I'm excited to get started. It looks like we have a great and enthusiastic team."
Will do Sheila :)
Lauren, I read somewhere there was a converter for audiobooks. I will look it up now.
Edit: my mistake. I read that default edition will be used for audiobooks. From Q&A thread:
◈ Q: For page counts, do we use the most popular edition on GR or the edition that we actually read?
A: Edition you've read.
Default edition will be used for audiobooks.

Based on the days of questions for The Miniaturist I think it will go through until 8th. And Lies has more pages.

23. Not really, he already made it clear that he didn't like Johannes and both Frans & Agnes are really irritated about the sugar not being sold by now. It's their livelihood after all. But for a second I thought Jack would sabotage the sugar loaves out of spite, I didn't expect they would cooperate.
24. I think it's Frans' baby because I don't see who else could be the father. If I remember correctly the only men we have met are Frans, Johannes, Otto and Jack. It can be someone 'off-page' but I don't think so.
25. They could but honestly at this point Johannes doesn't deserve it. Also I keep reminding myself of the prologue. Weren't they burying someone? But I think the baby is in good hands with Nella & Cornelia.
26. I'm sure we will get to meet the miniaturist. Or at least she will make another appearance. I hope Nella gets an answer from Bruges that will clarify things.
27. No, she didn't imagine it because Cornelia sees it too. I think Johannes chooses not the see it or maybe it is too small to notice on a first glimpse.
28. In my opinion, Nella is the character who had the most character growth in the book up till now. She accepts her situation, and seems to want to try to save the day. I hope she doesn't turn out the be 'another prisoner' in that house just like Marin. It's time the sugar is finally sold.

My low opinion of Johannes has sunk even lower. His behavior t..."
I completely agree with you Deedee & Missy. I admit, I still had hope for Johannes until I read those chapters last night. Johannes is just plain stupid. His downfall will be by his own doing, he's lucky the three women don't abandon him just yet. I know the author depicted Marin as unlikeable, but I respect Marin for putting up with her brother for so long. And I don't like Frans. I also hope that somehow Marin and Nella are going to have their happy ending.

18.I think she's referring to both her and Johannes. They are both stuck in the same situation and live with each other for who knows how long. It seems that everything that Johannes does affects Marin's life and vice versa.
19. Yes, I wonder why is it still not sold? It's good for Johannes' business too. He is hiding something, I can't wait for him to spill it all out.
Yes, it doesn't make any sense. First he refused her to marry Frans, and then later he criticises her that "she didn't even manage just to be married."
20. I think in this case it's supernatural. It would be interesting if it turns out that Nella is hallucinating or something , but I prefer not in this book.
21. I was wondering what he would do, he was definitely up to mischief. The whole episode was a bit confusing. What was with the kissing part between Jack & Marin? Focus guys, this is serious. If I understood it correctly, Jack put on a show and was never in danger of dying? Because he seems severly wounded now.
I don't think he will be back. I second Renee.
22. I think Johannes (as most of the characters in this book) has little in life that he truly desires, so he clings to the little bits he does have. Pets can mean a lot of things for various reasons. In this case Johannes can only openly show his affection for the dog and won't be judged for it.
I hope he and Nella grow to be (if not lovers) friends at least.

I can't wait for the movie! I want to do a winter sleep until its release.
I'm going to bed. Night night!

Thanks Tea, I was a bit confused. I never read the other books you mentioned. I guess I will have to add them now before the movies come out :)

Phew ok, I recently sold my copy of LotR so now I can read it in English on the ereader. I will join you depending on the date. I heard a lot about WoT, I might join in but I need to check the date in the BR threads.
I will probably join you for BR Mortal Danger but I need to read the first one first.

Do you plan to join the BR for HP?

I'm currently watching Harry Potter and the Deadly Hollows on tv. They are a lot of things I forgot, I keep asking my sister dozens of questions lol.(view spoiler) Anyway they sure gave a lot of HP this year :)
I read somewhere that JK. Rowling signed a contract for spin-off movies?

My mother needed new glasses and wanted my opinion on a new rim. After one hour trying several, she ended up choosing one almost exactly as the one she had before *sigh*.
I also created a private group and like it a lot, but honestly it was a mess lately. It's fine now, I 'cleaned' it a little bit and updated everything.
So far I signed up for writing a set of questions for The Lies of Locke Lamora. I read it last year, so it's more than 6 months ago. Maybe I can do a re-read and that will count for points too.
The buddy reads I'm doing are Unwind (14 December) and Cress (23 December). Possibly The Brothers Karamazov since I had it on my shelves for ages but didn't have the courage the pick it up. I'm considering to do others but I don't want to overcommit, I will tackle one at a time.

I read it December last year so maybe I can do a re-read. I'm willing to do a set of questions, but could you give me one of the last days so I don't risk to spoiler unintentionally.

13. Just like Missy said, she's unhappy in her marriage. She copes with it by pretending she has all she wants (materialistic), and turns everything in live into a competition.
14. No, not at all. I had a strong suspicion already before when he wasn't in the least interested in his wife. And the marriage seemed haste haste.
15. I wouldn't like to be a woman back then. There were a lot of areas exclusively accessible to men. I agree with Deedee and Missy.
16. I'm a bit surprised by who that secret lover is, because he didn't make a strong impression on me. Most of the time he's just grumpy, and it seems that Agnes leads him & the business. Yes, it's sad. It makes me want to jump into the story and play the matchmaker :) On a sidenote: I think Marin loves and wants to protect her brother so much, she can't leave him.
17. No, I can understand it but it isn't fair for Nella. I like Deedee's idea. She can have an affair and he can't hold it against her.
18. They all play important roles in Nella's life. I need to read further!
