She might be a little young for Harry Potter, no?
oh damn! I was wondering why everyone was so quiet today... I hope that problem with notifications will be solved soon.So I have an arc of Postscript that has a very shiny cover. Can I use that for shiny? I'm not sure since that cover is not on goodreads. And the finished copy is not shiny at all.

This is what it looks like. You can't really tell on the picture but that's all gold foil.
Judith wrote: "We are killing it this week. Nothing like a bunch of fired up readers to get some serious points on the spreadsheet. hehe"yep, they messed with the wrong people. We readers are very dangerous... :p
I moved The Queen of Nothing to banquet. That frees the spot for crown, which I think is easier to find.
I freed the "banquet" space as well. I will not be able to finish War and Peace this week, it will have to be for next week. lol, I guess I was too optimistic. Two big classics in the same week is a bit much.
I powered through Les Mis and I'm Done ! It was exhausting. But I'm glad I read it.
Also I freed the space for Diamond on the bingo spreadsheet. I don't think I'll be able to read Vanity Fair after all. So instead I'm going to read Three Dark Crowns for Crown.

That video is hilarious !!! XD

Usually Les Mis is separated in two volumes in French. As for Game of Thrones, I believe some numbers were divided into three volumes. ... Yep that makes it very expensive !
Jenny wrote: "Brava. By that I mean well done, in the feminine, (by which I mean female) use of the word "bravo", which, as was stated before means well done, and is often yelled aloud at performances of Les Mis..."Merci! Exclamation that French actors and comedians, or maybe even performers of the musical Les Mis produced at Broadway, after having performed relatively brilliantly on stage, would utter upon receiving said "bravos" by an eager audience, or in this case, as you were gentle enough to make use of the feminine, "bravas", although, it should be pointed out, the correct plural form of the word in its language of origin, which as stated before is Italian, should be "brave", as per the grammar of that language.
Oh wait, I didn't use enough adjectives in there! XD
I've made some progress in Les Mis. You can really tell it was written at the time when authors were paid by the word. There are so many unnecessary things in there: boring descriptions that bring nothing to the book, the use of different, various, miscellaneous words and adjective that basically mean the same thing in the same sentence, repetitive dialogues, - repetitive dialogues, you say? - yes, indeed, we have repetitive dialogues in this book. and convoluted sentences, that is to say that those are needlessly complex, used as a stratagem, or trickery rather, to make a sentence, and by that I mean any little sentence that otherwise would have been too short, a thing that can absolutely not be allowed in the work of a revered writer such as Victor Hugo, longer. And the trick is very effective in French, let me tell you. Oh and I almost forgot excruciatingly detailed descriptions over and over again... I hope you catch my drift. Basically, this book is needlessly long, lengthy and dragged-out. It could easily be three times smaller. But I'm not going to complain, for all the points it will bring us ;)But I like the story and besides the few sighs at all that lengthy stuff I like the writing as well. It has been a long time since I've read in French. I should read French classics more often.
