35559 I was quite shocked when I read it. And I agree. It could have done without. In the other books is not as drastic, and it serves a purpose. In this one... it just doesn't.

35559 I think since the tasks are already claimed, to let it be. Just the future ones :)

Because, what happened with Edison's Professor aka, having a task fall in your lap, can happens anytime :o)

Sorry Melindam. I didn't think of trigger warning. Maybe you should stay away from the rest of the series then. They all have some kind of violence or abuse.

35559 Oh, and I added a "Claimed By" column to the chipmunks sheet. That way, we won't be searching for books that meet said task if we don't need to.

Looking at the ones already claimed, I think, in order to make it more dynamic, we should try to avoid claiming more than one task at a time - yes, I know it's ironic that I have two on my name, in my defense, if was an accident.

But it's more fair and fun if we try not to hoard them all and then spend a whole two weeks waiting for a new one.

35559 So, I had the day off yesterday, and managed to read both
Visiting the Variks (Lords of Discord, #6) by Jocelynn Drake and Dead Speak (Cold Case Psychic #1) by Pandora Pine .

I was surprised with how much I enjoyed Dead Speak. It's Cold Case meets The Mentalist meets Ghost Whisperer. Since it's a 20+ books series, I am happy.

35559 I'll find something else. It isn't as I don't have 3 books started anyway

35559 Thanks. I am a bit miffed though. Because I was excitedly reading it. So much that it took me a while to register that I should be saving it for the mini. Like from page 2. I'm currently at page 65. *giggles*

35559 So, I just started a book where they're talking about a missing tomb. I guess that means I need to pause it till the first. Because if finding a missing tomb with the clues written on a gold scarab is not a treasure hunt, I don't know what it is

35559 I have been good. I'm not going to lie, avoiding to look at the formula is HAAAAAARRRRDDDD

But I've been good. We all know what happened to the cat, and I very much like to be alive :P

35559 Me too.

Oh Oh... I also have Legends & Lattes.
Legends & Lattes (Legends & Lattes, #1) by Travis Baldree

I was saving it for a special occasion *giggles* But if we get all excited to get a new task and the one that needs to be done is the Shang-Chi, lemme know.

I could read Jeweled Fire (Elemental Blessings, #3) by Sharon Shinn for the 10 fingers on cover task (though it is just above 400 pages) and The Case of the Lame Canary (Perry Mason #11) by Erle Stanley Gardner for 11th in series..."

I lucked out and found a book for the Korean task that seems right up my alley :o)

[EDIT]: Forgot to add the book. It looks so me, it better deliver.

Wildwood dancing is more YAish than Daughter of the Forest. BUT, I was into a JM phase around my late twenties. Have read them countless times. Curious enough, I prefer Wolfskin and Foxmask. Her books were all translated to Portuguese, and I got most of them at the time I worked at FNAC - employee discount *giggles* - whem the VAT changed for books, I stopped buying them, since it was almost a 6 euros difference for a lot less pages. The ones I don't have, I think I can manage to find in the Library. However... that was before I started reading everything in English... so, I'm not sure I can get back to the translator's voice.

35559 So, Mel's and Sammy's plan of reading Daughter of the Forest reminded me that I still have a few unread books from her sitting on my shelf.

Which in turn made me look at my bookshelf and realize I'm missing some of them. Actually, there are only four of them in there. Were on earth are the other five?!
35559 DQs Day 5 (Chapters 26 -End)

19. Earlier, Eduardo seemed like a fine person to me despite Montgomery's reservations. In these last chapters, he had a stark change in character or his true nature came out. Did you expect him to turn out like this? Do you think he might have been a good husband to Carlota if she were not a hybrid?
I was expecting him to be a bit self centered and selfish. The way he seduced her earlier was creepy. Turns out he was a possessive bastard. So no, he wouldn't be a good husband. I mean, he could be... if she behaved the way she was supposed to. But, I'm pretty sure he would find reasons she would be lacking and his evil side would show.

20. Dr. Moreau was not a great father throughout the book but his last moment touched my heart. Do you find his love for Carlota redeeming enough for his character? Or would you categorize him as a villain?I said it before and I say it again. He didn't love anybody but his life work. I guess saving Carlota was the way to perpetuate his accomplishments.

21. Carlota became more jaguar-like as the story drew near its end, and she finally embraced that part of her in the climactic scene. I somehow expected her physical changes to be more lasting and prominent afterward and maybe have a lifestyle closer to a jaguar which evidently didn't happen. Anyone else had an odd expectation like this or something else that you expected to happen? That scene was a bit confused to me. But, since the claws and the eyes on the previous episodes got back to their "normal" it didn't surprised me.

22. How do you feel about the relatively open-ended epilogue? Do think Carlota would be reunited with the other hybrids? Will Montgomery come back into her life at some point? Do you think Moreno-Garcia kept the option for a sequel open?I think she was aiming for a Happy For Now ending. If Carlota doesn't hope for the happy place to be back, she'll be lost. She has a purpose. I hope the hybrids get back someday. Who knows.
35559 DQs: Day 4 Ch 19-25

15. Welcome to the penultimate set of chapters! A lot of revelations came to light in this set of chapters: did any of them surprise you? If so, which ones?

I totally called it! Well, I initially said the big honcho would order the termination of the hybrids. I forgot he thought of them as things. One does not terminate things whe we still have some use for them.

16. Montgomery and Carlota finally seem like they are going to make love but Montgomery stops this from happening. Do you think he made the right choice? Why or why not? Also do you think they’ll still get together in the end?
Yes, it was the right call. As Cat said, icky. I'm still in doubt they both will survive the ordeal.

17. It looks like Dr. Moreau is going to die by the end of the book. In the original novel and adaptations Dr. Moreau is a villainous figure. Do you think he is portrayed as a villain in this book or do you think he has redeeming qualities?
The only redeeming quality I'm seeing, it's him trying to safeguard Carlota's future. And it's not even redeeming, since he only is doing it because he's dying. Don't forget he was willing to sell her for funding.

18. Carlota is given a key to the laboratory. What do you think she will find there? Also any predictions for the end of the book?
More secrets to uncover. At this point? Bloodshed. Carlota might survive. I'm pretty sure Montgomery will die saving her. No clue about the hybrids, or if we'll ever know their fate.

35559 Good Morning team!

I'm planning to do a global check tomorrow to make sure no book is missing from spreadsheets. So, if you all could make sure all your books are tagged on your towers shelf till, let's say 2 PM UTC, it would be perfect!

Just to make sure this doesn't slip trough cracks, I'm going to PM all of you, so, don't take it as captains being suspicious.. we're just being thorough (I love this word... I blame the narrator of breaking dawn LOL!)
