I am definitely reading Leah on the Offbeat, but I am on hold from the library, so let's see if I get it in time to volunteer to be able to write DQs.

Thank you, Devann! I am certainly interested in getting a more-than general perspective into the subject, and this might just be a great starting point!

Chapters 1 - 5

Now, I am definitely in sort of fish out of water here. I have not read a whole lot of literature about Greek mythology before this, so except knowing the names and their basic powers, I have very less background knowledge of the Gods.

Having said that, the first 5 chapters have intrigued me for sure. While, the word world is pulling me in, it has not hit me yet as to how serious an issue it is, with what is happening to the Gods.

Athena - (view spoiler)[So far, probably, my favourite character. She is like a badass, and I like her conversations with Hermes are very interesting. Well, she is the God of Wisdom, so who am I kidding?! :)) (hide spoiler)]

Cassandra - (view spoiler)[ I have to admit, I am slightly irritated by the Cassandra story-line thus far. Not that its bad or boring; I just thing Athena-Hermes has had a far more intriguing narrative curve. But, I liked how she, Henry, Aidan, and Andy are sort of a team and have interesting dynamics amongst themselves. Would be keen to see how all of that unfolds. (hide spoiler)]

Honestly, I am going to be reading a whole lot of all your comments, who seem to have read a bunch about Greek Mythology and read some reference material, so that I relish what I am reading. Any recommendations? :P

Interesting! I thought, the second book was the weakest of the trilogy. The final book is pure magic! Read it! Read it! Read it! :)

I knooooow! I just hope that we get that information in time, because I worry in the barrage of all the books, we might forget where a certain book would fit after a while.

Plus, it book requirements for the classes seem really fun (and painful!) :P

I stand corrected, but I would think this would depend on what kind of buddy read this is. I believe, a few comments would work perfectly fine for relaxed and informal buddy reads, but a formal buddy read would need answering all the DQs (or atleast some of them).

ETA: Magic Bites is a relaxed BR, so I wouldn't be surprised if you would be fine posting a starting and an ending comment (assuming it is detailed enough where you talk about all that you felt throughout the book), but let's wait on what the Caps and the Mods decide.

How on earth have some teams finished 33 books already? Ugh!
I knew I didn't like fast readers. LOL! JK! :P

Currently reading How to Kill a Rock Star as part of the BR, will follow that up with Wuthering Heights (BR), Antigoddess (BR), and Lilac Girls (BOM).

Hey Vicki, sorry for randomly dropping by. But, my library had this book and it seemed interesting, plus BR points, so thought I will give it a shot.

Glad to have joined Team Hermione Granger (who also happens to have loads of people I have played previous Tower Teams with), and thank you initiating this discussion. Since you have read further on, please tell me that the book keeps getting better. :P :P

I have not seen I Can Only Imagine, but thank you for the recommendation. Maybe you could tell us, as you move along, if the book actually follows the same trajectory. Would be interesting to know! But, (view spoiler)[I have a bad feeling that the split between Paul and Michael may not be amiable, and that will strain Eliza's relationship with her brother. (hide spoiler)]

I am definitely on the lookout for chunksters which are less than 1000 pages, but more than atleast 700 pages. Since, that would take time for me to finish, I am currently trying to finish as many BRs and BOMs I can, in the next couple of weeks.

First Stop: Before July 25, 2000 (50 pages)
Plot wise, music being the backbone of this story has been a major plus so far. It makes the backdrop of Eliza's story (thus far) very interesting, and I certainly hope that we get to learn a bit about the music business and the workings behind the scene, as much we'd get to know the love story.

Story wise, so far I am definitely hooked on to the proceedings and characters seem definitely interesting. The setting of New York City works nicely with the kind of story, so so far so good, Ms. DeBartolo.

Eliza - (view spoiler)[I like that she has her flaws, her insecurities, her challenges; and yet she is trying to work her way out of it. I liked how she reacted during her encounter with Doug, and how she just didn't succumb to her fascination about him. Hopefully, she goes from strength to strength and comes out as a strongly-written character. I have hopes! (hide spoiler)]

Paul - (view spoiler)[Boy, is he a character! I don't necessarily know what to make of him just yet, but I am definitely keen on understanding where he comes for. He showed definite character in refusing the offer to go solo (for now), but I wouldn't be surprised if he eventually accepts it. I would just be looking out for a decent, valid, logical reason when that happens. (hide spoiler)]

Michael Caelum - (view spoiler)[So far, my favourite character. He is such an adorable brother, from the looks of it. I would hate to see him give up on his dreams, but with Vera he seems to make a lovely team. More strength to them. I hope Paul takes him along with him, when he goes solo. (hide spoiler)]

Eliza's job situation is certainly interesting. But, there have been lots of books written with similar situations, so to positively standout, it has to either make me laugh (which Lucy and her bitchiness can certainly do) or make things intensely dramatic to push the narrative ahead.

Vicky was our Cap, and we did pretty decently; close to the top 10 teams of the challenge. :D

Dragana, on a very unrelated-yet-closely-related topic, I just realized, when I was going through my old challenge spreadsheets, we have actually played on a Tower Teams team together!! :D

TT3 back in 2014. Team Lightning Hounds, Juliana was our captain then.

I do not think I am going to participate in the Harry Potter or Kate Daniels Buddy Read's (as of now at least), but will most likely (depending on how soon I can get the books from any of my libraries).

Not to say, all that the recommendations that you guys have been pouring here are not helping my decision making! :P
