Sorry, missed that earlier. That is fine. You just need to start back at the start again, which with 16 pages is easy. The question sometime come up if someone is half-way and if people really restart but again 16 pages is nothing.

I volunteered for DQ for Midnight Library, but if anyone wants to volunteer as backup, I would be grateful. Thank you

35559 Judith has a spot, but I'll be back up if something comes up

You started that one before TT so we can't use it but we can use the next one.
35559 DQ Day 1 - Chapters 1-5

1. How are you liking the writing style ? Are you enjoying the story so far?
I am not a huge fan of historical fiction so this one is about average so far.

2. After reading that opening scene, what do you think of the practice of the Hospital taking babies based on a lottery (the coloured balls in the bag) ?
I think they though it was the most fair way but making a production of it turned it into a way to make money for the school and seems to be taking more advantage of the mothers.

3. At some point Bess says that "knowing she [Clara] could be anywhere instead of nowhere at all was torture even more exquisite." Implying that not knowing where her child is is worse than knowing she's dead. What's your opinion ? Or would you rather not know ?
I think alive is better than dead. I get that the alive options were not great but again, not dead.

4. What do you make of the child's father, Daniel Callard ? Everyone keeps asking Bess if he's really dead. Do you suspect there's more to Daniel than we've been told so far ?
I suspected for how easily he was interested in Clara that there are other women (I’ve also read a bit further).

5. Time for your theories ! Who do you think claimed Clara on the 28th of November 1747, the day after Bess gave up her baby ?
I guessed that the book was headed there but I won’t put it here for spoilers.

Yes, that is lovely blue tartan

35559 I think that works just fine. There are lots of pages to the SS so don't feel like an idiot.

Also, you can answer the BOM questions any day for an entire month. I have not even started the book yet, as I spent all of today applying to a job and cleaning.

35559 If you go down to the list of spaces, it does describe them so G5 is "elf archer." I might look for elf or archer for that one. (Also, that is Legolas from LOTR in case you care).

Otherwise, there are some that are very specific to Discworld like XXXX is Australia, so any book in Australia will work. Others might work for plot so for the sock, an example was given of Harry Potter with Doby and the sock. Socks play a role in the plot. The money and hourglass would likely work for any book where running out of time or money are important.

Anyone feel free to ask on any picture where the meaning is unclear and I can help on the Discworld element.

Edited: Also, you might be helped by looking at the already claimed ones

35559 Polls are up for the June BOM:

Adult June BOM Poll
YA June BOM Poll

If you are feeling conflicted between the many good choices, Judith and I recommended The Marsh King's Daughter and The Echo Wife for adult and Firekeeper's Daughter and One of the Good Onesfor YA so our team would get an automatic DQ spot.

35559 Coutdown to START (it does seem to overlap with UNO for anyone playing UNO but make sure not to use any books started before then)

Also, does anyone have any questions or concerns about using the tracking spread sheet?

What should we do with the recs from other teams?"

It is just five of the tasks. Feel free to ignore them or read them as you like. I think we won't have an issue as a team reading five books off these lists. It is also a good get to know each other activity for the teams while we wait to start (soon and very soon).

35559 I did not get to read at all today. I spent too much time on PhD stuff. Maybe tomorrow.
