Yes, the book links I put in the ss are the default ed page number. But the ones on my shelf are the audio edition. I hope that does not cause too much trouble to the captains. Sorry!
35559 10. Don is the one who ask for a divorce. What do you think of the requirements he put on the settlement?

I never liked Don's character so I think his requirements on the divorce settlement was not surprising to me.

11. Do you think Monique’s negotiation with her boss and Evelyn were realistic? Do you think she is growing as a person from the interview process?

I think is somewhat realistic. Monique is learning to be more vocal of what she really wants, part of her being mature and all.

12. What is your first impression of Max? Does that change throughout the session?

I think Max's character for me is just a 'filler' to the other characters to be honest.

13. What do you think of the Evelyn and Mick's plan and her reasons’ for carrying it out?

Knowing Evelyn, I think she could have come out with a better plan, and she could have explained it more to Celia and ask for her consent and all. I got a little disappointed here.

14. What do you think of Celia's reaction? Does it seem realistic to you that she didn’t think they would sleep together?

I was surprised with Celia's reaction but I guess she didn't expect that Evelyn can do that to her. And I think she just did the right thing when she left. Her partner just cheated on her, she does not want to just sit there and wait and get cheated on again or worst.

oopss sorry! It was a reread and I forgot add it!
35559 6. How do you think Evelyn handled her relationship with the abusive Don?

I think she handled it the best way she can for the sake of her career at that time.

7. How believable do you feel the progression of the friendship to romance between Evelyn and Celia is, especially bearing in mind the time period?

I think it was believable being same sex relationship was less accepted during that time.

8. Do you think the author got the old Hollywood vibe right?

I believe so.

9. What do you think of Evelyn’s plan to fake a miscarriage in order to gain sympathy instead of getting bad press? How does it make you feel about her character?

Like my answer from the previous post, I think Evelyn just did what she thought was best for her career at that time. Her career was her priority than her mental/physical health.

35559 I got a couple books each that will fit for Q, U and Z letters for the next round. I should also be done with my last two books for this round by tomorrow.
35559 1. Chapter 1 starts with a news clipping and ends with a blog post and chat. What do you think of this nontraditional style? Were you surprised that it didn't continue through the next 7 chapters?

This was a reread for me and I honestly did not notice it at all.

2. Monique Grant is a little known writer. Evelyn has chosen her to write her biography for a reason. Any thoughts to why? Is is just her style? Age? Or do you think it is more personal?

At first, I think it was just something that Evelyn saw on Monique but there is always something to be a more deeper reason to it. And since I finished the book, it all made sense to me.

3. Evelyn's quote "The world doesn't give you things, you take things" really struck me. How does this phrase resonate with you?

I think this is her being the bigger person and giving some advice. I believe that everything you want or need on this world, you have to work on it to achieve them. You cannot just take what's been given to you.

4. Evelyn learned early on about how to use her looks and sex to get what she wanted. She seems to see it as taking what she wanted and doesn't regret her life decisions. Especially in the back drop of the Me too movement, how do you feel about Evelyn and her decisions so far?

I admire her for being honest on the things that she did in the past. I think she just did what she thought was right at that time.

5. Do you like the back and forth between Monique/now and Evelyn's back story?

I've read many books that was told in the same style as back and forth timelines. And since I listened to the audio, there are some instances that I got confused which timeline was being told but other than that, I loved the book and it's worth the read!

Just like Bernadette had mentioned, if you think there is any character, narrator or author that will fit with the letters A and R, you can use it.

It's really sad with what happened! 😭😭😭

I put HP6 to U.. I didn't realize that there was another U character aside from Umbridge.

I checked Sycamore Row with Tin Eye and says it's mostly brown both background and text. But I let you decide captains if we can use or not.
