The verifications in this thread apply only to the Summer 2025 challenge - they do not carry over to future challenges and genre verifications from the past challenges do not carry forward - verifications are only applicable to the current challenge.
A book need only be verified once in the thread - then it can be used by any participant in the Summer 2025 challenge.
Please do not post task-specific questions here ("is this cover green enough?") and other such questions.
If you are planning to use a book for a genre task and fear that the genre may disappear, post a link to the book in this thread. We will not "lock in" the lack of a childrens or kids genre on the main page.
When you post your book, if the genres have changed, just link to the post in this thread in which it was verified and you'll be good to go.
Because of the volume of verification requests in this thread, I will not be trying to compile any sort of master lists. If the book you are using does not have the required genre at the time of posting, but has been verified in this thread, please link to the post in which it was verified in your completed task posting. If the book you are posting still has the genre on the main page, there is no need to refer to any posts here or in other help threads - if it's there on the main page, you're all set.

It’s Spooky Season!!! My preferred spookiness is suspenseful and gothic. Lucky for me there are many types of suspenseful gothic offshoots to choose from.
Read Two Books. Choose either Option 1 or Option 2.
Required: State the option.
One book with the genre "Sequential Art", "Comics", "Comic Book", or "Manga" may be used for this task.
Option 1 - Read two books, one from each of two different lists below:
Early Gothics
Victorian Spiritualism Fiction
Modern Gothics
Sci Fi Horror
Noir -- (1st 25 pages only)
Required: State which lists and which page on the lists your choices fall.
Option 2 – Read two books.
Book 1. Read ONE book from ONE of the lists above.
Required: State which list and which page on the list your choice falls.
Book 2. Because Gothic genres are often “chilly,” read any book, fiction or non-fiction, with snow on the cover.
Required: Post the cover.
Examples:

1. Post any tasks that you have already completed NOW. If your tasks are not posted completely and correctly by midnight Eastern time on August 31st, you don’t get credit for them, no matter why they didn’t get posted.
If you post tasks at the last minute, problems may not be identified in time for you to deal with them and get credit for the task. Sometimes the problem is that you forgot to include required information, but if you don’t post until the last day, there may not be time for me to identify the problem and for you to correct it before midnight.
To get credit for a task, it must be posted with all necessary requirements in the post and the books must fit the task. If you have any doubts about a book that you’re planning to read at the last minute, you should get it approved in the help thread (and include that information in your post) to avoid any last minute disappointments.
If you're claiming a children's book, I suggest including the AR Bookfinder information, even if you don't notice the genre childrens on the main page. That may avoid problems.
2. From here on out, you should post tasks as you finish them, rather than holding them to post a bunch at a time. And, please, before you post, read the task requirements. If something says REQUIRED, you must include it. Read through the task requirements one last time before you post, to make sure that your book actually works for the task and that you’ve included everything. And, for a list task, check again to make sure the book is actually on the page of the list that you're saying - if you found it on the list 2 months ago, it may well have moved.
Just do your posting as you read, and avoid any unnecessary problems.
Many posts at the end of the challenge make your moderators cranky. If you don't want to get walloped with a Stephen King hardback, don't make the moderators cranky.
3. Check your Readerboard totals for points, Golden Oldies, It's A Fact, and Big Books NOW. If they don’t agree with your records, first make sure that you check the post through which the Readerboards have been updated. Then check your maths, check to see if you have messages in the ?/problem thread, check to make sure that you’ve actually posted the tasks that you think you have – GR has been known to eat messages! If checking all of those things doesn’t resolve the discrepancy, post in the ?/problem thread right away, giving as much info as possible so that I can try to resolve it.
If a problem was noted with one of your posts, be sure that you reposted the task in the regular posting thread - an edit to the old post, or a note in the ?/problems thread amending the post is not sufficient.
Let's try to have a smooth and problem-free end to the Summer Challenge.

I would accept them.

Please check your math. Looks like from post 2117-2118 you added an extra 15 points in the point total.
No need to repost.

task 25.5 option July option 1 requires the book cover to have red white and blue according to tineye. Tineye states there is no white on this cover- the color on cover is gray.

10.3 requires the page number to be listed on claimed post.
Please repost with the page number of the list for the book claimed.

total pages of the books needs to be 501+ for task 30.5
A Shilling for Candles by Josephine Tey has 240
A Pocket Full of Rye by Agatha Christie is an ebook
The current rules state that ebook page numbers can't be used for minimum page tasks. The page number is verified using the highest rated MMPB. Which is only 220 pages
this is only 460 pages.

Continuing our exploration into classic science fiction, this season we are going to explore another foundational author in the genre.
This is a two book task. Choose two different options and read on book for each option.
Your two books must have a combined page count of at least 501 pages.
No children’s books allowed.
Option 1 – Read a book by Isaac Asimov.
Option 2 – Read a book by a single author where ALL the author’s initials can be found in Isaac Asimov. Letters may be used as often as they appear.
Option 3 – Isaac Asimov was born 2 January 1920 and died 6 April 1992. Read a book that was first published between those dates- inclusive.
Option 4 – Many of Asimov’s works explored the role of robots, artificial intelligence, and scientific progress. His Three Laws of Robotics became foundational to both science fiction and real-world thinking about AI. You can read more here: https://asimov.fandom.com/wiki/Three_...
Read a book that can be found on the first 5 pages of the following shelves: Robots or Artificial Intelligence
Required: state the list and the page.
Option 5 – Isaac Asimov’s works have inspired countless adaptations across film and television. Most recently, his Foundation series was adapted into an Apple TV production.. You can read more here: Foundation on Apple TV+
Read a book that has been adapted and released into a movie or television series. If the movie/tv series is from a series of books, any book from that series may be read.
Required: Provide a reference to the Movie or Television show

This is a Two book task. Both books read need to be single author only. No Children's books may be used for this task. The combined total for both books must be 501 pages or more.
Book 1: Read a book of your choice by a single author.
Book 2: Using your first book, read a second book whose author has the same name as the author of the first book BUT in the alternate position. ONLY first and last names count.
Examples:
Kelly Elliott - Elliott Dark
Lucinda Riley - Riley Sagar
Louise Penny - Penny Reid
L J Ross - Ross King
Names must match exactly.
For example, these do not work:
Virginia Andrews and Andrew Sean Greer
Taylor Jenkins Reid and Reed Mackenzie

In 2023 I had an accident that still keeps me from doing my favorite Zumba classes due to a surgically repaired lower left leg and ankle. I have had to pivot to doing swimming pool classes which are much easier on the joints. I am fortunate to be able to attend multiple gyms thanks to my medical insurance plan. This was definitely a perk of turning 65 this year! Those gyms are EoS Fitness, Athletica and LA Fitness.
This is a two-book task. Choose two different options and read one book for each option.
Required State the options
Option 1: EoS was named after the Greek goddess of the dawn. Read a book with the MPG Greek Mythology.
Option 2: Athletica is my least favorite of the gyms because management doesn’t prioritize the classes. Instead, they allow lap swimming in two lanes while class is in session. This has caused conflict because the lap swimmers tend to be people who walk and talk rather than swim. This makes it hard to hear the instructor and there have been a few unpleasant episodes when people have asked a particular gentleman to speak more quietly.
Read a book with a title (excludes subtitles) word of 4 or more letters that can be made from "NO LAP SWIMMING DURING CLASS.” Letters may only be used as often as they appear.
Required: State the word
Option 3: LA Fitness originated in California in 1984. Read a book set at least 50% in California.
Required: If the setting is not evident on the Goodreads book main page, provide a reference.
Option 4: I have excellent instructors for my water fitness classes. They are September C., Patty C., David C., and Steve F. Read a book by a single author whose first name exactly matches one of my instructors (Steve, not Steven and Patty, not Patricia), or that shares their initials. The initials can be reversed so SC, CS, PC, CP, DC, CD, SF, and FS all work. Middle initials may be ignored.

This is a Two book task.
Choose 2 different options and read one book for each option.
You may use one book with a MPG Sequential Art, Graphic Novels, Comics, Comic Book, or Manga.
I love art in all forms-murals, statues, paintings, street art and photography. Some of my favorite places to visit were Ft. Wayne in Indiana, Lexington in Kentucky, and Yellow Springs in Ohio. If you know a place that has any of these that you love please let me know.
Option 1: Street Art is something I look for every time I go to a new city. It can be as simple as stickers put on signs or graffiti that I find appealing.
Read a book with a title (not subtitle) of at least 3 words that has the first letter of each word appearing in STREET ART.
Option 2: Murals are one of my favorites. I research cities we are traveling to and if I’m lucky there’s information on a map of all the murals in the city. Then I make hubby drive around if necessary and let me take pics.
Read a book with a single author whose name contains all the letters of MURALS
Option 3: Statues or large outdoor art are another favorite of mine. It’s always interesting to read about the person depicted or what the art installation is about.
Read a book with an MPG of Historical Fiction or Art. MPG may be imbedded.
Option 4: Museums are wonderful places to explore. My favorite art museums tend to be Modern Art. I’m always amazed at pieces that artists come up with.
Read a book with a single author author's first and last initial can be found in the word MUSEUM.

Task 30.1 requires one book read to be the author's debut book and to state which book read is the debut book.

task 30.2 does not allow any children's book to be used to complete the task's criteria.

hi Mod - I can't figure out if i messed up my math or i missed a task or something - i have all the tasks marked off on my spreadsheet as complete but missin..."
