ah that sucks. yeah i don't necessarily need an MC to be likable but i do really hate the ~not like other girls~ thing. i'll probably give it a chapter or two to see how i feel about it

also just wanted to check in and say i'm going to *hopefully* finish another book today and try to get another done by the end of the week. i was trying to decide between committing to 1 or 2 books a week when i signed up and now i feel like i maybe should have stuck with 1 lol but hopefully i was just off to a slow start last week and can get back into the groove!

The Salt Grows Heavy by Cassandra Khaw
pages: 112
date read: 5/3/23

spell it out options: T, S [title] and C, K [author]
weirdly/unfortunately none of the characters really had names lol

i figure it could also be used for one of the red options, probably the bright red?

big mood. basically how i feel about indiana is like 'well it could be worse, it could be utah' 😂

35559 hey everybody

i'm also in indiana so i guess we're just all located in the midwest or australia for some reason lol i mostly read horror with some fantasy and thriller and maybe a little bit of scifi. i would say most of what i read is between 200-400 pages although i have a few longer ones on the tbr that i've been saving to try out for this challenge so we'll see if i can get into any of them

and for some reason goodreads is giving me an error when i try to add the actual link to my shelf but it's at the very bottom of my shelves and is called 'z-23-tower-teams-x'
Apr 02, 2023 12:46PM

35559 i'm planning on at least trying it so i might start it for tower teams. i've been kind of putting it off till other people seem to get more into it though because i know if i actually like it there's no way it would take me more than a month tops to get through. my brain just won't let me drag out a book over a whole year unless it's like short stories or something like that

unfortunately it's non fiction so the people in it don't count as characters but i'm glad we at least need extra Ts
Nov 25, 2022 07:05AM

35559 i will probably not end up finishing both of mine until monday morning but just wanted to say that i'll definitely get there, since i claimed the color and tag spots
Nov 19, 2022 12:28PM

35559 i can take one of the mythology spots with Small Gods and one of the brown cover spots with We Won't Be Here Tomorrow and Other Stories. those will probably be the only two i read next week since we've got thanksgiving and all
Nov 17, 2022 12:20PM

35559 yeah literally the only good thing about the new book page is that i don't have to scroll past a mile of friends reviews before i get to the community reviews. everything else i feel like just made it harder to use and view tags or switch editions etc. it's like they decided to hide or minimize all the information i actually wanted to see.

35559 hi i'm devann, this is my wheel shelf

don't think i have anything with a pink cover or tagged space opera but i'll make sure to start something for this tomorrow. hoping to get two books in this week because i really need to speed up if i'm gonna make my reading goal this year.

35559 i went ahead and put the final trial on the spreadsheet with some notes so you can decide if you want to use it or not. also marked the kingdoms as finished and with that i think i'm officially done for this tower teams!

it's The Final Trial by Kelley Armstrong. Audio is 9 hours if that helps, but it hasn't been added to AR book find yet, even though the earlier books in the series are on there.

35559 if a book has middle grade AND young adult on the main page tags do we still need to verify the word count? i thought i remembered in one challenge where the YA tag would like override the MG one but idk if that's still the rule or if i just made that up lol

35559 iirc someone was saying earlier that they needed catch up on the last few october daye books and the one that came out last year was #15 if they want to try to catch up before the end of the challenge. unfortunately i'm mostly allergic to very long series so i've got nothing lol

35559 the poem or song lyric in text has to be like ...in the actual paragraph text of the book to count right? like if a book has poetry quotes at the beginning of each chapter that wouldn't work?

35559 thats fine i was just trying to think of something so i wouldnt have to go back combing through hooked for a food or instrument reference lol but i can try to figure out something else it will work for. guess they could probably be used somehow in a story when we get to that point as well.

35559 could we use Hooked by A.C. Wise and To Reign in Hell by Steven Brust as a pair because they both have red covers with white text?
