35559 Based on our customer break down from Round 1, how many deserts & drinks did we want to provide out of the 200 menu items that I'm assuming is our goal this round? Trying to plan for any 500+ books.

And if I read through some novellas and just go through some mindless series, I might be able to push my book limit to like 20? I do have a read-cation planned for the second week of November where I plan to do nothing but read, so that'll help greatly! And, I just finished up a big project at work, so I can read at work once more, which will help too!

35559 Thanks, @Melanie, for the clarification of drinks & dessert only being applicable to use for books with 500+ - that'll definitely help ease some of the tracking!

And thanks @Melanie, @Saar, & @Lau Maia for creating the meals! I'm off today with no plans until later in the day, so if there's anything I can do to help, please let me know! Or, if you think having another individual would be too many cooks in the kitchen, that's fine too!

This is such an interesting challenge! I'm so curious as to how this first round will go!

35559 How many customers do we get? I couldn't see where it was written.

35559 @Saar, two things:

1. Can you post what time tomorrow (with time zone) you want everything updated by?

2. I think when it means 2 items max you can only use two items from that book. So like if they listed five items, you'd want to select the two that are most useful. Is that helpful?
Oct 12, 2020 11:57AM

35559 Y'all! I had TWO mentions of "vinegar" in the book I'm currently reading! I should be able to finish it and update the spreadsheet with the info tomorrow so we can use it!

35559 I hope you enjoyed your vacation, @Annalisa!

35559 So November's BOM books have been announced: Fahrenheit 451 & Cemetery Boys.

I really don't do re-reads, so while I enjoyed F451, I probably won't be participating in the Adult BOM, but will try to read Cemetery Boys if I can get my hands on the audiobook!

35559 October 16th sounds good, @Saar; will do!

35559 Here is fine, I’d think, Saar, so it’s all in one place?

My American mind forgot that the "chips" in "fish and chips" isn't actually potato chips, but french fries, lol! The book I'm currently reading just mentioned "fries," so I'll finish that up hopefully tongith and we'll have that!

35559 And I forgot about YA's BOM from Sept, A Chain of Gold! Working on Clockwork Princess first and then that'll be next!
Oct 06, 2020 04:10PM

35559 Oh, I have "potato chips" in one of my books, if that helps - I can input it later tomorrow!

I just double-checked & I had already recorded it, but I haven't finished the book yet, so IDK if you can use it just yet. But it was from Book 46! I should have that finished before the date you need it, though so we can use it. Good, I needed the push to finish that book because it's frustrating right now.

35559 So I just realized that with YA BOM starting on the 16th, there's no way I'd finish it by the end of Week 1 (which I'm thinking is the 17th). Unfortunately, I won't be contributing a BOM in Week 1 then, sorry!
Oct 05, 2020 10:40AM

35559 Two more questions, but these ones about deadlines:
1. I'm not seeing a countdown, but four weeks from Sep 19 is Oct 17, so I'm assuming that's the end of Week 1, right?
Which leads me to my next question,
2. The YA BOM starts on the 16th, which means there would only be two question days posted by the end of Week 1, but in order to count as participation, at least three question days have to be answered, correct, so there's no way to include YA BOM in Week 1, right?

Just trying to plan my reads for the next couple of weeks. TIA!
Oct 05, 2020 10:34AM

35559 @Saar & @Melanie, when's the last day you'd like us to input books? I'm not finding a countdown, but four weeks from the 19th is the 17th, so I'm assuming everything has to be finalized by then?
Oct 05, 2020 10:32AM

35559 @Melanie, oh no! I'm sorry you didn't get to enjoy your weekend, but I'm glad you were able to get everything settled with your toilet. And I hope your toe heels okay!

Thanks for your responses! And yes, both books in question fit the 50+ page requirement (according to GR), but didn't have the pages numbered because the art style bled to the edge of the page.
Oct 01, 2020 05:03PM

35559 So just got answers: no to food items pictured in book, but cover picture items are a go. And for referencing if there’s no page number, the first few text on page will have to do (or loc if read on Kindle).
Sep 30, 2020 11:33AM

35559 Also long as they are more than 50 pages, yes! But I just wasn't sure how food in graphic novels were being counted. I asked in the general questions & will let y'all know what the answer is!
Sep 30, 2020 07:37AM

35559 I asked to double-check, but yes, this is the first challenge where I've been able to use graphic novels, as well!
