Chapters 22-28
25. Ch 22 is where the action starts. Before now, the pace seemed slow but steady. In this section, things heat up considerably. Are you satisfied with the pace before and during this section? Why or why not?
The pace before was too slow to my liking. But I guess it is smart to build up on a story.
26. In chapter 23, Lo tries to solve the mystery, trying to figure out who is the murderer, and, equally important, who had died that night. During this chapter (before Lo figures it out), who did you think was the murderer, and who had died? Share your reasoning.
I have thought all along that Anne was dead. And then his husband must be the killer.
27. While Lo tries to solve the murder, answers all her questions, and talk to the girl, she has fewer panic attacks. However, there’s a nasty negative voice in her head trying to convince her she’ll die and continuing to give her hopeless thoughts. Do you think the change is realistic? Is it a side effect of the withdrawals from her anti-depressants?
The change is realistic. She's in a bad situation. It can't be easy to cope with it. I don't know about the withdrawals, but it could be even the thought that she has not been able to take her medication for days.
28. Lo’s plan to get the girl on her side seems to have backfired, and she’s stuck for over several hours or more without food, entertainment, or even human interaction. How would you pass the time, and how long do you think it would take for you to go crazy?
I would go crazy quite soon if there was nothing to read ;)
29. Judah receives word that traces of Lo’s clothes were found. Do you think he believes she’s really dead? Do you?
I hope she's not dead. And it's only clothes. I think they do not mention a body.
30. At the end of this section, Lo thinks Richard Bullmer is the murderer. If this is true (I honestly don’t know, I haven’t read ahead yet), there are still unanswered questions about Ben. Do you think he is an accomplice? Why or why not?
I don't think Ben is an accomplice. There does not seem to be any connection between them from before.

Chapters 4 & 5
13. What did you think of Roland’s strategy for fighting Cort?
I think it was a good strategy. An element of surprise worked well for him.
14. Do you think Roland regrets what happened to Jake?
Roland loved Jake. He will always carry Jakes memory in his heart. And I guess there might be some regret. But he is on a mission and must keep himself focused.
15. What do you think about the gunslinger’s fortune?
It was very comlex. Hard to know what is going to happen.
16. The man in black told Roland, “What hurt you once will hurt you twice. This is not the beginning but the beginning’s end. You’d do well to remember that…but you never do.” Do you think Roland has looked for the tower before?
I did not get that impression. But maybe he has looked for something else before.
17. The man in black talks about different and multiple universes and a connection with the Tower. What do you think Roland will find when he reaches the Tower?
I hope he finds answers.
18. What did you think about the book? Will you continue on with the series?
The book was complex. At times I had trouble keeping up with it. It got better in the end though. I will absolutely continue reading the series.

9. As Starr and her family huddle around the TV after hearing gun shots the night of Khalil's funeral, they watch news. The news anchor speaks of "multiple reports that a gun was found in the car" and the fact that "there was also suspicion that the victim was a drug dealer as well as a gang member". This comes after the police chief gave a statement stating that they saw no reason to arrest the officer who shot Khalil.
What do you think they are trying to do with that information? Do you think it's valid? What about the protestors? Do they have right to be upset about the situation? Does their means of protest get their point across?
The media attention is enormous. I think the police is trying to explain why one fifteen had a reason to shoot at Khalil. And the protestors have a right to be upset about it. But violence is never a good answer to any problem.
10. Starr has been giving her boyfriend Chris the silent treatment for a while now and when he confronts her about it, she tells him that he wouldn't understand. Her rationale for that is because he's white. What was your reaction to that statement? Do you agree or disagree with that? Can Chris understand where Starr is coming from?
I agree. Chris would probably not understand where Starr is coming from. But there would be nothing wrong in trying to explain it to him so he could at least try and understand.
11. The protest at Starr's school "For Khalil" really upset Starr. She mentioned that her "Williamson rules go out the door and the Starr from Garden Heights shows up". Do you think we are going to start seeing more of "Starr from Garden Heights" while she's at school? Do you think the two personas were necessary?
Starr is still very young. Teenagers tend to go with the flow. That's why I understand her two personas. But she is in the crossroads right now and I think it's going to make her more proud of her Garden Heights heritage.
12. At the end of chapter 11, Maverick, Starr's father, tells Starr, "if you're ready to talk baby, talk. I got your back." Do you think that Starr is going to talk? Do you think that she should talk? What do you think you would do in that situation?
I hope she will talk. I would if I were her.
