207766 This thread is for all the authors in our group to post about the books that they have written. Please use this thread to mention your book and as the group rules state, please do not start new discussion threads for your books.

207766 The purpose of this group is to read and discuss books, not to do advertising.
However, some authors want to find new readers and we have no problem with that. Just keep in mind that everybody isn't interested and that spam is not authorized (posts will be deleted).

You can introduce your book in this folder, creating a new topic.

Thanks

207766 We'll read one book each week, all along the year. You can't change the topics, but you're free to choose whatever book you're interested in for each topic.

It's better if you create your own plan (using "create a new topic" and choosing "2017 Plans" for the folder) so you can keep track of your progress and share your choices with the other members. If you need help to find ideas, you can have a look at the Suggestions for weekly topics.

How to Create Your Own Plan: Go to the 2017 folder: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group...
Then you have a "new topic" link at the top right.

Add links to books in your Plan list: When you are putting in your comment, at the top of the box is Add book/author. Click on that to add your book as a link or a picture. Link is better.

To Access Your newly created plan easily: add a link to it in your profile. So you'll just need to click on your profile picture to find it:
Add this (without the "*") to your profile (edit profile> about me):
<*a* href="http://url_of_your_plan"*>Your Plan<*/a*>

207766 My name is Alina and welcome to the 2017 2018 52-week "Intentional" Christian Reading Challenge! I created this group because my friend told me she wanted to do "intentional" christian reading for the year. The Lord laid it on my heart to create a group for this type of challenge. I've never created a group before or been a moderator, so please bear with me as I try to do my best to make this a fun and learning/growth challenge.
I love the Lord and I love to read! I hope this challenge will appeal to those who feel the same and want to grow closer to Christ. I am a 50-something wife to a loving husband, a mother to 3 daughters (ages 11-17 12-18), and a software engineer in my real job. My favorite genre is probably historical christian fiction, although I love to read almost anything except smut or horror. My other favorite hobby is quilting. I will just say that I am Never bored!
Rules (1 new)
Jan 02, 2017 09:19AM

207766 Rules are sometimes necessary to keep the group a respectful one.

Golden Rule: Please be kind and respectful of others. Before posting a comment, you may want to ask yourself, "does this glorify God?"

Spoilers: Nobody wants to hear the details of a book or ending, especially if they haven't read it yet or are in the middle of reading. If you are going to post something about what happens in the book, that is OK, but please you spoiler tags. Type the following but without the asterisks (*) to create a spoiler tag: <*spoiler*>This is the text that will be hidden.<*/spoiler*>

Weekly: This challenge is intended to be weekly. You are welcome to jump ahead or lag behind, but please participate in discussion!

A-Z Discussion: Post your books in the A-Z section according to title. Books beginning with "A" and "The" should be placed according to the second word in the title. Use the "Title, by Author" format when creating new threads. Tell us what week's topic you chose this book for. Make sure there isn't already a discussion for your book before creating a new thread.

Authors: Authors are welcome in our group. Please share with us in the Welcome Authors section a little about yourself, you can find that here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group...
- We want to know about your books so we can support you in the marketplace. Please share your books in our Spotlight Your Book here section found here: https://www.goodreads.com/topic/group...
- We do not want our group to become an advertising board for your book. Please be respectful of our members and keep your advertising to the section designated above (Spotlight Your Book).

Bloggers: Bloggers are encouraged to share with us their blogs, giveaways, and whatever else you may find exciting, however, we do not want this to become an advertising board for blogs. Please be respectful of other members and don't start a new discussion for every review or giveaway you post on your blog. Instead, add it to the proper discussion topics.
Jan 02, 2017 07:54AM

207766 In 2017, I created this reading challenge group because of my friend Jacquie. I asked if she would like to join me in the Around the Year in 52 Books group challenge. I had participated in that challenge for a few years and really enjoyed it. My dear christian friend declined joining with me and said she wanted to do more "intentional" christian reading for the year. The Lord laid this on my heart to create a group for this type of challenge.

In 2017, the challenge was for 52 weeks, read a book each week that helps you in some way as Christians to grow closer to Christ. This is what my friend meant by "intentional reading".

CHANGES for 2018: The 52 week goal of 2017 may have been a bit high for many of us, including myself who failed miserably even though I created this group! So, for 2018, we will have the same 52 topics, however, you can modify the challenge to suit your christian reading goals.

If you are more of a LIGHT reader and feel you can commit to reading 1 book every 4 weeks, then choose 13 of the categories you would like to read.

If you feel you can read 1 book every 2 weeks, then you are an AVID reader of this challenge. Choose 26 of the categories you would like to read.

If you are a faster reader or just have more time to devote to this challenge by reading 1 book every week, then you are the COMMITTED reader of this challenge. Read a book from each of the 52 categories - 1 per week.

If you want to be SUPER CHALLENGED, then choose two different books for each category - 2 books per week.

So create your own plan from the 52 topics. You can't change the topics, but you can choose whatever book (or audiobook) you are interested in for each topic.

You can read in order or jump around, but keep this order in the plan, as we are using the numbers to quickly find a topic.

Please feel free to add your plans (even if ever-evolving) to the 2018 Plans folder. You can also add your books in the A-Z folders where they can be discussed.
