Oops! Apologies, if it was me! :(
Added the tag in my last post just incase that was a hint to the proceedings, hopefully it did not ruin the story for you!
35559 Hey Vicki, sorry for randomly dropping by. But, my library had this book and it seemed interesting, plus BR points, so thought I will give it a shot.

Glad to have joined Team Hermione Granger (who also happens to have loads of people I have played previous Tower Teams with), and thank you initiating this discussion. Since you have read further on, please tell me that the book keeps getting better. :P :P

I have not seen I Can Only Imagine, but thank you for the recommendation. Maybe you could tell us, as you move along, if the book actually follows the same trajectory. Would be interesting to know! But, (view spoiler)

35559 I am definitely on the lookout for chunksters which are less than 1000 pages, but more than atleast 700 pages. Since, that would take time for me to finish, I am currently trying to finish as many BRs and BOMs I can, in the next couple of weeks.

First Stop: Before July 25, 2000 (50 pages)
Plot wise, music being the backbone of this story has been a major plus so far. It makes the backdrop of Eliza's story (thus far) very interesting, and I certainly hope that we get to learn a bit about the music business and the workings behind the scene, as much we'd get to know the love story.

Story wise, so far I am definitely hooked on to the proceedings and characters seem definitely interesting. The setting of New York City works nicely with the kind of story, so so far so good, Ms. DeBartolo.

Eliza - (view spoiler)

Paul - (view spoiler)

Michael Caelum - (view spoiler)

Eliza's job situation is certainly interesting. But, there have been lots of books written with similar situations, so to positively standout, it has to either make me laugh (which Lucy and her bitchiness can certainly do) or make things intensely dramatic to push the narrative ahead.

OMG! Thank you, Filipa! M/M is totally my jam, and I am always waiting to add new books to that pile.

OMG, Rose! We have been together on so many challenges, all over GoodReads. But, yes, you, me, and Dragana were all on Lightning Hounds; but you know what, we shared another team on another Tower Teams!! :P

The previous one!
TT5 - Team Obi-Wan Kenobi
Vicky was our Cap, and we did pretty decently; close to the top 10 teams of the challenge. :D

35559 Dragana, on a very unrelated-yet-closely-related topic, I just realized, when I was going through my old challenge spreadsheets, we have actually played on a Tower Teams team together!! :D

TT3 back in 2014. Team Lightning Hounds, Juliana was our captain then.

35559 I do not think I am going to participate in the Harry Potter or Kate Daniels Buddy Read's (as of now at least), but will most likely (depending on how soon I can get the books from any of my libraries).

Not to say, all that the recommendations that you guys have been pouring here are not helping my decision making! :P

35559 Christina wrote: "Cap, I'm pretty sure that's for you to come up with ;) like, all the information you need about a completed book, i.e. title, author, date finished, page count, character names, buddy read + link.... anything else?

Based on my previous experience, I would definitely recommend to add in as many character names as possible that fit in with the requirements... think of it as UNO 2.0! :P :P

Oh, thank you for bringing this up.
I voted for Let the Right One In and Leah on the Offbeat

35559 Just looked up the most points-earning spells, which I hope we are aiming for to start up with.

Here is what we need to complete the three spells:

A - 6
C - 2
D - 2
E - 2
I - 3
K - 1
M - 1
P - 1
R - 3
S - 2
T - 1
U - 3
V - 2

Not tooooo bad, I'd say!

OMG! You so should read this series.
I liked the first, disliked the second, and thoroughly loved the third.

So, I have my issues with the series, but boy was it a fun ride! :D

I suggest, Cap Emily update her profile photo with a photo while wearing a cape. :P

35559 To that point, can we start with the challenge already?

35559 Melissa wrote: "Apoorv - we'll have to keep the winning streak going for you! I have read Moloka'i and absolutely loved it but not the other ones yet. I might have to move them up on my TBR. "

Yaaaay! Let's gooo! If that happens, it would literally be the only time I would have two back-to-back team challenges. We've got this! Let's do it! :)

I'm so excited that you've read Moloka'i. It legit took me a day to recover after finishing the book. The story just hovered around and could not possibly shake it off.

Same happened after reading Burial Rites. Now, that is based on a real (-ish) story, and does get a little grim, but what brilliant execution by Hannah Kent, the author.

but yeah, it's awesome how many people we already know from other challenges! like, you and I never talked, and you may not even recognize me/my name, but I've definitely seen you around in the uno threads :) ."

LOL! I clearly am spending a LOT of time on GoodReads. But, it is sooooooo much fun jumping between all the groups and playing all these challenges, what can anyone do? :P
But, I'm glad to be on the same team together. :D
