The health care reform bill that President Barack Obama signed into law last month requires that chain restaurants -- defined as eateries with 20 locations or more -- post the calorie content of their offerings on menus or menu boards. The establishments are also required to post information on how a certain menu item's calorie content stacks up against daily calorie requirements. Other nutritional information, such as fat content and carbohydrate content, must be available upon request. Items that aren't listed on the menus, like temporary specials or custom orders, would be exempt from the guidelines.

Yes, restaurants and fast food places have to provide you with nutritional information. If it's not on the menu or the order board, they have to have pamphlets available to hand out. I'm in CA and I know you are, too, and I thought it was a federal law, but if not, it's a state law for sure.
About a year ago my daughters and I went out for a girl's night and decided to go to dinner. The restaurant had the calories on the menu, as is now the law, and it really ruined the evening for us.

I can get this awesome chicken salad from Pollo Loco that's under 300 calories, but add the creamy cilantro dressing and it's 600!!!!!
I was just showing my husband the Carl's Jr nutritional information thing this morning. His favorite thing on there is the Double Western Bacon Cheeseburger. 1,000 calories and 1,700 mg sodium. Now that one I can understand... cheese, bacon, bbq sauce... but what really threw me was this...So the Big Burger, just the bun, meat, ketchup, mustard and onion was almost 500, but the Hand Breaded Chicken Tender sandwich is 450! That sucker's deep fried!!!!! AND TASTES BETTER!!!
Anyway... I need to stop collecting those nutritional guides. Makes me want to give up eating all together.
