35559 Plants? If I get anywhere near a live plant, it will wither and die immediately! I used to work at a preschool and parents would give us plants all the time - - even beautiful orchids. I would just say thank you and take them home & give them to my neighbor wear they would live a long, happy life! Far away from me. Sad, I know. My Mom used to raise the most beautiful plants, in and outside. I do arrange cut flowers beautifully & my lei are outstanding! Guess I’m better with the no-longer-alive plants!

35559 Here are my favorites from 2023!
The Language of Flowers, Crying in H Mart, Deeply Odd& Saint Odd from the Odd Thomas series by Dean Koontz, Dash & Lily's Book of Dares, The Secrets of Jin-shei

I’m sure there are a TON more! As you can tell, I’m all over the place! I will read just about anything & don’t normally stick to my TBR list.

The Language of Flowers by Vanessa Diffenbaugh Crying in H Mart by Michelle Zauner Deeply Odd (Odd Thomas, #6) by Dean Koontz Saint Odd (Odd Thomas, #7) by Dean Koontz Dash & Lily's Book of Dares (Dash & Lily, #1) by Rachel Cohn The Secrets of Jin-shei (Jin-Shei, #1) by Alma Alexander

35559 @Vicki - Sorry! I missed your question earlier. Yes, I was born & raised on the island of Oahu. I live in the small town of Kaneohe. It’s kinda a suburb of Honolulu. We’re about 13 miles away from the state capital of Honolulu. I joke that I will live & die in a 5-mile radius! Only it’s not a joke. I’ve never been out of the country except for Mexico when I was very young. I hope to see Europe before I die! Everyone dreams of visiting Hawaii & we just want to leave!

35559 I’m just going for a numbers approach. I have 80+ books checked out from the library right now. We have no limit to the number of books we can borrow! I have about 4 more on Libby. We have a limit of 10 there…

I think my first books will be Murder and Mamon & The Pursuit for quick easy reads! I have a pink cover with the first & lots of weapons in the 2nd plus they’re both generally hilarious!

Murder and Mamon (Tita Rosie's Kitchen Mystery, #4) by Mia P. Manansala The Pursuit (Fox and O'Hare, #5) by Janet Evanovich

Lauri, which SW film is your favourite? :)"

Because I am *cough* OLD I love the original 3 films best. Nothing like the very 1st one! I was in high school when it came out and somehow our drama teacher arranged a field trip for us all to meet at a theatre with a huge screen & then be released directly from there on our own! This would definitely NOT fly today! But it was so thrilling to watch! Episode IV is on right now & I don’t remember anything so far (about half an hour in.) at least I recognize most characters!

35559 Happy MAY the FOURTH to all! Watching my fill of Star Wars movies in lieu of book-reading today… A good time was had by all!

35559 Aloha! I’m Lauri from Hawaii & I’m ready to play! I am a serial book starter especially on Saturdays! I am a mood reader & always have several books going simultaneously. I don’t really know why that is! My favorite genre is historical fiction followed closely by romance , chick lit & mysteries. I will try anything, just about! I find I’m losing my capacity for epic fantasy, although I quite enjoyed when I was younger. Too involved and confusing!
Hopefully at least some of you will stay up late with me to chat. I often find myself alone even in a big group because of the time difference…

I can’t do a link to save my life, but my shelf is nbrc-book-games

I look forward to playing with all of you!

Dude! I’d be happy to get my TBR under 10,000! Even if I live to be 100, I’ll never finish! And yet, I’m compelled to keep adding more & more! Why??

35559 I was crushed to learn that antidisestablishmentarianism is no longer the longest word in English! I’ve been spouting (and spelling!) that fun fact since I was little. Now it’s some drug that I forget the name of…. I always wanted a shirt with that on it, and now I’m too late! *sigh*

35559 This sounds really - ahem - interesting! I have never actually been camping, but I do enjoy The Hunger Games immensely. Just need to get those stooks out of my mind!
