Sora could feel his power drain as he traveled above the Earth's atmosphere and felt it's gravity pull him in.
"Stay strong!" Luna encouraged, "Hurry and don't lose your breath!"
'I don't know if I...' His lungs burned and he longed to take a breath. He saw the outline of North America through the clouds and was suddenly grateful to his 5th grade world geography teacher. 'Thank goodness I paid attention in the one class that counted...' He began to zoom back towards Earth, his body shaking as he re-entered the atmosphere.
Orihime laughed in amusement as they flew above the ocean. She saw dolphins jumping up out of the water to catch breaths. It looked like she had just stepped into an action film where the love scene happens while the two are on the boat in the middle of the ocean. "Dad, how much farther to Shanghai?"
"We should get there before sunset. Once we hit land we fly a little bit more inward."
"Okay."
She was silent and listened to Keiko and Chiyuu talk, with occasional inputs by her father.
'Thank goodness for time differences,' Sora thought to himself as he flew down. 'Oh, crap. At this rate I'll...' "Why the hell didn't I have the common sense to aim for the ocean!" he screamed as he headed towards the ground.
"Don't worry so much!" Luna scolded from beside him. "At least you had the common sense to come at night."
Sora noticed for the first time it was nighttime. "How...?"
"Time difference. You're on the other side of the world, boy."
He laughed to himself as his decent slowed down, landing with grace on the concrete below him. "Now only to-"
"Who are you?!" a girl from behind him asked, her red eyes shining like rubies in the night. Sora felt a metal object next to his throat.
"I'm..."
"An Elemental," a purple-haired girl from behind the red-eyed girl said.
"Yeah...I am."
"I'm Samantha," she introduced, holding out her hand.
The red-eyed one dropped the metal object which Sora later realized was a gun, for the first time also noticing her black hair. "I'm Sarah, we're sisters."
Sora shook their hands. "I'm Sora."
"Japanese, huh?" Samantha guessed.
"Yeah, I-"
"I can read your mind. You don't need to explain."
He nodded. "Do you-"
"I said you don't need to waste your breath. Follow me."
'Gee, someone has attitude. Are they all this bad in America?'
Samantha slapped him.
He fell to the ground in pain. "What was-"
"Don't think things like that. I'm not normal and she sure as hell doesn't need projecting on," she said, pointing to her sister.
"Sam..."
Samantha only looked at Sarah. "Should we trust him?" she asked.
"Shouldn't you know if you can read my mind?" Sora asked.
Samantha looked at him. "I'm not very skilled..."
"I know someone who is. If you come with me-"
"Why do you want us?" she asked, her expression protective. "What have we done? We didn't ask to be this way...to be thrown away by everyone who knew us."
His eyes widened. "Aren't parents supposed to-?"
She grabbed him by the collar. "What parents? Haven't you ever heard of war, boy? Have you?!"
"Yes, but-"
"There's no BUT in it! We didn't ask to be begging for food! We didn't ask to be criminals because we we're starving!" Tears welled up in her eyes as she dropped him and she folded her arms across her chest. "We just want to be normal..."
"Sam." Sarah touched her shoulder.
"If you have no families I can take you back to Onigawa."
"Onigawa?" Samantha asked.
"Yes, it's the town I came from. Do you know where the other Elementals in this town are?"
"Right beneath you," she replied.
"What?"
"We live in the sewer genius," Sarah stated frankly. "It's the only way to escape the cops."
"Then why do you not smell like trash?"
Samantha laughed. "That's why we take deodorant and air fresheners when we raid stores."
'Wow, these people are-'
"Sam, we don't know what to do about dinner. There's no more bread..." someone from under the sewer lid said. "Who is he?"
"He says he's gonna give us a better life. Gather everyone up. I think we can trust him."
The boy nodded and ducked into the polluted conduit again.
Sora then saw at least twenty children come out, all about the age of Sora and his friends. Some were even 15 and 18. 'Why's a 13-year-old leading this group instead of the older kids?' he thought.
"Because I can make everyone go away," Sam whispered to him. "I make them go somewhere else."
'She's that level...?!' Sora regained himself then thought for a moment. 'If it's 6:00pm here...it'll be too bright in Onigawa...so we head on to New York. Maybe they'll be in a better situation.' "We're going to New York to gather more people. We might stay a night there then head to Italy."
The children all nodded. Luna appeared beside him. He climbed up his shoulder so he could whisper into Sora's ear. "Let's not chance space this time since it'll be dark all the way to New York. Let's just do this through the troposphere."
Sora laughed. "Alright."
Luna commanded everyone to gather into a group then had Sora touch Samantha. "Guide the way," she said and off they went.

"Yes."
Her hands flew to her mouth. 'There's no way...why did all my family...why?' "Why do I have to?!"
Her father looked at her and saw her expression. 'This'll hurt her...' He looked past her at Sora. "You said you would protect her no matter what, right?"
Sora's eyes widened but he nodded. "Yeah."
"Then I need you to do something...and it won't be easy. Luna chose you, didn't he?"
Sora was taken aback in shock. "Why are you telling me this?"
"Because there's something only Death Masters can do, that we need you to."
He swallowed hard. "If it's for her I'll put my life on the line."
Akiyoshi smiled. 'He'll be perfect for her. Someone so much like Keiko...' "This task will be difficult, and there's a high possibility you will die."
Sora's hands tightened into fists. "I'll still do it."
"I need you...to go into space."
Sora's knees practically gave out. 'Go...into space?' "But you can't breathe..."
"I know. But only you can do it...with Tsubaki now in KARIN."
"Tsubaki-chan joined KARIN?!" Ayame asked.
"Yeah, she's in on it with them."
Everyone was in shock. Even Monique and Chikara had given their attention to this matter.
Sora swallowed hard. "Okay."
"NO SORA! If you die I won't-"
He kissed her and she stopped fighting. When he pulled back he whispered into her ear, "I have no family, but I do have friends, and I have you. And I won't let you die...no matter what. I promised."
"No..." she whispered back, tears in her eyes.
"If you can do this, you'll have mastered the dark element. You have 2 days, that's when KARIN will make their move. Go around the world, gather as many Elementals as you can. There are bases in New York City, San Fransisco, Venice, Rome, Shanghai, and Hong Kong. Gather up everyone. We're counting on you."
He nodded, pulling out his spellbook.
"Wait Sora-kun!" Etsuyo called out. "Take me with you."
"No. If I die, I don't want to kill anyone else..."
Orihime cried silently. 'If you die...?' "Dad? Can't you do anything...?"
Akiyoshi bit his lip in thought. 'Shanghai and Hong Kong are close...and maybe that experience will...' "Don't go to Hong Kong or Shanghai. I'll do that."
Orihime turned back towards him, grateful. "Thank you," she whispered. Then turned back to Sora. "I won't forgive you if you don't come back," she told him, "I'll smack you over the head in the afterlife."
He laughed. "Okay." He smiled at her while his eyes shown of regret. "Sayonara," he finished, Luna appearing beside him.
"It's still early enough. Let's do this."
Sora nodded and disappeared in a second.
Orihime bit her lip to hold back her tears. 'Aishite'ru,' she told him silently.
Her father touched her shoulder. "I'll take you with me." Her face lit up. "Anzu," he called.
"I'll bring her back," she nodded then sat down in the same meditating position Chiyuu had.
Everyone turned back to their own conversations.
"Dad, who are you...?" She stopped when she saw her mom appear. "Mom!" She ran and hugged her.
Anzu got up, rubbing her shoulder. "Geez, that took a lot out of me..."
"Can you still teach?" he asked.
"Yeah. I've got Mai-chan."
He nodded then turned to his wife.
"I know. I know." Keiko picked up Orihime. "Let's go."
"Chiyuu-chan, let's move," he commanded.
"But I should stay here and-"
"No. We need you. And Anzu will be sure to teach Mai enough in one day to be able for her to summon everyone else. Let's go."
Despite the negative answer, Chiyuu smiled and nodded. "We gonna fly?"
Akiyoshi laughed. "That would be the smart choice," and for the first time, Orihime saw her father's keys. There had to be at least 50 keys on it.
'Whoa, I can't believe Dad has that many forms...'
"I told you his was huge," Keiko whispered into her daughter's ear.
She laughed. "You don't say..."
In seconds a giant blue jay appeared before them. "Get on."
"You can talk?!" Orihime exclaimed.
The bird laughed. "Of course I can. I'm human aren't I?"
She blushed as Chiyuu and Keiko laughed. "Come on." Her mother jumped with her up onto the bird's back. Chiyuu followed. "Alright."
"Hold on tight," he warned before flapping his wings and they were in the sky, flying towards Shanghai.

"Th-The last legendary Elemental was ORIHIME'S DAD?!!" Mai asked, shock eminent in her voice.
Orihime looked at her father who smiled warmly at her. Tears of joy welled up in her eyes as she hugged her father.
A brunette came up behind him, touching him on the shoulder and whispering, "Kionu has decided to lead KARIN."
Akiyoshi looked seriously at him. "Okay. We need to train everyone here to be at least their level, Miki. I trust you and Etsuna can take care of your children. Ryu will most likely be key."
"Of course. What about Ayame?"
Akiyoshi looked at the young girl. "Seishin can take care of her. He should be a fast learner."
Miki nodded then looked down at Orihime. "Good luck," he whispered to her before heading off to Etsuyo and Ryu with a red-head trailing behind him.
Orihime looked back at her father. "It's bad, isn't it? Kionu was a shapeshifter like you..."
Sora came up behind her. "Shapeshifters are supposed to be the strongest, right?"
Akiyoshi looked down in reverie. "Yes. And they have an expert shapeshifter on their side too."
Their eyes widened. Chiyuu stared back at him. "It's Tona, isn't it?"
Akiyoshi looked back at here, a serious expression on both their faces. "Yes, it is."
"Who's Tona?" Orihime asked.
Akiyoshi looked down at his daughter. "Your uncle."
Her eyes got even bigger. "No way..."
"He'll teach her, it's obvious," Chiyuu told him.
"I wouldn't put it past him."
