215640 Aloha all! I've gone totally bonkers lately (no real surprise there!) and am reading all over the place! I've decided this will be the year I finally finish off It by Stephen King in October.
I also want to complete NOS4A2 this year as well as The Alienist. I had started both last year and took a small break. Now is the time. I like to do horror in October, warm & fuzzy in November & Christmas in December...
And for something completely different, I've started rereading all the Little House books by Laura Ingalls Wilder. I am nothing if not eclectic!
It by Stephen King NOS4A2 by Joe Hill The Alienist (Dr. Laszlo Kreizler, #1) by Caleb Carr

215640 I will read just about anything -- but my favorite genres are historical fiction, mystery, thriller, paranormal, contemporary and the ever-popular chick lit! I oddly prefer paper and ink books, but have recently forced myself to use an ereader.

215640 I would love to visit all 50 states! I'm actually from Hawaii, so the car thing is pretty much out of the question!
So far I've been to: California, Nevada, Washington state, Oregon, Texas & Minnesota. Guess I'd better get going....
Next year we plan to take an Alaskan cruise for our 30th anniversary. I would love to see some of Europe before I get to old to enjoy it.

215640 I am a proud book nerd! Reading is my love & my life. It can transport me to places I could never afford to go to, could never even imagine. I carry a book with me at all times. I'll read in the grocery store line, at the bank, just about anywhere really. I read in bed, at the beach, in the bathroom. I can't go to sleep without reading a chapter or two. I learned how to read at age 4 and have never looked back!

215640 I'm really looking forward to Ready Player One! I'm trying to finish the book before watching the movie... I'm one of those the book is always better than the movie type people. The book is pretty darn awesome, so the movie has a lot of work to do to make just as good!

215640 I'm reading To Be Where You Are by Jan Karon right now and totally loving it! Her gentle stories about small town life in Mitford are just so comforting and heartwarming! You really come to care for the characters and feel as if you know them personally!

Also reading The House of Unexpected Sisters by Alexander McCall Smith. This series is somewhat similar, even though it takes place in far-off Botswana. Characters with moral fiber and family values make you feel as though you're visiting with old friends!

215640 Aloha! I'm Lauri from Hawaii. Thanks so much for the invite, Aly! This seems like an amazing group! So much talent. I hope to write a book someday, but fear of rejection (and general laziness!) have been holding me back...
I started reading when I was 4 years old and have never looked back since. I will read just about anything. My general rule is to give a new book 100 pages. If I still hate it, I'll quit. This doesn't happen all that often. I usually read between 5 to 12 books simultaneously. I see there are quite a few others out there, too. That makes me feel less of a freak. My favorite genre is historical fiction, but I love mysteries, paranormal & YA, too. Looking forward to getting to know everyone...
