Book: The Rose Society by Marie Lu

Task: Read a book with 'lead' (gray/silver) coloured cover
I've looked at..."
It definitely works for gray/silver :)

nah! All questions are good questions ;) sweet dreams!

After they are banked , If they don't ever fit a challenge we can exchange them for gold pieces. We can then use gold to buy potions (which can replenish health or poison enemies)

I was thinking about it and think the card tasks should take priority (over series books). We get more experience points that way, which in turn allows us to level up faster.
For each series we finish we only increase our weapon by 1 point . So in other words, soo we will have to read 5 or more books in a series to only get 1 point on our attack.

I also think that at the time we can even think about beating the dragon, the event is over, so we should ..."
Captains have agreed that

Ok team, so I was busy on our spreadsheets....
I battled our original card #4~ Plush Zombie - he was killed and we gained 2 experience points.
Next I battled card #1~Brown Bat ~ he also was killed and we earned 1 experience point.
We need 10 experience points to get our hero to Level 2. Leveling up would increase our health to 25 HP.
Any questions ?
Tomorrow we will get 2 new cards, as I dumped our dragon monsters, they were too strong and we cannot fight them for while.

Well, I think it helped a bit. If I understood correctly, we get either task cards (like card #2) or battle cards (all other current cards). I think I leave the s..."
No problem, I've got 3 consultants who play Pokemon here with me at home for strategy.
If you want to understand a little more, I battled 2 of our cards. You can look at our spreadsheet under the RPG Log tab. It shows my action (although line 20 & 21 are mistakes)

I also think that at the time we can even think about beating the dragon, the event is over, so we should ..."
I agree, the Gold is a tough one. I'll ask in the Captains Lounge if anyone has a good example of Gold. I would say any of above have Gold/Yellow in them, just not sure if it is majority.
I'm going to battle one of those cards now. I agree, we can beat them. I also need to do it so I can explain better ;)
thanks Fandury... I'll get back to you about the Gold color.

Mod Hero: 12 Attack 20 HP
Plush Zombie: 5 Attack 15 HP
Mod Hero Starts
Mod Hero hits Plush Zombie for 12 Attack.
Plush Zombie has 15 HP- 12 HP = 3 HP
Plush Zombie hits Mod Hero for 5 Attack.
Mod Hero has 20 HP - 5 HP = 15 HP
Mod Hero hits Plush Zombie for 12 Attack.
Plush Zombie has 5 HP- 12 HP = 0 HP
Plush Zombie killed.
Mod Hero gains 2 Experience.
We can already beat this guy....
I am thinking we need to discard those bigger monster cards and get new ones tomorrow.

There aren't any tasks for those cards. We complete those cards by "fighting" the monster. We fight the monster with our hero. So for example if we fought card #4 it might look something like this:
Our hero attacks (using 12 attack).
Monster starts at 15 health, after attack has 3 health.
He would then attack us 5 (his attack). We would then be at 15.
We attack again with 12, they should then die.
This is all speculative, but it is what I am understanding. I'm still reading into this. And the more I see the more I understand. SO I am waiting to try this out. Plus the mods are battling screwy spreadsheets.
All this battling, occurs within the spreadsheet. I enter the hero action and it goes back and forth. A bit like battleship. The team didn't get to do anything except pick guesses and read.
I would like to try to battle one of these guys tonight. I'm not sure if we would get a replacement card tonight or tomorrow. I'm guessing tonight.
Did that help??? please keep asking questions! It helps me to better understand too ;)

I've started Filling in our spreadsheet. So far I have:
- submitted some banked books for Gold pieces.
- Leveled up our weapon (SERIES books) to attack level 12 (started at 10)
Reading tasks needed:
-Series books ~starting with #3. See spreadsheet tab RPG to claim a level or check progress.
-A book with a Gold cover. We can complete that card and earn 5 experience and 2 Gold.
I've put some books that are currently being read in spots, but they can be rearranged as books are completed.
Anyone think we should discard those harder Monster cards? I don't think we can fight them for a while.... If I discard today, we will get new cards tomorrow at 11am (London time)

LOL, I'm still learning... consulting with my 14 year old ;)

Card 2
Read a book with "lead" (grey/silver) colored cover.
Read a book with "lead" (grey/silver) colored cover.
Read a book with "lead" (grey/silver) colored cover.
Read a book with a gold colored cover.
The Gold disappeared when the spreadsheets were messing up...

But both the brown bat and the plush zombie are beatable. And the gold and experience card is nic..."
So, my understanding is that we read to increase our weapon strength by reading the series books.
Weapon
◈ Your hero has a weapon.
◈ The weapon starts with 10 Attack.
◈ The weapon levels up 1 attack each level.
◈ Levels are gained by reading progressively longer "series" of books.
Example:
Level 1: #1 in Series book (11 Attack)
Level 2: #1 and #2 in Series book (12 Attack)
Level 3: #1 and #2 and #3 in Series book (13 Attack)

You are not dense ;) My understanding is that we use our hero to fight those cards (those 4 are Monsters). However, we need for our hero to have experience, health and stronger weapons in order to beat them. Card 2 & 4 should probably be the first ones to attack. I need to trade in some banked books and earn gold to buy potions and such.
The task card can be completed to give us health and experience (important for battles)
I am thinking my boys and husband need to help me in this game ;)
By reading series books , we strengthen our weapons which helps to makes us stronger to fight the monster cards. In turn we will soon (next week) be fighting the other teams. We will be matched at similar levels for a fair fight.
As the captain I will end up fighting the monsters on our spreadsheet once , we as a team , feel that we are strong enough to beat them.
Currently the spreadsheets are messing up, and mods are working hard to fix them. So I have not entered anything yet ;)
Anyone else have anything to add?
That is a quick and dirty summary.... at least to my understanding.

Definitely the Gray Effect and Stirring the dark.

I put it under the grey/silver for now. That's a goodie!!!
