33903 I just got a message from my friend Breann team captain from team 8. Her and I have been obsessing over the Fever series together for years, anyways she said two people have shelved ICED under Favorite Series so she said it should count :) It's supposed to be a continuation of the Fever series, starting where Shadow Fever left off, only from a different character's pov
Oct 27, 2012 07:45PM

33903 Ok wait, team captain I need you because I am confused. All the other Fever books by Karen Marie Moning are on the favorite series shelf, but ICED is not, it is just because it is not out yet, do you think it will count? If not I will probably read Insurgent (Divergent, #2) by Veronica Roth But I really want to read ICED and fit it in somewhere so let me know what you think

33903 For favorite series I am going to read Iced (Dani O'Malley, #1) by Karen Marie Moning but it doesn't come out for two more days, so in the meantime I am going to finish my series catch-up :)

Book: Succubus on Top(Georgina Kincad #2)
Date Finished: 10-27-12

Review:

I love this series! This is book two in the series and Georgina is back and between her job, her very long time friend Bastien (a succubi) being in town and needing her help on a succubi related job, her and Seth's relationship , the demon world, and of course a new mystery to solve, she is a busy busy woman. Which made for a very full interesting book. At no point was I bored.
Now that I'm done with book two I can say that some of the plot points are very predictable. I have figured out both "bad guys" from both books early on, but it hasn't bothered me it actually excites me when Georgina figures it out too and maybe the Author planned it this way for all readers, who knows. Also the job she is helping her friend on doesn't quite go the way he planned and I guessed the reason for that early on too and was right.
This book goes deeper into the logistics of the demon world then in book one and covered some unanswered questions I had. While Georgina is supposed to be a lesser demon and "evil" she still has so much good in her and struggles because of that. I felt like I struggled with her during those times and I just want her to be happy, but she's always so hard on herself.
The humor is to die for, I laughed out loud more times then I can count while reading. There is a part in the book where she wakes up and her cat Aubrey is laying across her neck sleeping, and she describes it as "dangerously close to cutting off her air supply" and maybe it's because I have three cats and they do that to me all the time, but I laughed and laughed so hard I had tears.
Last but not least...the sex. Sigh, it was wonderful. I would give three of my left toes to be able to shape shift clothes the way she does, especially the lingerie. I don't know if it's because she needs sex to live or what, but the sex scenes are amazing, and there are undertones left and right. Then there is her relationship with Seth a mortal..which means they CAN'T have sex because she doesn't want to be responsible for sucking some of the life out of him. Their lack of sex, or ANYTHING beyond a light kiss is painful. Really painful, lol I really just want them to do it already :)
Overall I really enjoyed this book and got lost in it to the fullest extent. I couldn't set it down till I was done. If you've read book one don't stop there, it just keeps getting better.

33903 Succubus Blues (Georgina Kincaid, #1) by Richelle Mead
Shelf: Demons
Book: Succubus Blues
Date Finished: 10/24/12
Rating: 5 Stars
Review:

I really enjoyed this book. Georgina is a great main character with her wit and struggles with guilt, plus she's immortal. The theme at the end of the book was the whole "Is it better to have loved and lost, then never have loved at all" question. Georgina is a Succubus and "feeds" of of the life force she sucks out of guys through psychical sexual contact. I loved that she can shape shift her clothes and makeup, how conveinet would that be? This is book one in the series and we are introduced to her friends (vampires, greater demons, angels) and slowly through out the book given Georgina's haunted back round and how she came about trading her soul, and what she got in return. There is quite the love struggles in this book and a mystery to solve (someone is going around killing immortals) The book was more about character development and plot then the history and world of demons, but it was kinda nice not to have to figure out another set of "supe rules" this time. It was a fast paced, captive read, I can honestly say no part of this book was boring and would recommend it. I am continuing this series so straight into book two I go :)

33903 For those of you that are desperate Karen Marie Moning fans like I am...ICED comes out in five days...I am going to make it fit into one of our shelves somehow :)

33903 Thank you guys...almost done with Succubus Blues (Georgina Kincaid, #1) by Richelle Mead and I loved it! For sure going to go straight into book two. I will be posting my review tomorrow. It's "wear a crazy hat" day tomorrow at my 6 year old daughter's school for drug free week, so we stayed up late hot gluing all kinds of beads, buttons, random broken pieces of jewelry, sun flower seeds..you name it, on to a pink baseball cap she has. It turned out really cute but took longer then I expected so I better go finish my book and get to bed, lol

33903 Thanks Susan, I didn't know book two would qualify, but I will do that :) I'm doing better today, just sore. I have awesome Family and friends that have been a huge help so I'm feeling pretty lucky.

I love both VA and the Georgina Kincaid series, but loathed the Dark Swan series. Too much S&M fairy bondag..."

This book is really good, I'm glad Georgina is not a teenager, it feels like the last 6 books I've read the main characters have all been teens. And I think I'll skip the Dark Swan series....weird rape is usually not to entertaining to read about but I am enjoying the sex and sex talk in this one :)

33903 Re: Free Space.... Can someone recommend me something for my free space? I had a terrible time trying to pick on my own and gave up. This last Sunday I ended up in the ER with a pinched hernia, so I'm resting for the next couple of days and catching up on reading :) I didn't even know I could get a hernia, I thought those were only for middle aged over weight men :/

33903 Yay!! For my Demons book I am reading Succubus Blues I'm %36 done, and loving it so far. I picked this since we were just talking about the Vampire Diaries and I've never read anything else by Richelle Mead so I am giving her other work a chance, She's not disappointing me so far :)

33903 There is a ton of books on the demon shelf that look really good. But Amazon wont load and it's driving me crazy. There are a bunch of books on sale in the Kindle store for 2.99 and if any of these demon books are on sale that may help sway my decision on which one to pick :) Quite a few if not most of the sale books I checked earlier were supernatural books, I'm guessing because it is October and Halloween time (Marked, House of Night was only 2.99) Now come on Amazon and LOAD!!

33903 Book: Marked (House of Night, #1) by P.C. Cast
Shelf: Vampires
Date Finished:10-19-12
Rating: 4 Stars

I really liked this book, it was an easy read and even though the main characters are teenagers, they were not frustratingly juvenile. This is book one in the House of Night series and Follows Zoey a human who has been marked (literally, an outline of a half moon was put on her forehead) as a fledgling (vampire in training) and ripped out of her world (which was fine with her) to attend "vampire" school where she goes through 3 years of training and hopefully makes it through the change into an adult vampire.
What I enjoyed about this book (and I've said this before) is when the author has more then just the "usual" Vampire rules. Zoey can go out in sunlight, but it irritates her. And something different is the world is aware of Vampire existence.
Zoey has special abilities and powers given to her by the Vampire God Nyx...but as this is book one in a series I feel that all her secrets were not shared. There is a great love to hate character you just want to punch in the face from the beginning, and the plot is pretty predictable, but I was very entertained the whole way through. I would recommend this book, but if you are looking for an in depth twisty turny plot, difficult read you wont find it with this book.

33903 I'm not done with my Vampire book either, but at least mine is good. I am also reading Dead Reckoning (Sookie Stackhouse, #11) by Charlaine Harris (Sookie Stackhouse #11) as my series catch up. The books got boring and the show has gone from cheesy to terrible, but I figured I would give the series another chance. It's been well over a year since I've read any of the Sookie books and at first I didn't remember anything! lol I should be done with both books by this weekend. I've had certification classes all week for my in home daycare and all I want to do is cuddle up with a blanket and read. I have my last class tomorrow, then I vow to do nothing all weekend but read and go to my daughter's soccer game :) The class tomorrow is going to be the worst, it is a 7 hour class on how to wash your hands properly, change a diaper without spreading germs and how to prepare food without contaminating it. So wish me luck while I spend 7 hours "learning" how to wash my hands, lol

33903 Susan, read Dark Highlander for sure....KMM is in my top 5 fav authors :)
Oct 12, 2012 10:35PM

33903 Yay for stamps, I figured we were waiting on me and felt terrible!! I don't have ANY source of back up internet (tried to use my mom's Ipad by picking up the neighbor's wifi was my last resort and didn't work) It did open my eyes to how dependent on technology my family is, lol. After day three we were used to it, but days one and two were hard. The weather just turned cold here so playing outside wasn't an option the majority of the time.... so we've played a lot of card games since Monday. At the moment I am torn between watching tv non-stop while I'm on the computer because I did miss it so much or keeping it all off still :) No, just kidding I can't live with out the internet, I told the cable guy this morning that he was my new best friend :)~ CoFA wasn't that bad I guess, it was just very juvenile, it should be young-young-adult...or maybe I am just turning into an old lady at the ripe age of 27, who knows.

33903 Susan--I LOVE the Vampire Academy Series, all the books are just as wonderful as the first...if you stick with them you won't be disappointed. :)

33903 City of Fallen Angels (The Mortal Instruments, #4) by Cassandra Clare
Shelf: Urban Fantasy
Date Finished: 10/8/12
Rating: 2 1/2 stars

This book was soooo boring till about half way through, then it was still semi boring. It didn't seem to flow the same way as the previous three, then I found out the series was supposed to end after the third one (City of Glass) and it should have. The Angst between Clary and Jace is just annoying at this point. It's always something with them and by the fourth in a series characters need to get their act together. Their love life feels very immature, and it's hard to picture Jace as this awesome sexy strong character when he is constantly running from his problems and acting so whiny. (So he's having bad bad dreams, Talk to Clary about it and get over it) The action and humor was very mild compared to the other three and that is what has always gotten me through the angst in the rest of the books. Simon was the saving Grace, his part was interesting but I still didn't understand why (I'm not sure how to hide spoilers so I will be crypic) a certain "super powerful bad guy" was putting out assassination hits on him when everyone clearly knows he is marked and can't be killed, Idk maybe I missed something there. I would recommend the first three in the series but this one you could take it or leave it, and I should have left it.

33903 Hey guys I'm here, I think I am going to win the worst team member award. First off City of Fallen Angels was terribly boring and took me forever to get through, then Comcast (our internet/cable provider) said our cables were old and were causing interference and shut down our service for five days before they were able to come out and replace the faulty line. (I thought I was going to die, no internet for me, no nick jr for the kids, it was a mess) Anyways....Posting my review for City of Fallen Angels (ugh it was awful) and I am almost done with Marked (House of night #1) as my Vampire book and will post the review tomorrow (Saturday for me) after my daughter's soccer game or Sunday if I don't get a chance tomorrow. Sorry again, hope you don't all hate me :)
