35559 I picked some mini tasks for planned Round 2 books that I haven't started yet but now I might need to move them to Mini-3 holiday tasks, lol.
Decision fatigue is real.
At least we know our next word though! :)

Ooooh! IDK what others would like to do but my vote is for Christmas. I'm not actually Christian but I do love me some Xmas holiday cheer. :D

Oh great, I was wondering about that!

And I, like Julia, am also loving the LotR-themed salutations :D

I will finish my 2 remaining books for Round 1.
One of them is almost done and I should finish tonight (or possibly on my commute tomorrow morning), and the other I should be finishing on Friday night.

The latter, Stolen Songbird, I've had sitting on one of my devices since 2014 so I'm really happy I've finally gotten 'round to reading it.

I plan to read it for Round 2, assuming it fits whatever word spell-out we get. I’m not starting it yet, I’m any case.

Did you like it?

35559 I am back home from Florida -- I survived!
My cousin's wedding was really nice, and I hung out with a lot of other people at the reception, so as to mostly avoid my mom, lol.
The return flight was delayed by 2 hours. Any longer and I would have been late to my partner's 50th birthday dinner, which I helped organize, but it all worked out!

I've got a lot of work to catch up on, but I will definitely be finishing a book later today :)

35559 Yikes Karen! At least nowadays doctors usually know how to treat "historical diseases" right??

I'm currently in Florida to attend a cousin's wedding. I flew down with my mom, and we managed not to kill each other in the plane or during our first night sharing a room. I won't be online much until Monday, but at least there is hope that I won't be dead or in jail for matricide.

35559 @caps
I was in the tracking spreadsheet marking a book as finished and I noticed that there’s a “formula parse error” message. IDK if it was something I did (a stray tap on the ol’ iPad) or if it was already like that but I thought I should mention it, esp in case it was indeed me.

I found "defenestration" in one kindle book but I don't think that would count unless captains group agrees, so I'm glad someone found "defenestrate".
That's the one word I couldn't find in any of my kindle books on any of my devices!

@ Melinda thanks re Coffee Table.

Notifications are broken again! Argh!

I saw that in your recently finished book you have both "coffee table" and "lobster" in text. As those tasks may be trickier than genre, I will probably move your book to one of those spots. :)"

I was about to add my next book Summer Knight for Coffee Table when I saw that task was filled -- if you want to move it to Lobster, I will do Coffee Table.

35559 Nice! Then I will probably read Six of Crows and/or Snow Like Ashes in the next round, or the next, depending on what fits Spell-Outs.

Once I finish at least one of my current books, I'm thinking maybe my next Round 1 book will be Summer Knight from the Harry Dresden series. CLN Dresden and the author has a J / B name.

On Thursday I've got a flight to Florida to attend a wedding. That'll be some good captive-reading time -- especially if I have flight delays LOL

35559 Oh and different topic, but if we get a word with "X" in a future round, my current book is #3 in a trilogy where one of the main characters is named Xiala.

There are also some boat trips in this series, for the tasks related to that.

And overall this trilogy has been really great and I would recommend it to the Fantasy readers out there.
(Though since I'm not done with #3, I've got my fingers crossed that the author sticks the landing!)

35559 I am entertained that everybody is talking about reading Six of Crows for a Square, since that's one of the "S" corners ideas that I mentioned back in message 77 :D

I can read it if needed!
There's also Snow Like Ashes if we need variety...

Don't we have to read the sides of the squares in a certain order though? So we'd need to be careful about not overlapping our Read dates?

35559 Only a few minutes until start but I am still out with my daughter! But at least we're about to get on the subway and we'll be home in like 25 min.
I'm going to start with Mirrored Heavens

35559 Less than 6 hours to go…. EEEEEEE!!!!!!!
I have to take my daughter shopping but I may also try to spend some time playing “Search Kindle for the Word” to see if I have stuff that fits any of those types of tasks. Maybe I will get lucky with the hard ones. It could help that I currently have 5 Kindles and an iPad, all with different books on them LOL. The Kindles are all different kinds/generations and some clearly need to be retired due to battery life issues and such, but I just can’t bear the thought!

@Rebecca : room temperature Reese’s, and I like when the chocolate is right on the line towards melting in my fingers. But I can see why some people like them frozen 😄

ETA: notifications are finally working for me too!

You might be the only one but hopefully we'll all start getting notifications!

Happy birthday to your son! 8 is a fun age :)

Same, Sammy, same. Plus now a hip and knee issue.

but there is a baggage service you can pay for on the Camino, that delivers your backpack to the next destination. It would make it a lot more expensive, but I'm gonna do this one way or another darnit!"

OMG that is cool. I shall continue to dream for now but keep this service in mind for someday!

35559 While waiting to start Wheel, I've been reading some short stories and novellas and graphic novels, and catching up on TV shows and YouTube videos and such.
I also just participated in the most recent NBRC BOM. Too bad it wasn't part of Wheel, but it was fun and I get points to use later.

I'm also making another dent in How to Teach Your Children Shakespeare, which has literally been in my "Currently Reading" since 2018. I read half of it to/with my daughter over about 3 years, and then stagnated but didn't want to call defeat and didn't want to continue without her when she got older and lost interest in my reading to her aloud.
Now I'm just forging ahead alone. But my daughter was in a Shakespeare play recently, so... mission complete, I guess!

35559 That's amazing. I've always fantasized about doing the trek to Santiago de Compostella, and also the Appalachian Trail, but sadly neither is likely. I have too many health and joint problems due to becoming an Old!

Yes this! I've already gone on and on about it but I like how you put it. Especially re that the concept was not suggested elsewhere. Deus ex machina.
