Passageways (1 new)
Feb 01, 2017 11:50AM

211011 Hogwarts Castle contains several secret passageways. Several passages are known by the majority of the students. Many, however, are only known by a few students.

The passages are:

1. A passage beneath the Whomping Willow, leading to the Shrieking Shack.
2. A passage behind the statue of Gregory the Smarmy, leading to the kitchen.
3. A passage behind a mirror on the fourth floor, leading to Hogsmeade trails. It is large enough for an organisation to hold a meeting inside.
4. A passage beneath a one-eyed witch statue by the stairs to the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom, leading to the cellar of Honeydukes.
5. A passage in the Room of Requirement, leading to the Hog's Head in Hogsmeade.
6. A passage in the Slytherin common room, leading to the cave. Of course only death eaters know about this.
7. A passage behind the portrait of Sir Cadogan on 7th floor, leading to the staffroom.
8. A passage in the ladies' room, leading to the Chamber of Secrets. Only a parselsmouth will be able to go through here.

211011 The different places inside Hogwarts Castle is connected by a complicated system of stairs and corridors. Sometimes the stairs move places, leaving students in corridors they have never been. Nobody have seen the entire castle, because new ways appear all the time, and old ones suddenly stop existing. But for most of the students, the stairs and corridors are where they move around when then go from class to class.

211011 The Ravenclaw Girls' Dormitory is located inside the Ravenclaw Tower, and is where the female Ravenclaw students go to sleep at night. Every dorm room is equipped with a centrally-located stove, and each student gets their own bed, flanked by a set of windows and space for storing personal belongings. Because the Hogwarts founders believed that boys were less trustworthy than girls, the staircase that leads up to the girls' dormitory turns to a slide, if a boy tries to enter.

211011 Ravenclaw Tower serves as the common room for students in Ravenclaw house at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The Ravenclaw common room is one of the airiest rooms at Hogwarts. It is a wide, circular room with a midnight blue carpet, arched windows hung with blue and bronze silks, and a domed ceiling painted with stars. During the day, Ravenclaw students have an excellent view of the school grounds, including the lake, Forbidden Forest, Quidditch pitch, Herbology gardens and the surrounding mountains. The room is furnished with tables, chairs, and bookcases; and by the door leading up to the dormitories stands a tall statue of Rowena Ravenclaw made of white marble.
The entrance to the common room is located on the west side of Hogwarts at the top of a spiral staircase, presumably located on the fifth floor, and is a door without a doorknob or keyhole, but a bronze knocker in the shape of an eagle. In order to enter the room, a person must answer a riddle asked by the eagle knocker; if they answer incorrectly, they must wait for someone else who gets it right.
