Hey guys, feel free to start discussions. With the exception of Dylan, all discussions have been started by VJ or myself.
So, have any of you read the Perseus Jackson books by Rick Rirodan? They are pretty good. Some of my favorite in childrens lit.Well I just finished the fourth book and there were some pretty amazing acts of necromancy preformed by one of the characters.
I am obsessed with necromancy! The summoning of spirits and the raising of the dead fascinates me, wether in folklore or mythology or in role playing games.
I first discovered what necromancy was when I read a book called "The Thrall and the Dragons Heart" by Elizabeth Boyer. It is one of my top five favorite books, but sadly its out of print.
Anyway, one of the villains was a necromancer who raised armies of Draugar. (a draug is a type of undead being in Norse mythology. the borrow wrights from LOTR are based off them.)
Does anyone else share my obsession, or am I just a freak?
I plan to. I never throw anything away. (I mean ideas and stuff I've written, not all the junk in the world)
One of my favorites. Never let a cat sleep with a baby. It will suck out the baby's breath/soul.Its probably not a good idea to let cats sleep with babies anyway.
Alan said "The E is nowhere near the I on a keyboard...Calling Dr Freud!"
The I is pressed with the same finger as the E on the oposite hand. I make those kind of mistakes all the time. Its like typing dyslexia.
I found "Come Lady Death" in a book of Beagle's collected works, but I dont recall the title. The story is well worth the read if you can get ahold of it.
Hey Kathryn,Peter S. Beagle has some amazing stand alone books.
Start with "The Last Unicorn" which is on my top five favorite books list.
Then there is "Tamsin" and "A Fine and Private Place," both ghost stories but not connected in any way.
He is also the author of my all time favorite short story, "Come Lady Death."
Thanx. After I found it, I kind of lived there for a few days. The tales there gave birth to several stories, although I havent written them out yet.
Unfortunatly I have not, although its been recomended to me several times. Yay!! More books to look into!
It's Marr, haven't read Briggs yet. Her books looks a little too steamy from the female perspective for me.And yeah, IE is about the dark court. Not a bad plot, just not so great altogether.
