35559 Hi everyone checking in

I'm Christene from PH, 28 years old, and a mom of a year old girl. I'm an Occupational Therapist in hospital setting. I usually read almost any genre but my preferred are fantasy, thriller and romance. I loved team challenges but I'm a moody reader so I don’t usually plan my books for the week but I make sure that books fits the tasks as much as possible. So I might put books here and there.

Nice meeting y'all. I am excited and can't wait to get started.

Here's my shelf: z-wheel-a-thon-9

Great - thank you! Glad you enjoyed it.

I think most of us are done with this round and adding books. Shannon volunteered to check in..."

Hi. Yess I will transfer them on round 2
35559 DQs - Day 1 - Prologue-Blackthorn

1. A paranormal retelling?? of Jane Eyre - this prompts the question about the original or let's call it the "source for inspiration". What is your relationship to Jane Eyre by Charlotte Brontë? Have you read it? Loved/liked/disliked it?
Haven't read it but I will one of this days!

2. What about Retellings? Is it a genre you like/avoid?
I loved retellings...mostly of Persephone and Hades... Yikes

3. Jane Aire as a witch in a school for orphan witches? How do you like the setting of this alternative Victorian world where magic is at least tolerated?
A school for orphan witches, it is interesting...

4. What are your first impressions of Jane and Rochester?
To be honest, I really thought they'll be an item. But with the mention of dead wife. Hmmm idk really

5. What do you think about the occurrences in Thornfield? Are they really caused by supernatural elements or is it human action
I do belive that there is supernatural elements in Thornfield but it is triggered/caused by a human. But who knows we'll see

I can start reading Dirty Girl (Dirty Girl Duet, #1) by Meghan March a short book. And max 4 points to the oppossing team

What do you guys think?
35559 Finished! There was so much I had forgotten and a lot that probably went over my head when I read it 6 years ago. As a teen I didn't really understand Peetas character in general and also Katniss confusion and struggle after the game. Now I do. Same with all the themes of social criticism. I just guess, I was a bit too young when I first read it.
35559 I'm nearing the end of this now and I love it so much. One more chapter to go. The changes from the movie are interesting; I don't remember that there's even the idea they could've survived together in the movie, but maybe my memory is wonky. I think I preferred that version though, where it's all Katniss' idea at the end, though she does still get that moment with the berries of course. The muttations, I struggled to imagine them but...listening to Cato be mauled all night into the dawn was horrifying. Just incredibly upsetting, good work Suzanne Collins, you got me pretty good there. Also, omg, KATNISS he's obviously in love with you, shhh.
35559 I've read 8 chapters tonight. I am utterly addicted, I love this. Vague rambling about the difference between book vs. film characters: I sooo much prefer book!Katniss, with her terrible instincts about people's intentions. I think book! Peeta is way more interesting too, he's very disarming in an interesting way. Maybe I just need to rewatch the movie, but I feel like Katniss in particular gets flattened a little into just being Good and Generous and Kind to all the right people--in the book, with her ignoring Rue while Peeta takes note, like that is such a huge difference in characterisation and makes her way, way more interesting to me. I liked film!Katniss, but not this much.
