
(★Stars★ or ♥hearts♥ indications welcome!)
• Please indicate your totals. For example:
05/10
Levels
Come What May = Let's see how many I read.
Fresh Face = 5
Adventurer = 10
Risk Taker = 15
Devil May Care = 20 or more!
