Freddie thought about lunging at the stranger, but this wasn't the time. Lacy's life was in danger. He carefully pressed the needle to Lacy's skin, his hands shivering from nervousness. He finally put the needle into her skin, careful not to go too deep. He took the needle out, hoping it would work some magic. He then went over to Alex and did the same thing.
"H-he's dead." Freddie stuttered. He had just noticed this was his first time stuttering since a few hours ago. Maybe it was fading. "Please, I need to help Lacy." Freddie said, feeling Lacy's heartbeat decline.
Freddie was astounded. He had never seen as many survivors as he did in one day. Too bad he lost one and was about to lose another. He didn't care if this new girl Rev was dangerous. He needed help. "Please, my friend, she's been bitten. I need help." Freddie pleaded, a pool of tears forming under him.
Freddie whipped his head around at the sound of the door opening to see a girl. "Who the hell are you?" Freddie asked frantically, his attention still on Lacy. He ran over to Alex's backpack, quickly searching through it. There was nothing. "Lacy, there's nothing in here." Freddie told Lacy.
Freddie runs back over to Alex, looking for a pulse. "No!" he yells. He then realizes he's dead. There's nothing he can do. He runs back over to Lacy, tears drenching his clothes. "Lacy, you can't die. I won't kill you." Freddie says, praying in his head.
Freddie mistakenly drops Alex, running to Lacy. He sits her down, tears streaming down his cheeks. He wasn't sure why he was crying. He hadn't known her long. He barely knew. Somehow, he felt connected to her. "Please, Lacy no," Freddie pleaded, his tears falling onto her face. He ran to Alex's backpack to find alcohol, tape, gauze, and bandages. He quickly went over to Alex, wrapping his arm with gauze and bandages and doing the same thing with Lacy.
"No!" Freddie yelled. He quickly forced the door shut, struggling due to the force of the zombies. "Fuck," Freddie mumbled under his breath. "Alex is bitten!" Freddie yelled, dragging him over to the other survivors.
Freddie picked up his broomstick and his empty bag that was originally full of food and water, but had to be dumped out on the way to the police station because of it's weight. "I'm fucking done. If you wanna nuke this city, go ahead. But I'm leaving. This is bullshit." Freddie exclaimed. He was furious. He didn't want to stay in this disastrous world but he didn't want to die either. "I'm sorry, Lacy." Freddie said. He walked to the door, unaware of the horde of infected outside.
Freddie was about to lash out on Alex when he realized something. "Orders? From who?" Freddie asked, his voice getting higher.
Freddie looked at Alex, hoping he could trust him. "Look, I have nothing against you two," Freddie said, looking at Adrian and Alex. "But it's been a while since I've met other people, and I just want to know I can trust you."
Freddie looked at Adrian, contemplating if he should trust him. He wasn't sure. He hid behind a pole this whole time, only coming out when Alex appeared, yet he seemed somewhat trustworthy. This was a tough decision. "Okay, Adrian's right. We need to stick together. The more of us, the less of them." Freddie said, pointing outside to the infected. He felt brave. He felt like a leader. But he didn't want all of that to go to his head. He knew better than that.
"Who are you telling him what to do?" Freddie asked Alex, his face turning red. "We just me you," Freddie said, pointing to Alex. "And we just met you." Freddie said, also pointing to Adrian. "But right now, I trust Adrian more."
