2059 The Sept 17-24, 1944 Allied Airborne invasion of Holland, supported by British 30 Corps. Plan was to cross the Rhine into Germany, and the war by Xmas. Great failure.

Read my book out next March, and also read our book The Star of Africa, about how German officers were learning of this.

2059 I interviewed many German officers, who stated that had they been Paulus, they would have done the same thing. If Goering and Hitler had been honest with Paulus about being unable to supply and reinforce him, and had Manstein been given enough support for the relief force, things may have been vastly different. Paulus felt betrayed when we realized that Hitler's standfast order, not one step back was a suicide directive.

Excellent choice. I also interviewed many of the German paras, and in the future will release another book, similar to the Aces Speak series we did, with their interviews. Ironically, Oberst Friedrich August Baron von der Heydte was a distant relative of mine. See our website at www.lewisheatonbooks.com and go to Future Book Projects and see.

Leni Riefenstahl's films and documentaries were very influential, and the style was admittedly copied by Frank Capra for the American propaganda war in WW II. I interviewed and knew Leni very well, as well as Frank Capra Jr, the elder's son, who was a film producer when I worked in the industry. Also watch Leni's film "Olympia"

2059 FYI, the next WW II book we have coming out through Zenith Press is Volume II of The German Aces Speak, for those who like Luftwaffe subjects.

2059 Hans Baur, Stumpfeggar, Guensche and Hewell all left the bunker together with a few others. Baur was hit in the knee by Russian fire, later losing a leg in a crude surgery with a pcoket knife, and Bormann disappeared, but presumed dead. His remains were found over a decade agon when a new building was being built, I believe. They compared the dental records and DNA to his son.

I use the interviews for my books, altough I will never live long enough to use them all probably. I donated a lot of material to my various schools I attended for their research archives.
