What a week.
Funny how a pandemic changes us.
I had 3 days in the city this week and I am wrecked. Haven't done that since 2019 🤣
It was great to see people and feel "normal" but ..."
Happy early birthday! I hope you have so much fun celebrating and safe travels!
One thing about my day that you wouldn't already know ... hmm well I don't know if I have shared that I am a high school language teacher, but it is the end of the year. So, I am spending most of my time feeling like Nancy Drew trying to figure how and where students are cheating. I teach seniors and I am finding that if students put as much effort into writing their own essays as they do trying to not get caught when they use each other's papers or AI they would be much happier with their results. I am about over it. I am beyond ready for summer!

Hope everyone is having a great day! ☺️

I finished my first book. I updated the sheet with my comments on how it fits and I added my second novel.
Happy Reading!

Sounds good!

I have a bajillion books to read because I have this uncontrollable urge to buy books all the time. So, my goal this year was to make a dent in my massive physical TBR. 😅😂

Then this one.. I'm soooo looking forward to it..[bookcover:Empire of the Damned..."
I loved "A Short Walk Through a Wide World"! I hope you enjoy it!

I hope you’ve all had a great day! I’m going to wrap up my book I was reading prior to the challenge - I went to an author event and I’ve now binged her two books! 😅 ..."
Eileen Garvin! Her new book is called "Crow Talk" and her debut novel is called "The Music of Bees". I have loved both of them.

I hope you’ve all had a great day! I’m going to wrap up my book I was reading prior to the challenge - I went to an author event and I’ve now binged her two books! 😅 I am hoping to get started on my next book that counts tonight too!

I love Duolingo! That is how I studied Italian, French, and now Danish! I did study abroad programs in Florence and Paris during uni. So, I tried to learn a bit before living over there. My friend stressed to me that I would be just fine speaking English in Denmark, but if I am going to be traveling with and staying with him and his kiddo. I feel like it will be awkward if he is always having to translate between me and kiddo! LOL. I would rather kiddo feel comfortable talking to me in Danish.
My experience has always been that locals see it as a kindness when tourists attempt to learn about the language and culture too.

I’ve attempted Spanish, French and Thai over the years. I find that if I don’t have the opportunity to use it then the words get..."
Danish is definitely interesting! It isn't like any other language I have studied before. I complained about that quite a bit at the beginning hahaha. Latin based languages make sense after my Spanish education. I ask my friend so many questions about the language. They were so surprised at how quickly I was learning things, but a few months in I started asking them to only speak Danish with me. I have been studying for the last nine months and I only speak and write in Danish with my friend now. I definitely associate the language with him, but my school has a Danish foreign exchange student too and they love chatting with me and correcting my pronunciation! Which has also helped tons. I feel like learning to read, listen, and write in a language is so much less anxiety inducing than speaking. I just get so nervous because I don't want to offend anyone or embarrass myself!
