Act 1 Scene 7

(view spoiler)[And we get to the worst scene ever. I was absolutely dreading it. I just hate it. So much.

That Albus tells Harry Harry he'd rather not be his son is horrible BUT kinda comprehensible. He's an angry teenager with daddy issues. He's got trouble dealing with the expectation people have of his because of his parentage. But that Harry would say that ! I just cannot believe it. It's the worst thing a father could say to his son. I just hate it.

Harry wants to give Albus his old blanket, the last item he has left of his mother. While it has a huge sentimental value, he should have known a 14 year old would not exactly be thrilled to get that. certainly not when his brother gets the invisible cloak... (hide spoiler)]

Act 1 Scene 4

(view spoiler)[ Quite honestly, my favorite thing about the play is Scorpius. He's such a sweetheart.
But the rumors around him are ridiculous. How anyone could ever believe that is beyong me!

Also, poor Albus. The pressure of being Harry Potter's son must be stiffling. I can't believe how everyone is treating him, just because he's a Slytherin. Especially Polly Chapman. She's horrible. But Rose and James also have some part in it.
The last sentence of scene 4 breaks my heart.


little side note. I find it interesting that Harry calls Draco by his first name. I wonder how that happened. (hide spoiler)]

yes I know... (view spoiler)[ between the time traveling plot (there are always things that don't work with this kind of plot) and the personality changes (particularly Ron and Harry) there's a lot that makes no sense... I'm dreading a particular scene between Harry and Albus... I'm sure you know which I'm talking about. (hide spoiler)]

Starting today. The first time I read it, I really liked it. But I wonder now if it was just out of nostalgia, seeing the characters again for the first time in so long. Since then I've read a few reviews. I lot of them were quite negative... And some of it made sense to me...
So this time I'm going in with a more critical mind BUT I still intend to enjoy this.

(view spoiler)[I can't say I was really surprised by the conclusion, having seen the tv show. But I can say I was shocked at how Lemuel dealt with the problem. I don't think it happened this way exacty in the show. I believe they should have handed the kid to the police.
about that kid. What a psycho. The way she smiles at the thought of the death of Creek's dog and of Audrey gave me chills. No remorse whatsoever.

Overall I really liked it, although I thought it was a bit slow. In comparison the tv show is so much more action packed. I also wished we could see more of Manfred's psychic gifts. We got barely anything at all in this book. (hide spoiler)]

Chapter 21

(view spoiler)[Manfred is invited to a witchy lesson at Fiji's. The evening doesn't end on the best term with Manfred outburst. Do you think he's right warning Fiji against continuing such lessons?

personnaly I'm a bit divided. On the one hand what Manfred says is true. Magic can be very dangerous if not used well.
But on the other side, what Fiji is teaching them is innocent enough and she could teach them the right way. She knows what she's doing after all. These people could easily search on the internet and try to learn on their own without supervision and I don't see that ending well. (hide spoiler)]

If wikipedia is right, the name comes from a Green Lantern comic issue in which the hero found his girlfriend dead in his fridge. (view spoiler)[Darrow must be really indoctrinated not to see how bad the situation is. In a way it is more horrible to see oppressed people not aware that they are and even finding it all normal, than oppressed people who know and just endure.

I agree with you that Eo and Darrow's love story is beautiful in its simplicity. But then...

Eo's sacrifice is stupid... Now I understand what a booktuber (LeeNichole if you care to know) meant when she said that the novel uses the trope of "women in refrigirator". If you are not familiar with that trope, it is when women are injured or murdered as a plot device to make the main male character act. It's very annoying. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[ I was really sad for them that they didn't get the Laurel. I wonder if the system is rigged. probably, I guess. edit: it was just confirmed at the very beginning of chapter 4. Why am I not surprised !

That copper man was so annoying. "oh poor me, I'm stuck in bureaucracy, so bored of the delicious food I eat every day, while you have to labour all day and are content to just have some bread to eat. " bah! I hate these kind of people. (hide spoiler)]

It's always weird to read a book in which the main character has the same first name as me. haha

I really love the first sentence of the book. "It wasn't a very likely place for disappearances, at least at first glace." It makes it seem so mysterious and dangerous. Something more than meets the eye.


(view spoiler)[I heard many people say that they feel bad about Claire quickly forgetting about Frank, but I don't. I don't like Frank. The way he so quickly jumps to the conclusion that Claire had an affair does not sit well with me. Maybe Claire's on to something and he did have an affair himself. (hide spoiler)]
