DQs Day 4 Equal Rites
https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/...

13. Simon was kept very much a mystery character throughout the book. What is your opinion of him? How will he be able to support Esk in the future (or will he)?
I think he will support her and they’ll become great friends, but he’s still very young so anything can happen regarding his attitude.
14. The meeting between Granny and the Archchancellor and their actions afterwards are a pivotal part of the book. What were your impressions?
I loved how they worked together, because of the way they cooperated they managed to save the day. Their conversation cracked me up, especially on the broomstick.
15. With duality of witchcraft vs. wizardry being one of the main themes, what do you think about the ending? Was it satisfyingly concluded?
I liked the ending, there’s room for a lot of things to happen in the future. I liked that there was a lot of nonstop action, and that witches and wizards will work together.
16. How did you rate the book?
If you are new to Terry Pratchett, do you consider checking out more of his books (NOT just because of BOM points :)?
If you are familiar with his books/a fan - any changes in your earlier impressions/opinion?
I gave it 3 stars. This is my second Discworld book and I think it was better than the first one I read. I don’t think this genre is for me though, or I’m not the right audience. I might try more books at a later date but I’m not rushing to complete the series.
BONUS: Any favourite scenes? :)
I like the scenes at the beginning when we are first introduced to Granny and when Esk was hanging out with her brothers, when Gulta is turned into a pig. And I loved the scenes with Granny and the Archchancellor near the end.

9 . What do you think on the creatures from the dungeon dimensions? Do you find them creepy?
Very confusing and definitely creepy, I felt bad for Esk and Simon, it sounded worse than hell.
10. I enjoyed the Esk’s thoughts about being both witch and wizard and wanting to defend the one to the other. Do you sympathize with this view (more in general than in specific regards to magic fields)?
Yes, she identifies with both branches of magic and the fact that she can see this so clearly is surprising because she’s so young. This duality could turn Esk into a very powerful witch / wizard. I sympathize with this view because a balance clearly works best.
11. Why do you think Esk’s magic did not work?
I was surprised it didn’t work. I don’t know why it didn’t work, maybe she tried too hard.
12. Esk is supposed to be precocious but also nine years old. Do you think she acts in a way you could see a nine year old acting?
She acts older than her age, but her world and the circumstances and things she faces are not the typical things that a 9 year-old child must deal with normally, so it makes sense.
As a member of Team Ook, the bonus question is: Is not the librarian wonderful and would you want to be turned back in his place?
He was so cute! I don’t think I’d want to be turned back, hanging out there with all those crazy books must be wonderful but exhausting.
