35559 I was able to find a book for SZ Group 1 that would would fit in for a regeneration ladder using books we've read already. We may not need to regeneration points, but what's the harm, right?

35559 Yay! Good job team :)

35559 I'm fine with working on Group 1, I just had a book that fit Group 2, so I just put it on the list.

35559 Completed! - Challenge Post

I originally was shooting for a coin, but other challenges got in the way.

I'd prefer to stick with 2 books for the countdown if CiCi and Jan don't feel overwhelmed by 3. That way I can start on Good Omens.

I was hoping Head Full of Ghosts might work for ..."

No worries, I appreciate you being able to do the BOM for some regeneration points.

That definition of MPG makes so much sense, it's embarrassing... ha ha ha!

Carrie, that is is bummer... I've done that before, I think it's because I've signed up for too many challenges & struggle keeping them straight sometimes.

I can also do 3 books of the countdown. I can do state in the title or MPG Sci Fi, but only if we all agree that this book (Crossed) fits that category.

I can make any of them work, but want to be respectful of what everyone else can sign up for :)

35559 I added my page numbers in parentheses in the "Reason It Fits" column.

I would like 3 if you want to do 10!

Also, are we doing the ladder for regeneration? I only ask because it is my understanding that we can only gain back the 20 points we lost in the countd..."

I'll do #10!

I believe we were penalized for not finishing Group 1.

As for the regeneration ladder, we can use the books we are reading in the countdown, so I don't see any harm in working on the ladder as well, unless we all disagree.
โ˜ฃBooks used in the ladder do NOT need to be different books to what you are using in your countdown or safezone tasks. โ˜ฃNote that the timing constraints will still apply (you can't use a book in the Safe Zones before the Countdown has finished etc).

35559 I have a book that can fit #10 or #3. I also have one for #7.

I'm willing to read 3 again for the countdown task since we need 2 people to read 3 minimum to equal 10.

If no one has preference for #7 - I can do it! If someone wants #10 or #3, I can read the opposite.

35559 Looks like we need to finish L, V & A on Group 1. We can't do Group 3 until 1 is completed & we are limited on time, I'd say let's just finish this one off.

Anyone want the A?

I can find a quick S or I book if needed to spell out SIX. I'll see first what Carrie and Delaney want to do."

To regenerate, build a ladder to get yourself out of the danger zone!

Build a ladder by connecting page counts (last digit of book 1 is the first of book 2), but watch out! any rung shorter than 250 pages will break, and the ladder must be at least four rungs high...

The first four rungs will allow you to regenerate 50 points; each subsequent rung will provide an additional 10 points.

There is a tab on our spreadsheet that gives a good example.

35559 Round 1:
Do we need another Group 1 task or is the other "A" spoken for?

I'm not sure if we could do Group 3 in time, but if we do, I would suggest spelling out the word six. I have an "X" that would give us more points.

I should be done with my Group 1 soon, but will wait to finish the last chapter until we've finished Group 2.

Round 2:
I was thinking about trying for a regeneration ladder along with the books I'll sign up for.

35559 Looks like Round 2 is posted to our spreadsheet! I'll have my books finished by this weekend.

If anyone doesn't mind, I'd like to do the 1001 book for Round 2.

35559 We are good to start the countdown! I started my book last night & got 25% done.

The Mods did respond & only penalized 20 pts instead of 30 b/c I didn't have a date on the spreadsheet before the countdown ended. Here is their response:
"This time we'll allow the late addition, but in future, if the info isn't in there by the countdown you will be penalised!"

Agreed to knocking out Group 1 before moving on to Group 3.

35559 I'll be finished with my countdown book by end of day, NO EXCEPTIONS :). I apologize for the hold up.
Aug 19, 2019 07:16AM

35559 Woof... sorry team! I meant to finish my countdown book yesterday, but life got in the way. I will finish tonight & start my safe zone book as well.
