Welcome Sarah!

Looking so good Maria Helena! We're set up nicely!
I agree definitely focus on the hits first, and maybe before someone claims a miss, see if they have a partner who's willing to read the second book so we get all the points? Because that a lot of books for just a few days AND we still have more guesses. And I'm overcommitted with my books as it is! It'll be fine, 5 in 2 weeks is good for me with work and boyfriend and church and everything else, so I'll be super proud when I finish the mystery and To Kill a Mockingbird.

sis called so I'm trying to read 15 pages but that's about it.

works! I'll finish the 25min with you

DeliteAlex you almost ready?

Delite I can read with you at :05 for 30 :)

Ok sounds good! Change my mystery title to A Murder in Time then, and we'll save In the Heat for another task.
Since I've done my first primary book, Half-Resurrection Blues can now count as a bonus for something, correct? It has romance and mystery in it but I don't think it's been shelved by enough people in those categories, so we can wait and use it for another task. It was a good book. Stellar writing by
Daniel José Older.
I'm having way too much FUN in this challenge! You ladies make an awesome team!

so if books are claimed but not read, and we move them before they're finished and claimed for points, that's ok?
for that book they're doing a global ebook book club read thing so anyone can check it out from the elibrary at the same time till July 7th!
second question: can two people read the same book, either for the same task or for during battleship? for example, I want to read Rebel of the Sands which Ozana read , is that allowed during Battleship? Obviously it'll most likely wait until Olympic Games because I may be overcommitted, but it was an example.

Ozana, if you read the Ransom Riggs book we'll have 2 in the same first and last initials task square and can count points for both yours and Letitia's books :) (unless someone else read one for that category already and I wasn't paying attention)

Yeah. I found a different mystery that'll work for the category; it's 498 pages so it'll probably take me all weekend, but I can start now :)

Julie McElwainit could also work for a couple of miss categories if we have some with one book that people have finished but need a second book to get points for the miss.
I want to say I read in the Battleship rules that if you claim a certain category for a book you can't move it around, but I could be wrong. For now, I'll put it on my wobble shelf and when I'm done we'll figure out where it goes.

Uh oh! So the two books I checked out from the library are mystery in Genre but shelved by less than 10 people because they're not as common!

sorry I was reading and forgot to check back! Finished my book :)

Sounds perfect MH! Thanks for being considerate and helping me visualize our strategy better!
May the odds be ever our favor! (I had to, it fit too well not to...)

ok, valid point, sounds good!

STRATEGY SUGGESTION
(view spoiler)[
I may be alone in this and I'm willing to be overruled, but we have this Friday (tomorrow) and next Monday to make guesses, and that's it.
So in my opinion, we should spread out our guesses this round to have more possible hits, and then sink as many ships as we can in our last round of guesses to have.
The more hits we make, the more books we can read and get bonuses for, which multiplies our points. Sinking ships gives us collective points for that ship, so it adds and not multiplies points. I think we should definitely try to sink ships, but do our best to do that in our last round of guesses.
That being said I could have misread the point system so my argument would not matter. With that said, my suggested guesses would be one or two around each hit and maybe a few others scattered strategically.
No worries if I'm overruled! The other strategy will work in our favor too!

Today I'm starting
In the Heat for the mystery bonus.
I also have strategy comments but I'm not sure how to put it under a spoiler link. If someone can give me directions that would be great!

I'm available

Thanks Maria Helena! Ok my plan is to tackle A Court of Thorns and Roses today and tomorrow and finish a mystery this weekend. I'll start and hopefully finish To Kill a Mockingbird this weekend and next week. I think that's all I can handle for Battleship!

Let me know what you think of Fairest, Shy! I read the other 4 this year and they definitely kept my attention.
